Wynfield gave Gibson motorsport a huge amount of cash leading up to the ban on cigarette sponsorship. And that money was spent on highly modifying those GTR’s to a point that Nissan wouldn’t allow them to compete in Japan against the factory cars. No car could beat them even other GTR’s and it just about killed motor racing here in Australia. The Group A rules gave an unfair advantage to turbo cars which were predominantly sports cars against family saloons that were designed not in motorsport in mind. It wasn’t what you would call fair game.
@@tomnewham1269 The Sierra RS500s used in ATCC were in fact granted and built with Group A homologation rules in mind, so does with the Skylines (GT-R models). It is worth mentioning, the Sierras have won both 1988 DTM and 1990 BTCC series, respectively, once, while grabbed back to back championship win at 1988 and 1989 JTCC. And yes, it was fair game because they were hailing from the same regulation group, which was Group A, while raced in series that was using Group A formula.

When Ford Sierra cheated for years by having much more power than any other race cars, they had bunch of Sierra in the track and they won by laps, then they would say what the great powerful cars, what a great innovation technology and what the great drivers. When Nissan GTR had great cars, great innovation technology and great drivers, they called it cheating. Then they complained and forced GTR to carry heavy extra load in 1992 in the race and they still lost to the GTR and they banned GTR forever until their cars had same spec as GTR in 2015. Then they allowed GTR to race and they still lost. Why? I like to know why they discriminated Japanese car company and Japanese people so much even till these days. I also notice some other sport during this 90's era, American and mostly caucasian with white skin athletes always complaint at everything when they lost. Most of the time, they get lots of privileges and got what they wanted to change rules in favor toward them. If that happened in reverse, they would call Asian athletes and Asian technology and Asian athletes cheaters, why?

What a wild podium

Since when is a Ford Sierra a bogan mobile?
