07 CTS 3.6L just replaced timing chains, new computer. Started up fine first day. Second day dash lights come on but fuel gauge doesn't work so I bypassed purple wire to constant hot at fuse block and it starts up. Starts fine after that until I let it sit a few hours then goes back to same no start problem. This is a new computer because we were eliminating probable causes for poor idle that ended up being the timing chains.

I replaced alternator on 05 CTS because everything went dark and when I charged battery in negative would get super hot and drain battery instantly, with new alternator only thing that comes on is check engine light and key still stuck in ignition, but cable isn’t getting hot
First off, thank you for the detailed video! I'm struggling with this issue on an 05 SRX. I know it's blowing the ECM anytime the battery gets connected. Seems like a short somewhere. You mentioned that there's a notorious wiring issue and pointed to the back of the passenger head. What's that issue you're referring to. Also, what was the short issue in that ignition coil connector you mentioned? Hope you see this and can help me out! Ive already gone through two computer :(

I jump from the purple wire To the hot and it turns over and with the key on it strarts but the tc light is still on and and the trans shifts shifts rough. If I let the car run for a while I can turn it off and pull the key out and pu it back it in and it starts and the tc light is off and most of the time the trans is perfect. wierd. some times i have to start it 3 or 4 times for the trans to work right. if I drive the car a lot it is fine. nsent the computer and had it checked and they said it was fine. Flashmasters. what do you think. could it be a sensor? P>S> that works every time.
2023 july im having same exact issue same everything!! 2004 3.6 !! i just bought a new one from oreilly and took car over to dealer for programming they wrote the vin to computer and programmed something about the anti theft system. still same issue?
Im having the same issues with the anti theft system light coming on as well as the tc light coming on. Car starts just fine and I can hear the fuel pump comingb on but my gas and temp gauge don't work. Could that still lead to a bad ecm?
I have an 04 and my issue is the ecm but I was able to turn it on jumping the purple wire to the bolt, now when I turn the key my gas level doesn't move untill I open the flaps on the throttle body and I'm not getting power on the fuel pump I test to see the relay and I'm only getting power on pin 30. I jumped pin 30 to the one next to it I got the fuel pump working but not getting any fuel to the engine no fuel pressure.

I bought a 2012 cadillac cts 3.6 the ecm was missing so I bought another used..it does match..but I had someone came out to program it but when he came out..he said that the security systems turns off but the car still doesn't crank nor start..if u have some suggestions would be much appreciated thanks
I have a 09 CTS 3.6 Direct injection,I changed starter battery I just noticed from your video that my gauges not working when I try to start the car nothing happens no click . That means I’m having the same issue correct and if so the ecm is on the right side of the fuse box ?
hello I have the same problem on a 2007 cadillac sts 3.6 same thing, start by removing the starter relay and do the jumper wire, now what I don't know is if the ( INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULE ) does not send the wake up signal to the ECM , I mean because ones I by pass the relay the vehicle start, and start every time until the ecm goes back to sleep
Ok I have changed my alternator,fuses,relays, ignition switch, battery, and still no power when turning the key over to start.no power at all and key get stuck in ignition.no power to hook up the scan tool .any other suggestions ?

@@julsztate24 i never changed the ecm i just went thru and un hooked everything took out the fusebox unhooked the ecm ,ignition,grounds,next day i hooked it all back up put a good battery in kicked it over from under the hood at the solinoid a few times then started it rite up with the key and its been running ever since with out a problem .so it must of just been a bad ground cause she still starts rite up n drives fine now.but ya i tore the whole damn steering column n ignition apart n all never changed anything..
@@luckythomas2794 i just found the issue on accident. I was getting frustrated and started pulling cables and lines and to my suprise the lights lit up. My issue was the 3 cables that "T" into a little gray clip just before the fuse box pretty much next to the shock absorber pad. Pulled the wire protector back and repaired cut wires
I have an 03 CTs no crank, just a click tried to bypass the relay, and tried to jump it, there is a crack in my ECM connector harness. Car was jerking when coming to stops and saying service idle control. Is it the ECM ?
Having same problem had it diagnosed at dealership for 150 dollars they said ECM failure they wanted. 1400 dollars to fix it. I decided to by pass them... I ordered a preprogrammed ECM for my 2006 CTS (2.8) it should be here tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens
Ground wire that you showed and claim it can cause problems does nothing. whole ecm is screwed into steel bracket that is bolted onto aluminum engine block, that grounding wire does nothing. ECM went bad as thousands of others did, very very common problem on CTS
Did it end up being the ECM? I have a Cadillac CTS 05 No communication Key stuck in IGN. All the same symptoms. I have bypassed it by jumping the purple wire but it reverts after I turn IGN to OFF. I've installed a plug-and-play ECM but it didn't work. Do I need one completely reprogrammed so the theft can be rewritten?
@@DrewPrueitt I was quoted $1,499 for an OEM computer at a reputable dealership, but I think I was given wholesale price. I ended up paying around $1,100 for the ECM. It should take a good technician 1hr or less to replace and code the computer. That was it. Starts up just fine ever since.

what was the fix to this car. ecm is not turning on i see no light in the dash then u jump the starter wiring and it turn the pcm. your problem is pcm is not powering up. so how did u fix it.
2006 Cadillac CTS injector 6 open Plus misfire change out every injector change out the coil changing out the spark plugs new injector harness still the same thing open circuit on number 6 and misfire
You Donot Need To Do Nothing Of This Video, Try To Reset ECM First And Then See If You Fixed Your Problem. What Is Happening Is Sometimes Theft Deterrent Gets Activated When You Open Door Without Key And Lose Communication Between Key And ECM. GM Made Garbage In That Years. Amén.

All 3 lights on and shuts down at heavy braking and multiple problems hope this works

If your key is getting stuck it may be your ECM, definitely if it says service theft system, only other problem I believe would be the starter.

To check for voltage the battery has to be disconnected?
