I appreciate this, I'm a 14 yr girl, self-taught. I do feel like you over detailed the hair though, and try to make the nose just a smidge bigger. You don't have to listen to me, these are just suggestions for the future. (No hate though, I love your art!

Very nicely done! However, as a layman I would say the real girl has a pointier chin, and the eyes on the painting seem odd. If you draw a line between the pupils, then I don't think it'd be perpendicular to the nose. It seems either the right eye needs to move up a bit, or the left eye a bit lower.. Amazing techniques though!

It looks a lot like a modified version of the soft brush in the Airbrush category

This was very informative and detailed. Thank you for taking the time to go through this. I've been working with procreate for about 6 months now and thought I knew everything I needed to know. But you offered some really great tips that I can't wait to try for myself! I definitely need to start getting organized with flesh tone pallets too. The painting in grays/values method is still very new to me, but you gave a great demo and I feel much more confident about trying it again. I'd feel honored if you stopped by my channel sometime! I have always had a gift in portrait sketches, however over the years I find that, though a bit counter-intuitive, is to start with eyes, then nose, then lips. Starting with the face give you more control of the overall sketch but starting with the eyes makes the best proportion of the face. This portrait is amazing but I just think maybe the forehead can be a bit more narrow and longer, whereas the chin can be a bit thinner. Keep it up! Thanks for the tutotiral.

Which blending/smudging brush do you use? is it in the standard set that comes with procreate? or is it a set we can get online somewhere?
esther kim oh I just use the standard blending brush. I seldom use it. If u pick tones next to each other and paint them next to each other gradually there usually isn’t a need to blend much. But there’s procreate brushes out there for download as well.

Hi I am curios, if do you use several layers for your portraits? Or just one layer... for the grayscale then a layer for the final touches using specific colors from your reference? Thank you...

Hi! This is super late but I do b&w first as it is a lot easier shading in grayscale first and then just plopping the colors on top of it? If that makes sense

u use saturate tool and choose brush size and shape you like
Great! Can you give advice in one problem in procreate? There is some issue like gradient steps when I draw by airbrush or draw by basic brush two or more colors and smear them with each other. Especially it’s obviously with dark color.
I find it incredible that there are no guidelines or anything. That you can just start drawing the face and it looks like the reference image. I have never seen that before. Wow. Your videos are informative
At 11:54 you color the hair and with my brush the colour just bilds up so it looks patchy if that makes sense and the selection tool doesn't select as it should because of that:( how do you fix thattt?
I think it’s the brush you use. I just use the default painting brush. If ur using the same brush and have issues maybe just reset the brush.

Great tutorial. I might try this technique. But I did want to point out some small mishaps. Please don't accept this being offensive. ⁰ I'm not try sure if you are trying to recreate the drawing (by sketch) completely or just doing a quick sketch for the tutorial. I wanted to point out your alignment of the eye, one is higher than the other. I use to do this mistake all the time if I haven't evaluated my sketch before pressing on. Two, because the alignment don't add up. In the portrait it looks like her head tilt is a little downward and yours is more upward, it's very subtle. Other than that, awesome job.
had to dig to find the answer but yes its another IPAD pro video it seems to me you can't draw this on an ipad 6th-8th gen or even and air it has to be ipad pro. i've yet to see anyone draw these types of drawings on it.

Ardi Rozaudi u can take a screenshot of my palette n paste it in ur procreate to pick the colors out. Or use other images to pick colors to create your own palette

Very nice, but.... the eye on the left (for us )you need to lower it even lower. And the forehead is not so round on the left actually - and it should be higher
Thank you for sharing you process, it's very helpful. I can see that the final result doesn't look like the reference. They look like 2 different girls to me. I have the same problem sometimes, because even a little mistake win proportion make look completely different. I can avoid it only with tracing down the picture. Any other advice? Do you think I should avoid tracing in photorealistic portrait?
