I like them because they have a hard sound, but the lyrics aren't agnry.
Amen; I'm so relieved to actually hear a rock band, with a consistently-uplifting message. But the best part for me, is they're not afraid to be bold with their faith in Jesus. They don't "preach to the choir" by always shoving it in front, but they never try to hide it either.

Pay closer attention; John often talks about Jesus at their shows and in interviews. Many of their songs have lyrics purposely designed for double meanings, while others are more obvious. For example, "The Last Night" was inspired by a friend of John's who was suicidal; he wrote it to stress God's love for the wounded.
Bro, if the world loves the music that does NOT convict them then my friend their music is NOT a witness for the Kingdom of God.

Skillet may have started back in the day as a christian band but have long strayed away from their message the gospel of Jesus Christ.

God created music, so the message is what's important - not the style. There's Christian bands that do everything from hymns to rap, hip-hop and grunge. God can use any of those for His glory, whether its our preference or not.

they would have been just as big as they are now without the so called "god" on their side, people love them because of their talents and amazing musical works, that they alone took years of practice and dedication to master on their own, I understand that they are a christian band so they give all the credit to the so called "god", but really, all the credit goes to the band themselves and not to anyone or anything.

Well, they are. John co-founded the band in 1996, and they spent about ten years building a following. But when the Comatose album hit in 2006, it really put them on the map big-time. That release and its follow-up, Awake, have both reached Platinum status; 2013's album Rise had sold 345,000 copies as of July 2015.
