@@bojunchoi6354 - Yeah no shit dude. That's not what that guy was saying lol He was just saying that you could see LH thinking internally at the end of the video when he was talking to the astronaut about the requirements to become an astronaut.
F1 cars are pulling up to 8 Gs under peak braking. It causes the fluid in their tear ducts to get pulled out...and splat against the visors inside their helmets. Also, the lateral Gs are in some ways more physically demanding. When Lewis was an F1 rookie...he had a 14" collar....now...18" from dealing with the loads. Pilot/Astronaut Gs are generally positive (heavier into seat) or negative (pulling up on belts). Lateral Gs are physically hard to deal with because your head flops over.
As an F1 driver it would be pretty hard to excite or shock him by driving a car when he drives them at 200 mph. He must be almost falling asleep when he drives at the speed limit on the motorway.
I wasn’t gonna watch this it kept popping up so I did. Glad I watche it, it was actually really cool. It’s incredible what they have created there and what they have done in space and on earth. Simply amazing.
Getting two ultimate professions come together like this is so satisfying. The risk and precision in F1 and the craziness outer space. This is one of the most meaningful video out here. Respect to them! Anyone more capable of flying outer space if there is ever a vehicle that requires mostly human control, it has to be fighter pilots and F1 drivers
It's interesting to see Lewis Hamilton speak to people who have piloted things much much faster than any F1 car could ever go, seeing as the minimum exit velocity for anything leaving the atmosphere is at least 25,000 miles per hour.
Not to take anything away from astronauts, trust me, they are heroes to me but it is 25000 mph without any sharp cornering or split second reaction times.
@@tinasheroy Oh of course none of us mean any offense, and it's not a competition. But as an aside, those pilots are also jet pilots, who do corners as sharp as F1 cars can from the same speed to beyond the speed of sound, in a 3d environment, pulling Gs multiple to that of the car. As he mentioned in the video, I hope Lewis does get permission to go fly in that jet with that one pilot he was speaking to. They're still active duty fighter pilots who fly and do missions several times a week. Lewis deserves that joy and he'll always be one of the greatest drivers of all time. His wonderment in this video is well-warranted and inspiring, and it does a lot in motivating more young people to go into the sciences.
@@tinasheroy In each astronaut class, including the most recent one (Astronaut Group 22, 2017) they will have at least four pilots. Class 22 itself has three astronauts whose background are as US Military test pilots. At 11:25 Lewis talks about being a perfectionist and also having a thrill for speed. He mentions that because those astronauts he's speaking to are also jet pilots, and he then mentions that one of those pilots is flying an actual sortie later that day and he's trying to get permission to tag along. Most pilots in NASA's history (and all of the current ones) are Active Duty military personnel, and are still required to keep their skills sharp even if they haven't been in a warzone for a couple of years.
@@tinasheroy Even many of the non-pilots have seemingly impossible resumes, like Jonny Kim, a highly experienced US Navy SEAL sniper, combat medic, mathematician, Harvard Medical School graduate, emergency trauma doctor, and now is also an Astronaut Candidate. Astronauts are seen as heroes for a very good reason, especially to those in the science community, and Lewis is showing that huge heart of his in that, no matter how old, accomplished, and successful you are, you can still be at awe at the projects that push the boundaries of humanity ever forward.
"OMG oh wow it usually takes so much longer for people to drive this car, totally crazy how you're so much faster at learning how to drive a vehicle with 4 wheels"

The lie could be to control people's thoughts, control money flow, control a narrative, science in general is so unproven but that's also what makes it exciting to be alive right now when truth does break through the theories.
Box Five indeed that is sadly quite a common tactic nowadays. I often wonder just how ignorant we unknowingly might be.
You could almost see the wheels turning in LH's head, wondering if he could get into NASA after retiring from F1. :-D
That lil cart thing looks so fun lol
Si Crewe he is not going to nasa. they are two different proffesions.
@@bojunchoi6354 - Yeah no shit dude. That's not what that guy was saying lol
He was just saying that you could see LH thinking internally at the end of the video when he was talking to the astronaut about the requirements to become an astronaut.
or fly there in his racecar XD
Based on his abilities from f1 he can have an easier transition. His reflexes alone tests are probably higher than most as well as vision.
7:12.
Nobody: Carzy carts are the best
Nasa: Hold my beer
Astronaut: So how much do you pull in the car?
Lewis: Up to 6Gs
Astronaut: Amateurs
Grosjean: Hold my beer, i did a 56G crash and walk out alive
A launch is around 3-5 g‘s
@@MDE_never_dies In addition to that they experience it almost every corner for a 2 hour race
I mean astronauts don’t have to turn corners at the absolute limit.
What a lovely video. A bunch of my favorite things coming together. I would love a Hammond's Engineering Connections with NASA and F1
That is how amazing people interact. Always so much to learn!
10:25 asking the real questions!
the answered not sound Satisfaction
I love how excited he was about everything. I didn't know he was that interested in space travel.
Lewis: "I love space".
Max: "You're having none of that".
best comment out here
He actually went to NASA and asked them to their face what they thought about people thinking they faked the moon landing. Legend.
Kimi would drive that vehicle he would be bored and Bwoah...
Kimi would've just told him "Leave me alone I know what I'm doing"
7:10 I Love how unexcited he sounds when the guy steers the car side ways, must be too use the F1 Cars XD
ye the dude said "and theeeen..." trying to impress him but in the end it was hamilton who impressed the shit out of him
As an F1 driver it would be pretty hard to excite or shock him by driving a car when he drives them at 200 mph. He must be almost falling asleep when he drives at the speed limit on the motorway.
Ye its the reverse he needs dam G force to keep his blood pumping
"This is pretty good for your first time!"
XD Did he even know who he was with? haha
yeah I think he was humbled a bit there. at least he gave Lewis his props in the end
7:38 "This is a tricky drive and you're not used to the joystick". He said that to a 7th Time Word Champion(and counting).
In a single entertainment racecar sport. It does not compare.
"Mars has the best fans" - LH

Gloublougo !

Fantastic video! You can tell Hamilton is really enjoying himself.
I wasn’t gonna watch this it kept popping up so I did. Glad I watche it, it was actually really cool. It’s incredible what they have created there and what they have done in space and on earth. Simply amazing.
I have next level appreciation for Lewis. True Legend.❤️💙
"That's one small step for Lewis, one giant leap for me. "
Thank you Lewis.

"How it fit?"
"LIKE A GLOVE" CMON MAN
It's interesting to see Lewis Hamilton speak to people who have piloted things much much faster than any F1 car could ever go, seeing as the minimum exit velocity for anything leaving the atmosphere is at least 25,000 miles per hour.
@@IReallyMissCybertron In the early days of space flight definitely but I read somewhere that most astronauts these days are scientists.
Lewis: "Made for a really small hand"
Astronaut: "Seems like a custom fit on you."
LMFAO
“Watch for that car there”. He’s talking to a world champion like he’s on his first drivers lesson
"OMG oh wow it usually takes so much longer for people to drive this car, totally crazy how you're so much faster at learning how to drive a vehicle with 4 wheels"
Of course he does.
If anyone's gonna be the first F1 driver in space, it'll be Hamilton.
I mean now that i think of it as a formula one fan i can totally see one of the goats like Hamilton be able to fly s rocket ship
NASA uses the Toyo r888 design.. solves the question on what’s the best tire 🤷🏻♂️
Itzjustamustang lol
The perks of being a Legend!! Well earned👍
Kimi driving the rover around the car park: don't talk to me in the middle of the corner I know what I'm doing
I'm german and a Vettelfan but Lewis is for sure a sympathic and super cool guy. It's a shame that so many people hate him, I just enjoy his driving skills and hope for Vettel to beat him, which is hard because in the moment he is simply the best driver. To much envy in this world 🙄😂

Vettel Fan und VFB FAN???? wo warst du mein ganzes leben
10:28 awkward question about them not landing on the moon 😂😂😂😂
When Lewis was talking to the astronaut about what age they went to be a test pilot it made me think that I'd love to see how well F1 Drivers would do in G-Lock training. Considering they're already pretty peak athletes, it'd be an interesting watch.
Bro that’s the best driver ever, you have a golf cart that’s changes direction. Chill...
@Kimberlin Starnino maybe something just for fun
when he gets to 9 world championships he may have a claim to the best driver ever until then that title belongs to MR Loeb
@@MK2MOREDOOR tough crowd 😉
Well... I have driven a swerve drive before, in a remote control FRC robot. It is a hell of a lot harder than it looks, but I'm obviously no Lewis Hamilton

It’s cool to see this. I live 5 minutes from there and that’s cool they gave him access to certain areas the public can’t see normally. Cool to see Doug Hurley in this vid as he just returned from ISS two days ago!
When I saw Doug the other day( scrubbed SpaceX launch), I could've sworn I had seen his face before, and lo and behold it was this video.
aces the vehicle in the first try. legendary. moon landing question even bettter. gotta love lewis
Doug Hurley is on this video! He is one of two men who went on the first Space X manned mission to the ISS!
I live down the street from NASA and I might have been there dozens of times, but it just never gets old the wonder this place instills in you about earth, space, and humanity coming together to create the impossible.
12:42 I've never seen that engine in an F1 car
Probably because one of these is bigger than an F1 car^^
To put into perspective, all the F1 cars that ever existed, combined, have less horse power than the Saturn V first stage.
He deserves every minute of his boyhood dream to come true, as with mine but hasn't attained as yet..
Who's here after the SpaceX launch?
8:20 Did the dude know he is a 6 time F-1 World Drivers Champion? I mean he is literally the best driver in the world today.
Props to Lewis for staying humble and not mentioning his F-1 career. Class act.

that's cool he was in clear lake then recently this year! hoped you enjoyed your stay here in space city!
Incredible video! Lewis was very fortunate to be able to see all that space technology!
nasa dude: try on this glove
Lewis: it doesnt fit just give me normal gloves!
NASA: Gives a very detailed scientific explanation of the pool's specifications.
Lewis: Urr......so how much of the pool is owned by Russia?
Kimi after getting in the rocket: _S T E E R I N G W H E E L ?_
Dont forget his drink...
I really wish the Sky/ESPN (American broadcast) pre-race show would show more content like this. Maybe not the full 15 minutes, but seeing these segments beats the snot out of listening to the same bits of level one F1 knowledge week in and week out for 80% of the show.
they were overwhelmed for a second or two when he raised the moon-landing question
A lot of those NASA employees look like the aliens disguised as humans in MiB
They're developing technology to go back their home planet
