Love Love Love LOVE Mämmi, or Memma as we call it in Sweden 😊 My grandmother on my mothers side is from Finland so it has been an Easter tradition since always in my family. Thanks for a great channel! Glad Påsk 🐣
No, there's no coconut butter in it or hazzelnut filling. It has cocoa butter (made from cocoa, not coconut) and the entire egg is made from almond and hazelnut paste.
Omg i love "mämmi" =D, can't wait until next easter. Traveling from Sweden to Finland with a finnish friend to do all these things you must do while in Finland, for example the moomin museum in Tampere. But the main thing is eating mämmi & have a "Tähti olut" =). Always love going to Finland =).
pro tip: after cracking the egg once on a table or something, put it on the table "sideways" (I have no idea how to explain that) and roll it along the table while pressing it with your hand. The top half of the shell will come right off!
Well actually Mignon isn't chocolate, it's nougat, so if you are allergic to nuts, be aware of it. Mignon is my all-time favourite "candy" because of the smooth silky milky taste! There are a couple of trending mignon desserts this year, for example mignon hot chocolate or ice cream with mignon dressing if you want to try them out :)
David my son I see you have found the joys of the Mignon egg. Once upon a time they even served those to the tzar of Russia - so it's literally good enough for nobilities even!
Oh, the memories! I used to trick my younger cousins by telling that you can eat the eggshell from mignon egg because it's made from sugar ( which clearly is bs ) and they tried to eat those shells. Also, Mämmi is pretty good, in my opinion it's better without sugar though.
You need to go and visit Fazer's experience center at Vantaa, mainly because of the Fazer candy store there! Think of all the yummies, such a sugar high heaven. (Good bye teeth). I love the moment in the end of video where both of you wait to see if other one moves to get the milk XD Happy Easter for both of you
Hämeenlinna (about 100 km from Helsinki) has Kipin Grilli which has deep fried mämmi. BEsides having the best burgers in Finland, he has these crazy ideas once in a while. He serves it through the easter. So sad we lost him from here Riihimäki.
Hi Dave and Cat: the pastry you tried is called a "cheese Danish" in English, but it isn't Danish at all. It is Russian: one is a "pirozhok" and three or more are "pirozhki" (And no one can ever eat just two!). Yes, it is "quarky," but the cheese is made a bit differently than quark, is a bit more solid, and is called "tvorog." Adding raisins is really old school. :-) Tvorog is also used to make the "pasha" you also tried. And "pasha" is of course Russian too. So we are seeing the influences of the Russian Empire in Suomi. Cat's grandmother use of a Melitta coffee filter to mold it produces a shape similar to that from molds traditional used in Russian Orthodox homes. Raisins or candied fruit peel, or both are add to pasha. Bon appétit !
I'm a huge fan of mämmi. Sometimes I even eat it with custard. It really works. So much chocolate here. I don't really like chocolate that much. So for me the favorites here were mämmi and rahkapulla.
Pasha is indeed a originally russian easter treat and traditionally it is eaten on top of kulitsa (that's just the Finnish word for it. it may be called something else in russian) which is a form of bun. I know this because my father's wife's family is orthodoxic christian and has karelian roots.
Mämmi is fantastic. Some manufacturers make it too sour though, which isn't that good. Pasha is some kind of eastern orthodox thing, mainly served in Russia and Ukraine etc. I haven't even heard anyone mention pasha in Finland before, wasn't aware it's sold here.
easier way to crack mignon eggs is to press it from bottom and top with your fingers (try to compress it) the shell cracks clean and allmost all the way
Thumbs up for Mämmi! You're almost a real Finnish dude already. Pro tip: when you want a little change, try it with Vanilla sauce (I prefer the thick Valio Vanilla). That's how I like my Mämmi. Mmmmmmm....
YES to mämmi if it’s Saarioisten and only cream on top no sugar, ruins the whole thing 😄 The Easter Egg Mignon is not made from chocolate, it is almond-hazelnutnougat.
Seems like you are going to have few foods/sweets that are available only during seasons, so it would be nice to have some kind of comparison between those holiday/season specialities. It would be nice to know if you are missing some specialities / traditional dishes from UK. It would be great if you both could find and tell your favorite seasons/holidays by food/sweets.
Good. I’ve tried mämmi recently, soon Pasha 🙂 Haven’t found the Fazer egg yet. What’s store do I find Fazer Egg? We live on the border of Sweden & Finland.
"What's the point with mämmi?" - "It tastes like heaven" Best description for the point of eating mämmi so far.

Try warm MÄMMI and VANILLA ICE CREAM. Or cold mämmi with Flora Vanilla
I like watching your videos because I've lived abroad for 3 years now and sometimes get homesick. Thanks Dave!
Mignon egg is actually nougat not chocolate
Ranskulainen Nougat chocolate*
No it is made of 100% heavenite, which is a magical substance only found in heaven and smh transported to us puny hoomans.
Ranskulainen Well... kinda. It's just coconut butter, hazelnut filling and cocobutter
Pinkfluffy keepsinging And it's delicious.
No, there's no coconut butter in it or hazzelnut filling. It has cocoa butter (made from cocoa, not coconut) and the entire egg is made from almond and hazelnut paste.
Timing on the comedy and editing is spot on in this one :D laughed out loud many times
I like when you say "ohhoh" 😂😂
Make your own sima
Welcome to Finland Dave! Hope you enjoy the freezing winters and summers full of mosquitos
Omg i love "mämmi" =D, can't wait until next easter.

Always love going to Finland =).
Mämmi is soooo goooood. I'm also amazed how many people hate it.
Myy100 Not the only one. Also i think that majority of finns do like it.
Mämmi is the best thing ever. I cannot imagine how i could spend 24 years of my life not having it 😍😂
i think that the people who hate it are just more vocal about it than the people who like it
Cassu6 fair enough. I just had 2 weeks ago a conversation with someone who was very heated and vocal abouy how much he hates it :DDD
Cat's "Nämen" at 4:00 is soooo quintessentially Fenno-swedish xD
Have you tried those tiny hazelnut-filled eggs? I think most brands name them 'ruohomunat' (grass eggs). They are soooo good
I was going to suggest the same thing, they are the BEST!
Aw Dave, Kat's facial expressions crack me up! 🤣 this one for me is the funniest so far 😘
pro tip: after cracking the egg once on a table or something, put it on the table "sideways" (I have no idea how to explain that) and roll it along the table while pressing it with your hand. The top half of the shell will come right off!
Happy easter dave and cat!
Happy Easter! :D
Mämmi is super good!

Happy easter everybody
I love Mämmi. In Sweden it is called Memma.
Männi is soooo good i just had it for the first time last week and I don’t regret trying it out!
David my son I see you have found the joys of the Mignon egg. Once upon a time they even served those to the tzar of Russia - so it's literally good enough for nobilities even!

There is actually Mämmi cream stout made by Laitila. Definitely the best way to enjoy your mämmi, if you really have to eat mämmi during Easter.
I love how Dave is always eating Mämmi and Cat is always in her mind like "OMG this is so disgusting!" 😂😂😂
You need to go and visit Fazer's experience center at Vantaa, mainly because of the Fazer candy store there! Think of all the yummies, such a sugar high heaven. (Good bye teeth). I love the moment in the end of video where both of you wait to see if other one moves to get the milk XD Happy Easter for both of you
I eat my mämmi with vanilla sauce and no added sugar. I love it! 😍
I really looove Mämmi. Mummu makes the best one
In finnish fest called "vappu" search from shops for "Tippaleipä" it tastes so good
I love mämmi! It's my favorite thing on easter!😍
Love love love mämmi, without cream, without sugar, delicious. ♥
Hämeenlinna (about 100 km from Helsinki) has Kipin Grilli which has deep fried mämmi. BEsides having the best burgers in Finland, he has these crazy ideas once in a while. He serves it through the easter. So sad we lost him from here Riihimäki.
I LOVEEE mämmi, but with vanilla sauce/vanilla cream(?) instead of milk or regular cream
RAHKAPULLA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tai oikeestaan ne on rahka piirakoita tai englanniksi cream pie😂

Mämmi is love, mämmi is life🙌❤️
I could eat mämmi all year long. It tastes like perfection and heals stomach.
Mingnom is just hazelnutbutter and cocoa butter. Just look for yourself. It doesn't contain Milk, lactose or gluten
Im from Finland and i love mämmi!
LOVE mämmi. Have to eat it with cream though.
I live in finland and i have that exact same bowl you put sugar in!!!
U should try mämmi with very good, creamy vanilla sauce. It's awesome 😍😍
Mämmi is delicious with vanilla sauce or cream. No sugar, because it is already sweet.
I love mämmi
the Fazer egg is nougat chocolad and is excellent!
Mämmi hecking rocks!!
I'm a huge fan of mämmi. Sometimes I even eat it with custard. It really works. So much chocolate here. I don't really like chocolate that much. So for me the favorites here were mämmi and rahkapulla.
I love mämm!. I'm from Sweden and we usually have the one from Fazer only.
I live in finland and I love mämmi
Fun fact: Mignons first came out in 1896 and is one of of the oldest Fazers treats that are still in production.
Next year you can make your own pasha. the shops do not give a real experience of the dish but look for a Russian recipe if you do make it yourselves.
Pasha is indeed a originally russian easter treat and traditionally it is eaten on top of kulitsa (that's just the Finnish word for it. it may be called something else in russian) which is a form of bun. I know this because my father's wife's family is orthodoxic christian and has karelian roots.
Still interested in your UK friends and familys reaction and comments of you moving to Helsinki 😊
We usually eat homemade pasha with pieces of grapes, pineapple and peach. I think it tastes better that way!
I like mämmi but this year I loved it!
"whats the point with mämmi?"
"it tastes like heaven"
Mämmi is f***ing amazing! It's so 5/5! I don't know how you couldn't like it.
Mämmi is the real deal ! Yea !
I looooove mämmi. I just ate a giant bowl of it while watching this.
Mämmi is my life!
Dave's really enjoying Finnish Easter :D
That pasha comes from my hometown, Lieksa :)
easier way to crack mignon eggs is to press it from bottom and top with your fingers (try to compress it) the shell cracks clean and allmost all the way
I've never cared too much for mämmi, but this year I've been eating lots of it. And I eat it with vanilla-creme, you should try it!
Thumbs up for Mämmi! You're almost a real Finnish dude already. Pro tip: when you want a little change, try it with Vanilla sauce (I prefer the thick Valio Vanilla). That's how I like my Mämmi. Mmmmmmm....
I LOVEEE MÄMMI!

I love pasha!!
U should make a video where you try different fazer suklaa flavors!
Try mämmi with vanilla sauce, it's delicious
Mämmi is my fav!
Mämmi+Kerma=Heaven
Mämmi for life!
I like mämmi either without anything or with vanilla sauce.
I don't know why but it warms my heart that you like mämmi so much :'D even though I don't.... weird. Anyway...
I like homemade mämmi, but it is long progress to do. Happy easter all! 🌿🐣🌿
