    Jason has always been overshadowed by Cliff for being "not as good as him", but do you really have such expectations for people? Jason is an amazing bassist and he deserves more attention in my opinion

      Jason played all of Cliff's parts, and played them well. With a pick. He was bad ass, and as much as I like Rob, I'll always miss Jason.

      He was as good, check out the first Flotsam and Jetsam album, his bass lines are killer and he also wrote many of the songs. No doubt Lars and James heard that album and were blown away. But after Burton and Mustaine wrote all their early material they felt indignant about letting someone else come in and do that again.

      @@aaronenduro3168 well i play guitar and picked up my bass to try and didn't really have any issues tremolo picking out some cross-string riffs on it for about a couple minutes before I got bored and decided that I proved the point to myself. • @archangel5627
      @archangel5627 4 года назад +10

      RG Series Jason knew how to punch up the bottom end of Metallica’s music and his bass lines made Lars’s drumming sound so much better! Jason’s bass playing and style followed Lars’s drumming which is the primary role of a bass player. There are always opportunities that allow the bass player to throw in a bass solo or add to a guitar riffs breakdown, but bass should always follow the drums because they are the rhythm section of a band. Jason new this and his work with Metallica shows. The bottom end of most Metallica songs since Jason’s departure have never been the same!

    His bass solo on "Metalshock" by Flotsam and Jetsam is worth checking out. He wrote a majority of their "Doomsday for the Deceiver" album.

    Jason’s Footprint in Metallica will forever be remembered. No matter what anybody says; fans or the band, he was a bad*** m**********. And so much energy on stage

    I especially liked how he worked some flamenco feeling into the "My Friend Of Misery" intro and then of course he always got the little tribute to his old band in there (all us old timers know which part that is) since he wrote most everything on that first album of theirs anyway. I agree, Jason got shat on way too hard by fans and by the band themselves and I don't blame him for his feelings towards them. He's a great player in his own right.

    watched his first video on his channel and subscribed.. he is very humble about his ability and he is still honored to have played as part of the force which was 90's Metallica.
    The other guys in the band are not humble, Kirk claims to be humble but hes not!

    Rob and Jason two different playing technique and both very talented no doubt about it. Something about Jason made the band more metal and a monster energy with him on stage. Guy played his ass off and gave it everything he had. Jason was heavy metal

    Controversial opinion but Jason is my Metallica Bass Player. I love the heart and soul he brought to the band and the childlike wonderment. When he left I really stopped listening to them, not on purpose just felt like that little special something flickered out with his departure.

    Meanwhile in a parallel universe: Cliff is alive and well, Jason was added as a second bassist for the Justice album, and Metallica is a base for all metal music to be compared to so much more than they are in this universe.
