Thanks, man. This just saved me lots of hassle and hundreds of dollars replacing my starter. It was just a bad starter relay. $20 and my CTS starts up right away.
This is actually awesome. I am having that exact code and have been trying to problem solve. (2014 BRZ Manual) I was just researching how to do the bypass switch because I have no idea what is shorted. I can obviously read codes so it is definitely not the ECM but it is really nice to know that I can still figure out a way to drive the car while I figure out this issue. 🤙🏻
Bloody helped! Thanks. Didn’t start straight off. But I must have touched maybe 1 and 4 cause it got smoking hot in seconds. Lucky I had gloves on. But I just plugged relay back in and it worked!
Thanks for your video. However, I wish you would have shown to us the diagram that relays have printed on the side to find out if you are talking about contacts 30 and 87 that other videos are also showing for other cars? It is always good to have more data than not enough. I hope you will tell us in a reply. Many thanks in advance.Regards from Florida
I had a question you said that you put a wire in your starter relay and then just put it down through to the push button but my push button has another wire that connects and I think that's the grounding wire where do I put that to
My 2003 CTS has been having this problem for months. I put a brand new starter relay in it and it still won't start so I have to use a little piece of copper wire to start it everyday.
I am trying to make a push start button like you mentioned. Can I solder wire to the starter relay leads then plug it in and run a push button start to it?
What would it mean if that doesn’t work? At Walmart now and it’s not cranking at all not starting and can’t get that to work...update it was the starter
So if u do this with starter relay adn it starts like it did in your video then u can rule out the starter solenoid, Right? Has got be before relay. Given the fact i have switched out relays and know the relay is good. Like the neutral safety switch or something else? Right?
this video helped me out so much! could not figure out what my issue was just had one click. i replace the relay and everything is perfect! a week later after driving all week im back to where i started. one click. im assuming its my starter now i was told it was replaced a year ago.. possibly loose wires or do you think my starter is finally shot?
the egine light was not coming on when u turn the key on and u had no com with the pcm. your jumping the starter wiring but that make no sense why then the computer turns on. there is a under lying problem here. the problem is the pcm is not turning on. sounds like can bus wiring not telling the pmc to turn on. what fixed the car?
It doesn't do anything when I do it. No sounds at all. Battery is good. Starter is new. All fuses look good. Any suggestions? It's like there's no power to the fuses

Okay I tried the paper clip trick and branded my fingers , SMH. It ran fine on the way to work stoped at the store came back out started fine ran fine , but when I went to leave work no clicking no nothing. So fist thing I checked was the starter relay fuse and it was blown so I replaced it and checked the wiring what I could around the starter and they seemed to be alright but it’s stuck here in the parking lot at work right now still haven’t figured out the problem
@@JaboTheMechanic thank you it blew another one today so I just went ahead and pulled the starter so I could check it I couldn’t see any bare wires but I couldn’t see them all. However it does seem like the threaded stub out from the starter solenoid is a little lose in the housing. So I’m thinking that maybe the issue . I have had that problem in the past on different vehicles.
We've tried this on an 2007 aura but the key contains a chip so we can't bypass it to start the car.so what else will start the car? Because I've bought a new one and it still, don't start after the car runs for a while till it cools off
If you have the key put it in the ignition then bypass the relay to start. The chip needs to be close enough like it would be normally. Otherwise people could hot wire and steal cars without the key
thanks for the hookup. This has been working well for me for a while. I connected and wired a toggle switch on mine . Just flip it it up to turn on. The thing is you have to turn it back down once it starts. I was away for the weekend and left my car with my dad and he needed to move it. He turned the switch on but never turned it back down once it started so the relay start on. When I got back the car don't turn over. Any idea as to what happened? Anyone?
