I rented a GT3 RS a few years ago from RSR and the experience was amazing! I would absolutely recommend this experience. The best part was overtaking a 458 Italia in a long sweeper... automotive bliss!!

Has Sabine Schmitz ever tested for Formula 1? All the other female drivers testing for F1 are about her age and I bet she's quicker. She's mastered the 'Ring, and I bet she'd test extremely well in F1. Who would not want to see Sabine Schmitz on an F1 grid? And I bet there are a ton of German companies that would sponsor a drive for her with one of the "pay to drive" teams. She could show her speed there then who knows? Maybe one of the head of the pack teams will come calling, Riciardo from Toro Rosso to Red Bull-style.

sultanabran1 Yes it is a big jump, but Sabine has raced in things like the Nurburgring 24 Hours, and if given the chance, I think should test very well in a Formula 1 car. One of Williams's prime female test drivers came from DTM, so, I think Sabine with GT3 class racing experience would adapt and test quite well in an F1 car for starters.
As for the Sabine vs. Jackie Stewart thing, the GT3 class that Sabine has raced in have cars that do lap times similar to what an old Matra could do. And I think even Stewart himself would admit his reaction times aren't what they used to be, so if the younger Sabine had time to adapt to the Matra, who knows? I think even Jackie would admit to that.
As racing drivers go, Sabine is a driver of moderate ability. She has raced a lot of things at a lot of tracks with fair to middling results. She does go exceptionally well at the Green Hell, but she was doing laps there as a passenger, a child, with her father, I think. She knows that piece of road better than anybody, and that means a lot at the Ring.
Kneedragon1962 Yeah, I heard she was riding as a passenger as a kid, as well. She's still a pretty good driver I think, and if she is given the chance to adapt the way she takes corners at the 'Ring to corners on different tracks, I think she'd do very well.
I hate to say anything bad about her because she's like a hero to me and has been since I first saw her on Top Gear UK years back, but I agree she is by no means the quickest female driver out there. The best are already testing with Formula 1 teams. Man, was it a tragedy when that one female driver had that accident when the car suddenly accelerated into a trailer. She survived it I think, but ended up being found dead in a hotel room if I remember correctly. Whatever happened, she died, and it is tragic because she was so young and had some real talent. Death can be sad in general, but especially, as an F1 nut who was watching when Senna died in Imola, it's extra sad to see when someone dies as a result of driving an F1 car.

It is not a jump. They are two different types of cars. Just because a person is good a open wheel cars does not mean they will be as good in a GT car.

Very true :) it is highly evolved though and both 458 and 9112 GT3 RD would drive rings around around any beetle or fiat.
+Tobi this is almost totally incorrect. Other than a flat engine design, they share nothing in common. The RS is water-cooled not air-cooled, revs to 8K, has variable valve timing, variable cam timing - intake and exhaust, aNS has a lot more than 25 HP, for starters. Yeah, just like a '38 Beetle...
+Tobi I understand exactly what you meant. You either have never pulled an engine apart or just have a tangential understanding of them, but other than the '38 Beetle and the GT3 RS sharing the idea of pistons going "sideways" instead of other designs, they share nothing. Literally nothing. The RS engine is not push rod, air cooler, carbureted, etc. Ergo, it's not "based" on the '38 Beetle.

having said that, we cant neglect the fact that the porsche 356, had a beetle engine and suspension parts. so the "porsche=beetle" pune has a small truth in it, but obviously not in modern cars
That started over 60 years ago. I'm hardly a Porsche nut, but say a 997.2 GT3 with a Metzger has nothing in common with a 356, except pistons going sideways and an engine in the back.
The camera car seems the fastest of them all (all those "slow down so we can get a good shot" is irritating to watch).

i love both they are both the king of sports cars but the porsche is better bang for buck iv owned ferrari and porsche ferrari's are pain in the ass maintence wise and to many bug you when you drive it, a porsche drives on rails barley needs service and people leave you alone when they see you in it

Sabine signed off my Manthey Motorsport modded Porsche 996 GT3 Mk1 Clubsport. Manthey fitted their KWV3 custom suspension and used Sabine to help fine tune the setup. A Pro instructor at Spa reconned it was one of the nicest balanced 996 GT3s he had even been in… so thanks Sabine, it’s nice to have some of your DNA in my little sportscar. 😊
