***** I don't think NASA will disqualify potential astronauts because they didn't like the food. Most of the other points were valid qualifiers for being an astronaut, this one was just ridiculous.
+dimmddr1 I'll admit, that wasn't a real test, but the food lab was cool and we wanted to get it into the video. Also, NASA doesn't really give extra credit for dancing, for some reason.
I really want to know more about the physical. I wonder if that involves psychological stuff too. That reminds me I should finish reading Chris Hadfield's book some time. Hopefully, probably a long time from now(maybe soon if commercial spaceflight really advances over the next few decades) you will not need to go through such an intense training process. This would probably be for space hotels once artificial gravity is accomplished. I know current space tourists must go through a few months of training but it is obviously not as intense and they are not staying in space that long, and of course you don't need a certain degree, it just costs a lot. (About $20 million) But you could also imagine a scenario in which anyone who goes to space, launched on a rocket owned by a company from that nation, must go through some sort of training and screening process. Commercial spaceflight may get to the level that commercial aviation is at now in less than one hundred years.
And the biggest requirement is of course that you have to be a 33rd degree mason. Also have to be able to swim in a big swimming pool with scuba divers to help on missions, and of course be able to traverse Greenlands terain
A engineering degree only qualifies you to be a astronaut. Connections are the biggest thing that gets you this job. Also military experience helps because leadership and being able to get along with other astronauts is important.
Fun fact about the food that explains why he liked it so much, "space food" needs to have a lot of spices and flavor. That is because in space, your sense of smell is a lot worse so you can't taste the food as well and the stuff he tried out would most likely be experienced as more bland for an astronaut in space.
Matt Foster I want to be an astronaut and I'm really focused on that so I'm doing extensive research on how to do any or all of the tests they put you through and reading up on college level mechanical engineering books and I'm only 15 wish me luck with achieving my dream?
REMX EXPLORATION - in a few years i will look at the sky and think that " I wrote some nice things to a nice astronaut out there, a few years ago" . See, I have like the same dream - too see with my own eyes the true space - it's like the only think that I want to REAALLY achieve in life. But I don't think I have a chance, cause I'm in the 9th grade at an art school in romania... So I think I'm RIP.... But good like to u and may God bless ur way ;)
I couldn't take being in confined space for long periods of time, I can only take being on a cruise ship for a few days before I want to get off and those things are huge .
I still would love to become an astronaut but I horribly suck at math, the only mathematics I'm interested in is when they show it in the documentarys about gravity and planets when they calculate the mass and stuff.
I have a 4 years degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and I'm physically and mentally prepared for this. What else is needed to become an astronaut?
As someone who has been in a room full of antifreeze vapor, I would guess you would have enough time to press the warning button before grabbing the mask. As long as your lungs were full before the gas release you don't need to breath.
So what was wrong with the older models of space suits cause they seemed way smaller and looked like they could move way easier in them. Now they make them so bulky and they can hardly move in them. I guess going backwards is the nasa way

Im getting my masters degree in mechanical engineering, im looking to get into a flight program, and I’m going to talk to asu about interning with their rover program. I’m 5’4” , I’m 18 years old, I’ve never done any illegal drugs, and I’m an athlete who can play semiprofessional hockey. Im hoping this is enough for me to be qualified to enter the space program as an applicant. This is my plan for now, and it’s gonna be a pain to complete, but I already tested into being halfway done with my associates degree in science, soooo...

It doesn't take any skill to eat food.
+dimmddr1 Not that its a skill but if you cant eat it or you don't like it then too bad cause that's all that's up there.

+Brent Rose I do t think you get the extra credit unless you ghost ride in a full EVA suit LOL 😝
You don't have to be an astronaut when you have KSP.
Fucking damn right.
Yasssss
Petition to have astronauts have at least 600 hours of ksp under their belts
I feel an hour in space is worth like 1000 hours in ksp
im poor i cant afford it rip
OMG Brent, you didn't dance hard enough
+sham skali skale I'll always have regrets...
+Brent Rose Should have done the robot. Might have passed with that.
