My two biggest perks were choice of cruise and choice of shore excursion.escort jobs I worked my way up to world and exotic cruises and the longest most expensive tours which I usually had as much preference as shore excursion staff or videographer. I only worked sea days so unless there was a crew drill on a port day I was OK
@@CruisingAsCrew I escorted tours for Princess RCCL Celebrity Holland America Cunard and NCL about 850 tours. Depending on the job, you can get extra time off at port. One of the best jobs to see the world is working in the gift shops as whenever the ship is in port then the shops are closed. So on a 14 day Mediterranean Cruise you most likely are in port 12 days. So you would only work 2 full Sea days (8am-11pm, There is 2 shifts.. so you would work one half). However on some of those sailings the ship would depart around 6pm so there for the shops would be open from about 6:30pm to 11pm. Also the casinos are closed. On port days a lot of people are off the ship so galley staff etc. can run reduced crew requirements.
Hey! LOVE your channel. I recently interviewed for a job with Harding retail but was told that we may not be allowed off the ship to explore when we port because of covid 😩😩that was one of my main reason for joining. Do you think it might change?
Hey babe. I think it will change, in time. If this was your main reason for wanting to work on ships I would maybe wait a while for Covid to calm down.
Edgardo any talk of bringing the crews back on Meraviglia or Armonia soon? I suspect those ships will soon embark out of Mexico, Nassau, or Caribbean. Share please what you have seen or heard?
There is a security officer who is usually part of the deck department. Under him or her are security supervisors and security guards that are responsible for ship security both passenger and crew. If its minor, the crew member is dealt with by their supervisor. If its more serious, the security officer will deal with it. The offences you mentioned are enough for immediate dismissal. Some will be dealt with by the authorities in whatever territorial waters the ship is in.
The basic salary on MSC for shoppies was 789$ or 800$ as one of their shoreside employees was saying. With commission, it depends. Might be 1000$ per month, might go over 2000$, most of the times it's in between this range.
@@tonchie23 EFFY is a great place to make money and so are the art auctions. A buddy of mine makes $100k a year as an auction manager. People buy $30k of art on the ship sometimes. EFFY has a draw almost every day and give away a few inexpensive trinkets but the women flock to these things.
This does not relate at all to any of the crew that actually work for a cruise line. You won't get extra time off no matter what if you work directly for a cruise line. A day and a half off? You can only dream of it...

I see Virgin is mandating the vaccine for crew. I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts on this. Mine hasn't yet.
All the lines are doing that. You need positive vaccine paperwork or you can't get on board the ship.
I won't be cruising then. To each his own but as for me, I will not be taking any vaccine
so what will happen with guys like me where the only reward i like is money. i don't see extra hours as a reward. i prefer money
Well I do want you to make an interview with a captain sorry if I seem persistent I'm just very interested
Hey, I am working on it 😘
@@CruisingAsCrew thank you so much
would you say you get a better contract going through harding as a british company? like more time off that for jobs directly through the cruise line?
Hi, is food in crew mess healthy? Thank you!
I'm going to work on MSC Cruise and I feel worry if I don't get another contract because I will lose a great job in my country.

is there someone whose job it is to enforce discipline among crew ?( ex. fights among crew members, drugs, sexual harassment)

It's okay, try other cruises🙂

If you can, work in the high end jewellery stores. Some guests by 25k rings, necklaces etc.

@@ovoono3050 You are correct! But they have more downtime than other crew. Same with casino.
Art auctions on many ship are run by ParkWest.

do all crew members have a role to play if there's an emergency? - do they get enough training ?

Yes they do and there are continual drills even during a cruise. Safety is paramount.
