- Space Station Silicon Valley is a platform video game developed by DMA Design and published by Take-Two Interactive. It was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in October 1998. An adaption of the game for Game Boy Color was developed by Tarantula Studios and released in 1999. A PlayStation port, developed by Runecraft, was released in 2000, under the name Evo's Space Adventures. Players control Evo, a robot reduced to a crawling microchip after a ship crash, and are tasked with taking control of animals to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.

Space Station Silicon Valley review on the nintendo 64. Recorded using a dazzle and on original real console hardware and game cartridge.
When I played this game I don't think I was developed enough to understand what the objective was but I remember having a blast popping from animal to animal. I thought that was so cool!
exactly how I remember it
I was the same makes me when to play it more now
The game is a precursor of the GTA style vehicle mount
Agree
Same!!!
This game stuck with me quite dramatically, and I never once met another kid my age at the time who had even heard of it.
I'm glad to see it was appreciated by others.
This game is so Nostalgic. This is my favorite game of all time
I’m the same! No one seems to have heard of it!
This is the only review of this game I've found that not only does it justice, but surprisingly is the only one well done. Great job
ah thank you man, it seems to have quite a cult following I'm just hoping to spread more attention to it :)
Dude you should watch the whole playlist ive only ever not been like dude glen nailed it a few times
Twisted edge snowboarding was right up there w goldeneye for my favorite game of the era all consoles and pc. Idk it was just perfect for me in 1998
oh shit the nostalgia is strong right now. loved this game. even more than goldeneye, mario or the like. it was just so original
This was always one of those n64 games I wish I had played as a kid, but for whatever reason never did.
yeah its funny how we all have games like that in our lives...like you always wanted to play but something else would come along that you wanted more first and then you'd be forgetting all about it
@@n64glennplant yeah... I’m currently working through a 20 year retro game backlog. So close to finishing Banjo Kazooie !
I know Im pretty off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
Give such a game a kid today... omg, the graphics.. omg the gameplay... no real weapons?! Laser?! Where is the pumpgun, where are the bad words? No blood?!
... this is also one of my absolutely favourite games for the N64. Played it after school, at the weekend... it was such a great game. Loved the music, too! My favourite part was the dessert... but sometimes, it was hard to beat. The bears... they were aggressive, aggressive like the ice-bears... but anyway... the developers took a lot of love in this game. And this love reaches me... I love the memories about good games like this one!
I never wanna miss them!
Robin991100 the music was epic it was so cool how u could walk up to one of the speakers and the animals would just start bobbing their heads
@@4nakinSkywalker As soon as I heard the music at the start of this review, my head started bobbing! Loved this game. It was fun.
C'mon, Rockstar, do the sequel, make it happen...
Luciano Irigoyen that would be awesome
Still no sequel to gta5
@@xxasimxxthen then can keep rereleasing this like GTA 5
what a game this was !! haven't see this is years ! very nostalgic !
awesome! This brings back so many great memories. I still have this tucked away in storage somewhere, time to go searching
Aaron Turner hunt it out!
I loved playing this game as a kid, still do.
+MrSoundwave64Z glad to know I'm not the only one!
+MrSoundwave64Z My mom couldn't afford Mario 64 or Zelda, so this and ''Crusin USA'' were my first two games lol

This was one of my favorite games.
Absolutely a hidden gem, have such fond memories of this game from the colours and music to the excitement of controlling a new animal with totally unique and awesome moves. Never gets mentioned as an N64 classic but definitely is in my eyes. Also really cool to find out this was developed by Take-Two & Rockstar!
I have been watching many videos in your channel with the sole purpose of re-discovering this game. I remembered playing as a sheep in a level in a game on the 64 and absolutely loving the game, but I couldn't remember ANYTHING else about it. I'm glad I stumbled into your channel, and finally get to play this game again!
+HowToCarAudio it's amazing how many people have said the same thing about this game!
I'd love to see a 3ds update on this! It was such a good game, or maybe it's just my nostalgia goggles!
no dude that would be awesome! its jus a shame this didn't sell all that well otherwise wed probably have that 3 ds game by now
It was kinda rare
A Switch port would be awesome.
I thought so too, even at the time. The humor was great and I thought the concept was really original (and gosh it was hard at times)
I want this on the 3DS sooooooo bad
Man, I remember sitting down in front of my TV booting up my N64 and instantly grabbing Space Station Silicon Valley (But sometimes my second favourite, Star Fox 64). To be perfectly honest, I had no idea what I was doing half the time but would rather run around in the sandbox-ish element messing with other "Wildlife" and accidently do a puzzle. I'd say my fondest memory of this game is that Walrace 64 Minigame. That was the shit. I loved it so much I would do it all the time! Ahh good times. :)
I had this on both N46 and PS1. And there is a single thing I remember with it. My father being able to Copy the Hyena's laugh exactly.
+Father Ruckus haha what a great memory
That, that's excellent.
This was by far my favorite game on the n64 growing up. I used to love playing as the rat king and leading a rat pack to attack foxes :)
mixitman92 yeah this games amazing - so many memories
This was wonderful, they don't make em like this anymore :(
I'd love to hear your reviews on Shadow man, Rocket: Robot on Wheels and Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon.
GREAT channel.
Zen O'Fobe I've already done a LONG episode on shadow man, its actually one of my favourite reviews :) the rest are on my to do list :)
***** oh sorry I missed that, I'm off to watch it.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I was 8 (!) when I played this with my best friend. So many memories come in mind seeing this game again. The good old times!
this game represents gaming in the 1990s and early 2000s; when you could buy a lesser known title for a bit cheaper and immerse yourself into the game. The good old golden years of gaming. Now, everything is ran by the big corporations and teams are in the hundreds instead of the tens. Used to be simple now it's too complex. Oh well. I'll play these games until I grow old and die.
Same as when people complain about 'music not being good these days' you're just not looking
@@larrote6467 There's too much to look through.
My sister was very young, some 6 years old, and she only wanted to play the second mission where you had to bark the sheep into the fence. She would finish the mission and ask me to put it again, and I loved to do it. Great memories of this game.
Ohh man thanks a lot for this video, I almost cried, I remember how the bear level scared the shit out of me, I remember playing this with my cousin on weekends, overall this game reminds me of simpler times!!!?
I remember this from late 90s I loved the dog and sheep forms clearly I had no idea of the story I thought I was a bug crawling around it is funny now to not be 10 years old playing this
Same! I thought it was just a game to mess around! Had no idea what I was doing. I love the Walracing though
when i played this as a kid i thought how it was funny that destroying the speakers actually affected the music
Ahh good times, i fondly remember renting this one holiday 1999 and playing it during Christmas eve when i was a kid. ^ ^
definitely one of the better N64 titles.
Hotdrop0Clock and certainly one of the most under rated ones too :)
They should remake this
A friend actually referred me to this game and v I've played a number of n64 games and I must say this looks very good! Kinda quirky but a fresh idea.
omg this was my favorite game on N64
Great review! I got goosebumps :) Used to have the music on my mini-disc player... I was a 'cool' kid
I loved this game... we need this on the Eshop PRONTO
mariosonickirby1 i dont think it'll ever happen but never say never...they could fix the glitch in it too :)
I absolutely adored this game, I also attempted to 100% it and was gutted that one of the souvenirs had no hit detection on it! The most frustrating thing in the world!
But yes I agree, genuinely creative and unique, I wish somebody would remaster Space Station Silicone Valley 🐑
This was one of my first video games and I loved it
Space Station!!!!! The music, cool animals, and awesome levels... I loved this game so much as a kid. Great review!
I bought this because of your review! Not a single regret. and insanity to play a game I've never heard of! Thanks Glenn :)
phew! glad you enjoyed it after my glowing recommendation and thanks for letting me know! at least now you know i have a certain taste and style i like to help you with any future games i get around to covering :)
I've played and replayed this game over and over through the years and still really love it. The two things I enjoy the most are the zany style of music and the subtle vibes given off by the story. It's a stupid story at first glance, but it actually has some really good subtle overtones that always made it feel not just silly but pretty cool. I loved the bits like the station disappearing and reappearing a 1000 years later, the mysterious disappearance of the first group sent in, the heads found frozen in the arctic regions later, and maybe even the ending. Long story short, it was a bit of an inspriring game :D
I absolutely never saw it on store shelves not once, but was aware it was well-received in the gaming mags. DMA's Body Harvest was a lot more widely available, however, and I'm glad I picked that one up.
I found this game as a kid roaming Blockbusters, and I LOVED it. I honestly had no idea what I was doing, but I'd rent it over and over just to play it for the sake of playing it. My favorite level was the ice level, specifically playing as a penguin.
the first time I saw this game it was on MTVs Amp video show for (i think) a mouse on mars music video. It was still in the alpha stages of development but looked really cool
yeah thats the music song which the game appeared in :)
This really needs a sequel. Too bad rockstar will probably never make anything as unique as this ever again. Although i really have to wonder how they missed that souvenir glitch ... because i certainly found that back in the day and it drove me nearly insane. xD
yeah the glitch was annoying especially before the days of the internet to know what you were doing wrong!
I have Vivid memories of playing this at my cousins house when I was like 6 years old. I loved the boxing kangaroo. Also I think there was a spitting camel. But I thought the ability to switch from different animals was really cool and like you said a hidden gem.
Yeah the boxing kangaroo is correct!
What I would give to go back 20 years and re-live this experience..20 years man.
We can only dream that one day it’ll get a fresh remake 😍
7 years after you posted this video i bought the game off your recommendation. This game is so fun and it manages to make me laugh a bit!
Took your time 🙃
I finally found this games name.I had forgot the name because I wanted to see it
Just found this by chance. Brings back awesome memories, had so much fun with that game :D Thanks for that video!
Loved this game as a kid. I can't understand why they never made more
Cause it didn't sell :P
There was to be a sequel if the first one sold well... but it didn’t.
I literally was just thinking about how much I loved this game as a kid and I thought I forgot the name but I searched it up and turns out I didn't forget. Thanks so much for posting this. This game was a huge part of my childhood.
This is one of the best games on the N64. I never thought about what the game wouldve been like if it had multiplayer, but i could see co-op working as perfect dark pulled it off
Interesting. I've heard that this and Rocket: Robot on Wheels are two of the greatest overlooked 3D platformers on the N64, the later of which was developed by the company that developed Sly Cooper and Infamous.
This was by far my favorite N64 Game. The base Idea of this Game still hits so much Checkboxes I like in games.
Loved renting this game as a kid, reminded me of a book I had at the time called the "the robot zoo" which was full of large cutaway diagrams of robotic animals. The key to the gameplay is like you say, being able to possess any robot animal you can discover to figure out their unique abilities. Its that freedom to explore not only the level design but the varied behaviours which I think sparked the imagination for me.
its really a concept which should be in a modern game again isn't it
Great video, brings back childhood memories. I never had a n64 myself but this was one of the few games I played at a friends place when I was about ten years old. I can still almost "feel" the fun we had playing it :) The picture of the microchip and funny sheep has ever been stuck in my head since then but I never found out what the games' name was. Today i finally looked it up on google - so cool to see it again, smiled all the way through the video :)
ah man thats awesome to know! a few people are like that with some of these lesser known n64 titles so glad i could bring back some good memories today!
I absolutely loved this game. A hidden gem for sure
Your N64 review are on on point, I am collecting N64 classics in 2014 & these reviews help weed out the crap. Thanks for the uploads.
This game has the best soundtrack of all time. I still listen to it this day.
One of my favorite childhood games. I remember loving the rats vs mice level, but I never made it past the kangaroo boxing, probably because of the unfixed glitch. Even though I never saw the end for over ten years, I still loved the game with all my heart. I hope Rockstar hasn't forgotten about it.
This is probably my favorite hidden gem N64 game I knew of in the states. I have great memories from it.
Still loving this game. I bought myself a new copy a few months ago because of your vid on it and man, I forgot how difficult some of the later puzzles can be.
yeah as you get to the end you really need to think outside of the box
This game is phenomenal. Honestly I don't think I've ever had so much fun trying to 100% a game. It felt very rewarding to beat some of these levels. The music was top notch also.
Love this game, thanks for the nostalgia and excellent review!
Loved this game as a kid, and now, never been able 2 beat it tho lol
its certainly not an easy game!
But there is a patch that prevents the game ruining glitches.
Finally had an opportunity to buy this. Best 50 dollars CA I spent. What a blast. Has some pretty tough level I'm stuck on though.
I still remember, pretty vividly, reading about this one in Nintendo Power magazine. It looked like a ton of fun, but I could never find it in stores or for rent anywhere.
I still hope to pick it up one day
I remember trying to play this game with my brother a loooong time ago, and neither of us had any idea what we were doing! Even so, we loved this game so much.
This game was a weekend rental for me when I was a kid, and I have very found memories of it, suchs a cool game and I have often found myself throughout the years since thinking back on the game!
Great review after all those years.
The bug with the tap doesn't stop you from getting to the end of the game. However, it does make a bonus 2d-shooter game inaccessible.
DUDE THIS GAME WAS SOMETHING ELSE!!!!! Such a special place in my heart
It stays rent free in my head all these years later
One of the best parts was the side scrolling shooter at the end. I still have this game ready to go in my office. 😀
For some reason I always put this game on my Christmas wish list, even though I only had seen the box art at Blockbuster. I just always really wanted it but never played it.
Miss my childhood, would do anything to go back
Know the feeling oh too well ❤️
Got it love it mate....your bang on with this review..hidden gem for sure!
yeah this ones sublime, a sequel would be loved
Actually saw this game today and immediately bought, based on this video.
Tried 2 levels so far and It is actually a fun and relaxing time, making me feel like a kid again :)
Taking over the animals felt really unique and the overall presence is heartwarming.
I am really surprised that my copy is Dutch btw! :O Can't find an option for other languages tho.
anyhow, thanks for making this video, my life is a little richer now :)
Stay positive and safe, have a nice day, byebye~
I bough it today and, well, this is my opinion of a first impression, I don't remember when was last time I had to break my head to solve a puzzle in a game that is not Professor Layton. The last stage I played is one where you must uplift some bridges, mke come carrots grew, and turn off the electric fence, I really had to break my head to see how to grab the four electric orbs that were on the roofs of the barn and the house, I felt very good when I found the way to do it. The only complain I have is the camera, for some reason it gave me motion sickness after I finished 45 minutes of game... it looks no game for N64 dared to copy the camera system of Super Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time.
lol this makes me feel pretty special i beat this game when i was 7
Bad you can only access to the Special Stage using a cheat, because programmers missed to program you can grab a golden faucet.
+The Game Master yea it really is a bummer but i still highly enjoyed this game!
xsystemgaming Agree... but still the camera gives me sickness motion.
+The Game Master lol i enjoyed the whole game but 1 mission that 2 missions years ago
This was my favorite game when I was younger.
This will likely always remain my favorite video game. I was so young when I first played it and loved it because of how how challenging it was for my 6 or 7 year old mind. Excellent review! You've got a new subscriber. 😄
+Jimbodawg welcome! Thanks for checking in!
I remember it being fun and hard, and when I came across the ungrabbable souvenir I thought I was doing something wrong. I didn't get to see the ending until years later when I read about the bug and the cheat.
loved it hard as fuck tho
jonny boi yeah some of the later levels are crazy hard
the cool cod maze is insanely challenging, I'm afraid for your mental health if you didn't make it in the first tries.
I will never forget this game. it's part of my childhood
A masterpiece; this and Body Harvest are timeless (if visually ugly) tour-de-forces on the console! Great review!
I agree jazz!
Funny thing is I still have it working with my N64 from what 16 years ago? still on my recommended to anyone who comes over from time to time to try out and "think" in game design.
Remember first playing this when I was 11 or so, at the time it amazed me but now thinking back it feels incredible that such a bizarre and risky game ever got the go ahead! Sad to say I have yet to complete it, about time I dug out of the attic!
My favorite N64 game, dude... Shame nobody knows about it...
One of my favorite 64 games. Gotta go back and play it.
+Kevin Malone hope it still excites!
I remember the winter levels. I used to love pretending to be a soldier as one of the penguin paratroopers. Good times.
Very good times - I always love comments on this video because it was such an obscure game for someone to have owned back then
@@n64glennplant So true. Luckily, my brother mostly bought obscure games for the N64. I'm glad to have grown up playing this system with him. I don't think any console will ever top the N64 in ability to provide pure, straightforward entertainment.
I don't know if I had true consciousness when I played this game but I remember loving it
5:25 - It also pretty interesting to know which games utilize the expansion pak or not. The game usually boasts about it on one of the title screens but, others don't.
I'd say this game is pretty impressive graphically for a game that doesn't utilize it.
Man i remember playing this as a kid having so much fun and idk how but when I would get to the next level or part in the game I'd be so amazed by it lol
This game definitely needs a sequel/reboot. Such a fun and unique idea that hasn't really been attempted since.
I had seen this game, but didn't know anything about it. This game is really unique. It really does seem like a hidden gym! Great video!!
glad i could enlighten you! now go get it! and play it! and love it!
Fantastic review as always Glenn. My memory of this is a slightly weird one; I was an N64 nut but actually never got to play this game, however I remember reading an interview with DMA (with screenshots) in an old Nintendo magazine and being overwhelmed by the size and scale of the game; to my 13 year old mind it didn't seem possible that a game could be so huge! Now I don't even know if it is a large game or not, I just remember my imagination running wild on it!
theres around 30 levels if i remember correctly and they are all their own worlds so the levels are massive, tons of gameplay in them too
I bought this when I was a youngster from a little Independence video rental store, along with Mischief Makers, another hidden gem. Both I bought on a whim because they were dirt cheap: nobody ever rented them, I'd never even heard of them. Both were awesome and unique games and probably two of the N64 games I played more than any other. Lot's of challenge and replayability. Those were the days.
MM is a game I've been trying to get around to since the start of my channel....awesome game and its weird that its the only treasure game which i haven't reviewed on this channel yet !
Wow, what an awesome review. Really makes me sad that I didn't get to play this as a kid, seeing these are the kinds of games I played the most as a kid (puzzle, adventure, etc). I bet this game is one of those games that really trigger the nostalgia amongst it's fans, when they look back at it in retrospect. Cheers!
Ash Bredesen yeah and the cool thing is that this was a sleeper title and so not that many people did remember it, but for those that did this was gold
One of my favorite N64 games! When I found your channel I looked specifically for this game. I sometimes hope they would come out with a modern sequel as long as it remained silly and has good puzzles.
Never could get the cheats to work though.
This was one of my favourite games on the N64 and I spent hours trying to uncover all of its secrets or just ''roleplaying'' as the animals, as if I was partaking in some cybernetic nature documentary. As for the bugged souvenirs, was the golden mosquito trapped in barnstone in the dinosaur level one of these? I never figured out how to get that one.
Oh, man. I stumbled across this game at a Blockbuster game rental section. Had to re-rent it a couple of times as it was hard for a young kid to really understand.
My brother and I would always rent this and Chameleon Twist from the video store near our house. I bought them both this year and I feel like a kid again haha
Such a good game. I should really go back and finish this game. I rented it once and bought it late in life from a pawn shop but got busy and never got at it
I remember renting this from blockbuster not knowing what to expect and was really impressed with the idea of being a microchip taking over other animals to solve puzzles it was so much fun, I'm going to have to try and hunt down another copy!
+Sam Dean you can emulate it on your computer if you cant find one
I've had this game since I was a kid; other than it being a little hard to control at times, it's definitely fun and interesting. I wish more people knew about it.
I have owned this game since it came out. I completed it before I got Majora's Mask, and had no clue that the expansion pack causes glitches. For over a decade, I thought I broke the game with the Gameshark 64. Turns out I just needed to pick up a jumper pack. Still, I played the levels that would work every now and then.
This game is so nostalgic for me, this is my favorite childhood favorite game. I remember almost all of my child hood playing through the levels and i remeber what i was doing during the time. Ill never forget how badly I wanted the Flying fox in the bonus level of Europe. Thanks to coding I was finally able to play as the Flying Fox! This game is just a Masterpiece. I wish they could remake this game for the newer generation of console or PC. This game is my Favorite of all time!
