In the 1930s, Italy modified the machine gun and produced the Fiat-Revelli M1935 heavy machine gun, which participated in the Second World War. The M1935 was overall superior to the M1914, but still faced challenges in the battlefield due to its weight, size, and reliability issues. Despite its shortcomings, the Fiat-Revelli machine gun played a role in both world wars before being retired in 1945.
