  • We capture these magnificent machines hard at work at Hoboken and Secaucus. Those 645 EMD prime movers sound fabulous and at times overwhelming!! We capture a great cross section of power including the CNJ Heritage locomotive #4109 several times in addition to the NJDOT Heritage locomotive #4101. When these are retired, I am sure I am going to flood the metro area with tears. We close the video with a musical tribute to these “Classical Locomotives”

    Took my little man to Hoboken today. Since his school had an early dismissal, decided to take him out to watch trains.
    A big shout out to the NJ Transit conductors and engineers who showed my son around several locomotives and cab cars. He loved seeing the F40's, GP-40PH's and arrows.
    After a quick trip on PATH to 33rd Street, had a good lunch at the White Castle on 8th Ave and an express NJ Transit ride back from Penn Station to Trenton

    Hearing that CNJ 4109 rev up from an idle stop sends chills up my spine. Love that sound!!

    Hoboken is a train geek's (like myself) candy store and it's also high on my list for when I move back to NY/NJ.

    I think I may have filled you in before on 4210s backstory that was one of the three locomotives that made a run for it onto the S. East Expressway in Boston in 1969. The other two were a couple of GE U-boats.

    Stumbled across your videos the other day and have been watching the ones around the Philadelphia area as I use to live there and use to ride some of those trains back in the 60's. Had an uncle who was a Reading Railroad switcher engineer who worked out of the old Reading yards.
    ??Wondered if you are actually an "old" retired railroad guy as you seem to have a ton of knowledge about the various lines you ride?? Best regards.

    shame that 4101 no longer has its SU3L, the employee that installed it was arrested for stealing train horns from CSX and NS and has been suspended from NJT from what I've heard.

    NJ Transit really is a rolling railroad museum at present. It's too bad back in the late 90's LIRR didn't equip the GP-38's with HEP and just get new coaches. They'd probably still be running today. Gotta love the old EMD's.

    • @ProfessorPancakes420
      @ProfessorPancakes420 Год назад

      Is any commuter railroad in the NEC or Chicago not also a rolling railroad museum? Excluding those under the MTA banner.

    I can't wait until they have more direct service from Penn station to points north one day because transferring is annoying especially if your going to see a concert or football game at MetLife Stadium

    I've always been curious, why can't the GP40's and F40's accommodate the multilevel car sets? Especially since the F40's can accommodate the multilevel car sets on MBTA. Despite this, I love how all the good stuff is in this video!

    • @3985uprr

      Their hep generators don’t have enough power to work with the bilevels. Only the modern locomotives can put out the power that those cars need.
