We would not ideally for best performance when using the travel router on the go you would use wired ( USB connection coming from your Android or iOS phone ) this is far superior to using a hotspot mode to the travel router as your phone has a worse performing WiFi chipset and will use more battery. Using the wired connection will offer superior speeds, stability and less drain on the battery.
I have this router as well and its capabilities are excellent. I probably lean a bit more towards GL Inet routers but the ASUS 57 Go is an excellent choice as well. If the Merlin Firmware becomes available for it i may be singing a different tune altogether.
I saw in one of your older videos you prefer to use the asus mesh systems as the router system versus access points. Any reason for that? Does it perform better? I plan to get the ET8 and then buy one of their new wifi 7 routers. I can wire backhaul.
Thank you so much for the video! I am considering getting the GLinet Beryl AX or this Asus AX57 Go. Which one would you recommend for a traveller mainly using to replace public wifi? Thank you
Well if you were flying to Hawaii from California would you rather fly in a twin engine propeller plane or a commercial airliner? Both will get you there but one has way more amenities than the other.

Thanks, great setup/review, very useful🙂
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for the feedback
Have you been able to keep a log of wifi signals for the wisp mode? I found it only keeps the last one used on record.

what if the public wifi location requires you to go to a webpage before logging into their wifi..will this travel router still be able to log in?
whats the difference between repeater mode and WISP mode?
You generally don't have to worry when connecting to public wifi these days, since everything is encrypted with HTTPS. No VPN needed.
wooh...change your sound bits

Np,
I like both of them for various reasons. Asus has a few more options if that's important to you.
The GLinet has network wide ad blocking built-in.
@@landpet Thanks for quick reply. You have been absolutely great with the review videos!
@@RBzee112 We support this via our WRT Firmware as well as well as comprehensive on router VPN options and DNS options.
If you travel a lot why would you pick this instead of a pocket wifi?! That's way more useful when travelling.

And how is this better than the proven GL iNet Beryl AX (gl-mt3000)
they're both good. I've reviewed the GL iNet as well
