I've been to the park twice with my new lomax 2's and i'm sold. They are responsive, light and quick! I'm already more comfortable in them than i ever was in my valos or cults (both awesome skates) I had to put some yoga mats in the boots to kill some of the vibration from our crappy sidewalks and roads but that fixed the issue and made them great to commute with too. You made me want to go back today but i'm busy cutting firewood 👎
Your royales are so much more solid and confident on the Aeons, and look better too. I think the difference to the VII's is not just the material but the angle too. Too upright/"easy" of a backslide angle puts your back foot behind your center of gravity and makes it hard to keep your boot down.... like you're "pulling" your back foot along with you, instead of pushing into it.
I can't imagine going back to a normal ufs frame after using my Aeon. BUT, why aren't there Aeon style xsjado soul-frames, and why aren't the axles keyed on one side to make rotating faster.
@@BacktoBlading @Ek-nz super wide souls sometimes stick more, especially on park ledges because the soul hangs over onto the concrete more instead of just being on the metal... Really wide souls also mean that as you lean over on a trick, your foot is further away and higher from the ledge. It's kind of counter intuitive that old worn out (narrower) souls are both a little harder to lock on (smaller area) but you sit closer to the ledge which is a little more intuitive. Closer to the ledge is always more intuitive, thus low/flat heel skates being easier to do topsides (because your foot is parallel to the side of the ledge instead of raised up like a high heel shoes. Its part of why K2 Fattys (plus the often small wheels used, like 55mm was common in those days) were so easy for topsides.
I’m on the fence about getting the Aeon 60 basic. Came back from blading after 16 years and got a pair of Derek Henderson 2s that I put some mega frames on and some DH wheels and they are great but just SOOOO heavy! I’ve heard these are lighter due to the construction. I’m just on the fence cause a lot of vids praise them but the local bladers I’ve talked to said they were crap?(But they all ride Razors or Roces)? I don’t grind a lot Mainly look for speed for gaps/airs etc. Your thoughts please Sensei!!
I loved the Aeon but they’re not for everyone. Your SL are really good, not at all heavy. Maybe just get some lighter frames? Aeon are lighter for sure but not by a ton.
as an older guy i like watching your vids. i will be trying your wheels after a few more hours on my Dead 58s 92/95a. softer is definitely what im looking forward to. i just wonder why you dont use elbow pads? i wear full pads when i skate, just cant afford to sustain injury and not be able to work.
Back to Blading i look forward to you doing an elbow pad review. i know you still rock those g shock slip on one so the g shock elbows would be a good start. keep up the good work, we need more like you.
@@BacktoBlading thanks. i dont know your sewing skill level but i know you can buy them to add to clothes so it cant be that difficult (or get someone to do it for you) all the best
@@BacktoBlading your a "true" 10 yeah? That boots a 10 11 so that may be it. I haven't put my foot in that shell in over 15 years. I know I could ride classic thrones before I quit and couldn't when I came back. Was kinda just wondering as reference to your reviews.
Haha, well it’s my baseline for reviewing setups. I do the same tricks so I know how each setup performs relatively. I’ll work on some new stuff for you next session
@@BacktoBlading You should try and find a ledge at the top of a ramp, I love those and they're super easy to grind bc you kinda float onto them. Mix it up a little!
The Aeons felt so lose and cuffless when I tried them on. Horrible feeling with no support for me and I've heard others mention the same feeling regarding the "doesn't feel like there is a cuff" comment. They do seem to be marmite skates. You either love or hate them.
Just wanted to let you know that you are a huge inspiration to me and have inspired me to start my own RUclips channel
Awesome! Thanks for watching and helping to share the sport.

That’s great to hear. I forgot how good they were.
I was watching one of your first videos where you were getting back to royals.... you've come a long way man. I love what you're doing.
Thanks! Skating every weekend really helps progress. Also feeling much healthier than I did
Good to see you went for a roll on my birthday. May the 4th be with you ✊🏼
Happy birthday!
Whew. Almost missed pre-order. Thanks for bringing it back
Thanks for the support!
Your royales on that rail are really good, man. No arm swing or nothin' - nice and controlled.
Thanks! Felt real solid that day.

That’s a good call. I think these are my favorite skates for a reason. They’re just perfect for my style of skating. Appreciate the comment Al!

Agreed!
Mine stick too, that's why I had so much trouble learning soul. Not confident enough to simply increase speed so keep sticking all the time!
I think there’s a trick to it, but need to skate them more. Plan to stay on the Aeon for a while.

I took my straps to cleaners, had them sew them together so they’d stop coming undone. So far so good.
Yep, I forgot about that since I skated them last. Need to do the same.
Royales on dial and the unity was great
Thanks for the kind words!
I realy love the low rail at the end. need a flight ticket to that place lol
Haha! Lemme know when you’re here and I’ll meet you at the park
I picked up the new xix 60 aeons. I LOVE them!!

Damn that looks like fun.
I miss blading 😔
Get out there!

Thanks for the support! I really need to get some elbow pads, just not falling on them so I don’t prioritize them. It’s stupid of me though.

When it sticky after waxing I wax my sole and the frame it works for me
I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!
Havnt watched one of ur vids in a little while and wow man your always getting better makin it look easy now
Thank you!
I just ordered the Aeon 60 XIX all white.
Those are beautiful!
I'm considering buying those... or the M12 Nils by Roces. What's the main difference according to you?
M12 is a classic boot, good for most people. Aeon is the future, low profile, internal shock absorber, 45 degree strap. Aeon would get my money
you could put a press stud/ popper fastener on the velcro strap that would work well. all the best
Hmm, that’s a good idea!

My wife might need to help me there. :)
I have a question for you. Would you consider your foot a wider foot? I've noticed you ride a lot of skates that I see suggested for wide foot people.
I fit m12 in my size, so I think that’s a non-wide foot. Not sure though. I need to measure

Hard to say. I’m 28.5 cm long but need to measure width.
Do the Aeon run small or big because they're sold as Dual Size, I wear 10.5 US men so should I get the 9-10 OR 11-12 size?
I’d measure your feet in cm and see. I’m 28.5cm and ride the 9-10
@@BacktoBlading I'm also 28.5cm did you had to heat mold for it to feel comfortable
Dude, give up on that silly ledge with no approach and skate that rail all the time! #WOOT!
Hah, if I could cut down the trees, maybe. :)

I’ll get on that, lol
Hot glue the instep strap. Super easy and it has held 100% for me for over a year.
Ah, that’ll work
What kind of blades do you recommend for first timers ?
Depends on first time to blading in general, or aggressive
Donte Chan I wanna know for both because I wanna get one for aggressive and just for cruising
Donte Chan also in affordable price range
got to do it!! FIRST!!!
Nice vid nice grinding peace
Thanks!
You should find a ledge you can hit faster, you keep slowing to a stop...
Yes. This is my local but it’s super awkward. My favorite ledge is a bit more of a drive than I had time for today.

Interesting. I haven’t heard that but I don’t have many people skating them here. Might be the foot size and shell break?
This time I didn’t hear the wheels sliding on the ledge.
Nope! Bigger split, these frames are incredible
