Hey Lucy. Im sure you've read a million of comments like this before but i just wanna tahank you for doing these videos. You have no idea how grateful i am to have someone like you to watch and learn so much from to prepare for a future career in cruises. So thank you and i hope you will keep it up because it is soo useful ❤
So glad I came across your channel. For people wanting to join the cruise you provide with the best information .Could you do a video on how to apply for freshers.
Dear Lucy thanks for another interesting video. I would really appreciate if you make a videos for a new joiner embarkation date(detailed) as well. So to kbow what to expect.
I agree with everything, except in my experience it's the younger crew who have less of an open mind. Not all of them but some of them have the attitude of "I'm the best, I know what's best " type of thinking which gets them into trouble. The older ones have been around the block so many times things are just instinct at that point. It comes across as an I don't care attitude but it's more of a deal with it as it comes mentality. With the older ones if it is an attitude of jaded I think it's more they feel threatened by a younger person that understands things and how they're done really well. Personally I don't. If I have to train someone or help them out and they become better at their job or a better human being I take that as a success I was able to help someone. Different strokes for different folks though.
One of my favorite things about a cruise is all the different nationalities on board! I once went in a cruise with my friend and her parents! Our one waiter spoke Russian and was so excited when her parents spoke back in Russian. (I could imagine there’s not many Russian-speaking guest coming out of Miami)
I speak Portuguese and I made a Baltic itinerary. Now I want to learn German to came back to the Baltic. About conversations, you cannot hold conversation with guest while working in restaurante department, you have to caiter to all their needs and be friendly, but a waiter, assistant waiter and buffet attendants greatest function is to bring food fast to the table, while keep everything clean, if some guests are need help in a restaurant, we have to find a way of satisfying them without let them hold conversations. I don't know how things are in other departments, with crew have time to chat with passengers.
You are absolutely correct. One of my best friends on the ship is a food and beverage supervisor and its most important to bring hot food fast and to clear the table. Its best if there is a lull that the waiter etc chats a little rather than when they are busy and the guest wants to chat.
Hey I just found your channel and I love it!!! I’ve been thinking about applying so all your videos are so helpful! Is there a video you could do like general tips for someone’s first contact ? 💖💖
Hi Lucy! What's the best way to get a job on Virgin Cruises? Directly or through an agency? I live in Portugal, speak 3 languages and I have never worked on a cruise ship (but I have traveled in more than 10 cruises)
Please don't think that I am weird but on my last cruise a person passed away in the cabin next to me. When to they the remove the body and where to they store and when is the body removed the ship? Can you do a video and shed some light on this topic. Thanks.
There is a morgue on every ship holding up to 4 bodies. The bodies are removed at the next port of call. On some long cruises there are multiple deaths because the guests are more elderly. One 28 day cruise, 6 people passed away. The remaining guest has the option to continue the voyage or get off with the body.
Hello there! Can you provide an insight on opportunity for marine engineers from cargo ships willing to join cruise? Especially third engineer! Thanks!

Have you heard the good news about virgin Voyages?
There are lots of people who go on cruises in the winter. They just go to tropical areas or the southern hemisphere where it is summer when we have winter.
Maritime command is very competitive. It takes around 15 years to become a captain. Some hire on as cadets or as a third officer or even second officer. Some never make it to a captain and staff out as a staff captain or safety officer or even first officer.
@@sashaisaloneagain Not every ship's navigation officers even wants to be a captain. They make the most money but they are responsible for the crew, passengers, ship, and the cruise they are on. At sea, the captain's word is law. Their authority transcends even that of the ship's owners.

AM RICHARD FROM KENYA CAN I APPLY FOR AN ORDINARY SEAMAN?
Hi, I’m wondering if on the majority of ships there are areas that crew have access to with free wifi?
No. As a crew member, you will have to pay for wifi. There are only a handful of ships that offer free wifi to the crew.
When you are at port use the free wifi from Starbucks, McDonald's, or free wifi in the tourist areas.
@@burningblue1254 ok, yes it’s what I thought too. Did you check out my RUclips channel ?

@@burningblue1254 you search Louis Bérubé Piano and you’ll find me there.
