Once again. Salmiakki is not liqorice. It's often mixed with liqorice, but salmiakki is a different thing. Liqorice is a plant. Salmiakki is lab made salt of ammonia
Indeed, I was just about to comment on this myself. I guess it confuses some people that the candy industry has decided to associate both with black color (which neither are without a strong black dye).
Salmiakki on ammoniumkloridilla eli salmiakilla maustettu lakritsimakeinen.

Dave you are having the same taste experience with salmiakki as many Finnish kids. At first they hate it and cannot understand why their parents or older siblings like it. Then they get to taste it every now and then and slowly get better tolerance to salmiakki. But then comes a day when they can say that they actually like or even love the taste of salmiakki. You'll get there - just wait. 😉
I remember you tasting Ahaa chocolate in your irtokarkki video and you said it was boring and didn’t taste like anything 😂 I remember it because it’s my favourite chocolate and I was like NOOOOO so this new opinion was interesting to hear! 😆
Halva X-Salt Salmiakki is actually just basic Salty liquorice covered with sugar with a hint of Ammonium chloride. That should tell you how strong Ammonium chloride aka Salmiac is, the salmiac sugar that covers the candy is something like 90% sugar and 10% of Ammonium chloride. Pure Ammonium chloride powder actually corrodes metal, steel and concrete if you let it stay there long enough and we Finns enjoy eating that stuff.
When are you gonna do a taste test of just Fazer chocolate bars with different flavors? :D My favorite is definetly the hazelnut one (a lot of finns like it) and then marianne and lontoo rae are also quite good~
Im so happy that those pommix have come pack, they were one of my favorites as a child, an they were as irtokarkki, about 1985-1989 or something... There was then only maybe ten irtokarkki- products, and those lemon ones was one of them, so those are made again for us who lived on that crazy time on 1980's. 😊
Will soon jump on a flight to Finland for a 10 month stay. Thank you for all of the help in getting culturally prepared. I look forward to your future videos!
Ahaa is one of my all time favorite chocolates :) I don't know why, but it has this very special, unique flavor that I like. It's been years though since I ate one. I just wish Fazer and other chocolate manufacturers in Finland would find peanut butter already! Berries, yogurt, berries everywhere. Meh. But chocolate, cookies, ice cream and pastries made with peanut butter... I'm waiting for the day!
Finland started to received cocoa powder after the war early 1948. My granfather was head hunted to be the chocolate master to start chokolate production for the brand we now know as Panda.
