Why have these people been ignored by most Christians in the U.S. ? Who bombed the King David Hotel during 1946, which killed 91 people? Seventeen of those murdered were Orthodox Jews. This would still be ethnic cleansing of the indigenous people, and they are the descendants of the first Christians who themselves were descendants of the Canaanites and their ancestors. Any real Christian honours them for their heritage. They kept Christianity going for 400 years before it was made official and legal by the Roman Empire. They and the Muslim Palestinians preserved all of the great churches for 1600 years. There were nearly 1000 churches in 1948...today there are about 10. Everything needs to be put back the way it was when it was the Holy Land and refugees of all religions were welcome there.

It still baffles me how and why Arabs partnered with British to fight against the Ottomans for their independence. Brits never returned someone's freedom until they are dead. The Turks already knew they cannot hold the region and I wouldn't surprise if Arabs and Turks could fight together against Europeans and then declare independence of these Arab countries. That was a very short sighted decision by all the Arab countries who suffered deeply under the European colonialism.

Good as always, but I am disappointed with a contradictory conclusion. Professor Khalidi wants a 'two state solution' whilst at the same time saying there must be unequivocal equal rights for all. The problem is that 'two states' preserves Israel, the self-proclaimed 'Jewish state' which was formed around the principle of privilege for its Jewish citizens and discrimination for the rest. Indeed this is pointed out in the talk. So how can it be a solution if this inherently wrong system - with the evidence of 76 years of apartheid, ethnic cleansing and apartheid behind it - is allowed to continue? And: if these injustices continue how can there be peace? The injustice will *always* produce resistance. This is inevitable. Resistance which Israel will always attempt to beat down with repression. This is also inevitable. No. This cannot work. You have to take the injustice OUT. And the only way to do that is to have a single state with equal rights for all. Professor Khalidi says there must be equal rights. In that case Israel has to be brought to an end.

A crucial element that must be clarified about ownership of that land, is whether the story in the bible for which there is no concrete evidence of support should be accepted in determining ownership of the land of Palestine. What happened to possession is 9/10 of law.
Let's consider a hypothetical. Let's imagine that i steal your classic car. You love that car. You wanted that car. And I take it. I then hide it in a garage before another criminal steals it from me. At some point he sells that car on the cheap to a nun who uses it to do good deeds around town. Any real Christian honours them for their heritage. They kept Christianity going for 400 years before it was made official and legal by the Roman Empire. They and the Muslim Palestinians preserved all of the great churches for 1600 years. There were nearly 1000 churches in 1948...today there are about 10.

Erm, while I am in agreement and appreciate this overall, at one point I had to ask myself "is Professor Rashid Khalidi living on a different planet?" when he spoke of UK Labour.
I was a member of UK labour for 14 years and a voter of it for 21 years my friend, I can tell you now, only 4 of those years did the party ever honestly give much of a crap about the fate of poor brown people far away and that was during the tenure of Jeremy Corbyn who unlike the present leader would not have waited for 5 months and 30,000+ murdered civilians plus approval from US masters and donors to alter position and call for a ceasefire.

It still baffles me how and why Arabs partnered with British to fight against the Ottomans for their independence. Brits never returned someone's freedom until they are dead. The Turks already knew they cannot hold the region and I wouldn't surprise if Arabs and Turks could fight together against Europeans and then declare independence of these Arab countries. That was a very short sighted decision by all the Arab countries who suffered deeply under the European colonialism.

Good as always, but I am disappointed with a contradictory conclusion. Professor Khalidi wants a 'two state solution' whilst at the same time saying there must be unequivocal equal rights for all.
The problem is that 'two states' preserves Israel, the self-proclaimed 'Jewish state' which was formed around the principle of privilege for its Jewish citizens and discrimination for the rest. Indeed this is pointed out in the talk. So how can it be a solution if this inherently wrong system - with the evidence of 76 years of apartheid, ethnic cleansing and apartheid behind it - is allowed to continue?
And: if these injustices continue how can there be peace? The injustice will *always* produce resistance. This is inevitable. Resistance which Israel will always attempt to beat down with repression. This is also inevitable.
No. This cannot work. You have to take the injustice OUT. And the only way to do that is to have a single state with equal rights for all.
Professor Khalidi says there must be equal rights. In that case Israel has to be brought to an end.

A crucial element that must be clarified about ownership of that land, is whether the story in the bible for which there is no concrete evidence of support should be accepted in determining ownership of the land of Palestine. What happened to possession is 9/10 of law.

She loves that car and she takes great care of that car. Then 8 years after I stole that car, that sweet elderly nun accidentally runs a red light and when they run the plate they find it is stolen.

As for Palestinian rights, your rights are not extended by a neighboring country, they can only be god given rights that are secured by one's government. For there to be a Palestinian government that first requires a state and to get to that point Palestinians have to come to the table and negotiate with a REALISTIC expectation reflective of the history and after October 7th I think any deal would have to phased in over time. My guess is that the best israel will ever offer is to put Oslo back on the table and honestly I would be surprised if it's even that. I think there has to be a financial buy in from the region and as massive deradicslizaticn program before statehood. If it were me I would also say that anyone who wants to resettle out of Gaza should be absorbed by the rest of the Arab world. If they don't want to go then so be it but it's going to be years to rebuild and if they want to go the Arab world should absorb them.

Palestinians deserve equal rights in the land they were displaced and excluded from. Not "separate but equal" but actual equally. No more separate Palestinian IDs (remember the yellow stars?). No more denying Palestinians access to any part of Israel including roads, settlements, services. I believe that the Palestinians have been the victims of a grave injustice, and they deserve the democratic rights that all citizens of the world should be entitled to. I oppose sharia law in Palestine, and I oppose Halakhic ethnocentrism.

Asking the Palestinians to negotiate with Isreal to grant them self determination - is like requiring the prisoner to negotiating with the prison warden to be set free.
Glad this showed up on my phone today. (Although I already know most of the history relating to the Balfour Declaration (Ralph Wilde's excellent lecture to the ICJ, I also am aware of). It would be wonderful were this lecture given to the UK government and the US. It should also include Ralph Wilde's speak along with it, to point to the legalities involved. I also have to say that Balfour may/may not have talked about rejected Jewish refugees to England. They history shows how they welcomed in massive numbers the Jewish refugees. e.g.. in Leeds.Thanks.
It is well known in documented that Balfour was a straight-up 100% anti-semite. HE couldn't stand Jews. He of course was not alone in that sentiment.
