I'm sorry, I was born and raised in Long Beach....And I would not eat any of the local fish there.
Facts..nothing caught off the shores or piers..waters are legend to be filth
I grew up fine. The waters are dirty too but I didn't know any better 😂 I used to fish with my dad when I was 9 years old 😢
The fish around the coast of those area are fine to consume for the most parts. We have scientists testing the waters and ocean life all year round. Stay away from bottom feeders, and disregard the skin and fat of the fish because thats where the chemicals accumulate.
They have charts of fishes you may consume around the area of fishing. Some you may eat more than others, and some modestly.
Its like this because big companies use to dump their chemical wastes around those ocean areas in the 60’s and 70’s which still has its affect till this day. Those are still being sued till this day i believe.
That being said, us human kind have ef’d up the ocean through out the world. Its almost impossible to find fish not infected with mercury or micro plastics.
It can’t be any worse than your local fish market I promise
@@konadude50 You have scientists that test out the local waters regularly. Reason being is being back in the 50s-60s big chemical corporations dump their waste in the near by ocean waters of Southern California polluting and affecting La all the way down to Dana point. La and Long beach had it worst.
That said, yearly it is getting much better. Theres fish that they tell you to avoid or ear in moderation such as the bottom feeders like spotted fin croakers, since chemicals tends to settle down at the ocean floors. Other fish are more safe to eat. But like anywhere around the world, fish should be eaten in moderation because human had messed up the environment to the point where theres metal toxins everywhere.
Hell yeah! Long beach is the next next fishing spot I'm going to. Great video
Good luck!🐟👏🏻
What bait are you guys using?
@@unforsakenfoods Squid 🦑
If you trying to catch leopard sharks you gotta fish the cabrillo pier in San Pedro at night
that water will give you an ear infection in 5 mins and yall are eating the fish?
Nice! Can you make a video showing us how to make the fish jerky and soup
so many signs saying not to eat fish near the long beach harbor too before they're contaminated
Light work for yall 💪
I used to fish there before all the park and shoreline was there.
A lot of mercury in that water dawg wouldn’t eat too much
I go for Mackerel and Bonito which are the palegic. Everything else is local mercury fish. 😕

@@Strawhatfisherman yes bro! really good!
The water in those inner harbors are contaminated. Same goes for San Pedro, with the run off from oil extraction.
Agree.. I only catch and release inside the LB channel walls
How about the San Gabriel River near the Jetty in long beach? Is that contaminated?

@@juanmoreno4494 you literally just go to the queen mary lol
Very poor judgment to eat anything from there, especially for the pregnant/breastfeeding. Please reconsider 🙏
@@Torch4ya I don’t judge what you eat, please don’t judge what we eat. What we eat is our business. Nobody is pregnant or breastfeeding over here pal.
Where in LB is this spot? Would love to give a try. Thank you!
Right next to the queen mary!
the QM is literally in the background. Should be an easy find
