For anyone that reads this, the directions are MOSTLY right. I just did this tonight and saw the cowl "lifts" above the window like in the video here. There is a "clip" lip that runs the length of the old cowl that has to be gently popped out and removed and installed on the new cowl. Without that, the cowl will lift and run the risk of never sitting right.
Did this today. Great video, thanks. Please be aware that there is a small trim piece on the bottom of the windshield that holds the cowl flush against the glass. Mine came off with the old cowl and it drove me nuts wondering why the new cowl wouldn't lay down correctly. If this happens, peel the strip off the old cowl and install it on the new one. The OEM Ford cowl does not come with this piece and you need it.
This is useful, the seal has perished on my Fiesta where the cowling meets the windscreen. Also one of the wiper springs is a bit “creaky”. I can probably tackle it myself thanks to this video. 👍
@@CentralFLCars Okay finally did it. The cowl believe it or not was actually in really good condition. When putting the cowl back in, it seemed like it needed to fit in nice and snug in order to fit properly. The ends were more tightly fitted to where the center felt more loose.
Changing the windshield trim molding took years off my car's appearance. Didn't realize it was so easy until I saw this video. Gonna be tackling that cowl next, lol.
Thanks for this video especially to warn me about that nasty little hook at the top of the side trims, I bet Ford make a fortune when people snap it off and have to buy another one. All the other clips just pull out but the top ones a hook slide it down so you don't snap it off.
Thanks for the parts numbers. Yes, those top clips on the side moldings are VERY flimsy and mine broke when I tried to reseat it also, even being aware of this. Took no resistance. Ended up caulking it into place. My old ones were so rotted they gummed up the clips so recommend blowing them out with a compressor first if that’s the case. I was also missing four of the six existing cowl clips. Either they fell out or when I got my windshield replaced earlier they weren’t put back in. Just something to be aware of. Removing the wipers took quite a bit of strong wiggling to get them off.
Also good to note that the cowl seal along the bottom of the windshield seats into a continuous run that is installed against the windshield, to keep it snug against the glass.
Does a little bit of the rubber slot under the glass when the mouldings are on like a shower screen like it slots in with rubber underneath and on top with the glass wedged in
I got the left moulding (or weatherstrip) and the retainer too. Then I realized that it was only matter of replacing the moulding. What can I do with the retainer? Could I return it to TASCA? I still have pave it on its package.
I think this is the case on all or certain models, yes. These moldings are almost all aesthetic and for water shedding purposes only. The real watertight seal is the sealant between the windshield and frame. I imagine if there’s something just clipped in across the top it’d be subject to pretty strong wind load.

I love it, thank you. I have a 2013 se that spent 7 years in the desert sun. I didn't know it was this easy, I'm doing it next week!
Glad it helped!

Terimakasih atas videonya, sangat bermanfaat 👍
do you have to take the cowl off to install the new trim?
No, both or mine were bad so I did it at the same time

Hi my friend.. I have the same issue. Molding parts I need to change.. So retainer is not require for me.. Right?
Is there suppose to be a moulding on top of the windshield also ?
No trim on the top of the windshield.
No seal goes over the top of the windshield?

Where did you get the trim from? If Ford quoted me the correct ones they wanted $95 each.

Did you buy the replacements from the dealer or did you find a good deal?
I bought from the dealer 🙃
