This is great for my new creative push after reading Atomic Habits. Working on new workflows which include Blender and other software. Your teachings are honestly, the best. Thanks now and in advance. Cheers Derek.
@@DerekElliott I hear ya. I'm not a strong book reader and this one was probably the 3rd book in my life I actually started and finished. Just bought a couple more similar books in hopes to change that....and make it a new habit.
In comparison, it is like instead of telling what a cutlass is, you demonstrated how is can be applied. Thanks for consolidating those tools in a single tutorial.
I also have used this exact method a lot ever since I kinda figured it out. Most of the time I don't even bother getting a monochrome picture and just use a colorramp to determine the outlines. Great tutorial, I can't recommend this enough for quick texturing!
Just finished the donut tutorial. I am now working on something similar and wanted to make a little coffee scene. Already modelled the mug but it sucked. Than I saw this tutorial, also the UV unwrapping is very helpful. Thank you for this!
The Donut is the portal we all must travel though. Remember not to be too hard on yourself, every time you try you're learning. Good luck on your journey. See you in a year.
Can't wait for LLM copilots to be integrated into Blender! Have it do all the steps, include node stuff, and then you can just go in and reverse engineer its steps to see how it accomplished something.
WOW!!! Thanks! I didn´t even know that ColorRamp works for this kind of shaders. I used to mix shaders using alpha channel to neutralize and mask materials, but this way is more efficient. (sorry for my poor english, I only hope that what I said make some sense)
Color ramp is great but sometimes I use the mix shaders too. Works about the same if you're just using B/W. The alpha can be good too though for a "third" value. B/W/Alpha
I got a lot of fun! Nice and simple! For me would be better to see additionally animation skill. How you did this at the begining of your tutorial. Thank you DEREK!
Thanks for the Tutorial Mr. Derek, please i will request if you can help Us make a Full Tutorial base on Object UV Mapping we will really appreciate sir.
This is awesome Derek. I wanna actually have my own db business cup made...I really have been lazy learning to use Blender more. Especially since I have a 3090 5900x pc.
Hello! I have a Q. Same light same studio but your project is so shiny. Why is my project too solid. Guys I need your help. Maybe my set up is different.(I don't think so) Can you help me ?
It have something to do with the size of your object and his. Make sure to measure while you model. For example - A coffee cup should be a coffee cup sized. Not 6 feet.
It depends on 3 things 1 Display of Derreck used 2 The video after may be after Compositing. 3 In render view port settings you should change from Agx to Filmic and change noe to very high contrast.
I guess it depends on what you need them for, but there are probably some pretty cheap models of nice looking socks online. Otherwise, I might start with a reference image or foot shape and play with some simple shapes and subdivision. Then a really nice image texture
@@DerekElliott Thanks for your reply! I need the model for creating mockups of different designs for socks. Unfortunately all models I found online are rather crappy and in detail don't really reflect how an actual sock would look like. But maybe I was on the wrong platforms. Do you have some good suggestions where to get good models? Price isn't that much of a problem, I mean it shouldn't be too expensive over the top, but I wouldn't cheap out if I could get a really good model.
Hey, your videos are amazing! May I ask if you've had any formal education or studied something, or have you taught yourself everything? I'm very interested in structured education in the field of product modeling... can you recommend anything?
I studied industrial design at a university which was helpful to learn basic design principles and stuff but all my blender knowledge is self taught and I did not learn any of that in school
@@DerekElliott Wow, okay, there's really a lot here on RUclips, but the quality of your projects is truly exceptional! If you ever release a course, I'll be the first one to buy it. Thank you for your knowledge; I greatly appreciate it.
I am trying to export one perfume bottle which I practice but when rendering the image, the text is not visible. I want the image along with text or logo to be appear, any help?
7:50 - What bugs me here is that you don't explain WHY that color ramp affects the colors of the texture map. Do you have another tutorial that explains it in more detail?
It's referencing black and white values from 0 to 1. So if your red stop is all the way to the right then only things in your reference texture that are perfectly white will appear red. If you have to move the stop to 50%, then that probably means it's more of a gray in your texture. Nothing wrong with this. That's what the color ramp is good for
@@DerekElliott Wow. I didn't expect that you would reply back at me. Thank you, sir. You're absolutely right. My Photoshop has started the new document with a 15% grey background. So after I removed the background and added a new white one. it worked perfectly.
Bro i hope you know that majority of your viewers are just beginners, so why dont you go ahead and explain how to shape the model, instead of using a time lapse........
Interface and learning curve in Blender is absolutely horrible, I use Modo, but Blender is impressive, however not for me. It takes ages to find tools, functions, and hundreds od useless and unworkable moves to achieve a simple tool set. Shortcut don't work correctly and using stylus is impossible with Blender. Sorry. I go to Plasticity.
This tutorial is like a 1 in a million. You even answered my future questions
