Only after burying our beautiful daughter 2 days ago 33 yrs old,she played this song on her travels to Vincent's hospital fr treatment, left behind broken hearted mother father 2 brothers a little 3 year old,,,liver cancer.,this song guts us all here listening to it,beautiful song.
💚🙏🇮🇪 someday you'll be reunited with god life is just a journey Sure she's watching down and wanting you to be happy everyday until you meet again Gbless🙏
I'm drunk, so I need to get this off my chest, I heard I was gonna be a dad for the first time while listening to this song in a Killarney traditional Irish pub, sadly we lost the baby but I end up here every time I'm drunk, I've since been blessed with 3 beautiful children and I know I'm so lucky ! But it still kills me, first time commenting, ignore me
Yeah you got to know tragedy early but credit to you both you never gave up, know Blessed with three beautiful children, hope your all in good health n enjoying life, I'm just a bloke, listening to our Mary. Happy life, little Angel in Heaven n I'm a family guy no religion.
Dear Marion, I am very sorry for the loss of your husband. I lost one brother the same way. Our loved ones are always with us in our hearts. Stay healthy. Achim from Zurich
My brother died 7 years. This was his favourite song, not so much mine because I was fed up of him singing it day in day out. Caledonia was played at his funeral and everytime i heard it since he died it made me burst into tears. I just couldn't listen to it :( So many times I got up and walked out of a room if it came on and 7 years of family gatherings without him, someone/everyone got up and sang his favourite song. A few weeks ago it came on the radio while i was driving and I didn't cry. I guess that means after 7 years I'm after coming to terms with the loss of my brother. Let me tell you that I love you and I think about you all the time ❤
My mother sang this at my Grandmothers funeral, every time I hear this gorgeous track I immediately think about my beautiful grandmother and I love her so much ❤
When my daughter aged 29 took her own life in 1993, I was devastated as anyone can imagine. But, immediately after her passing, a song came into my mind which wouldn't go away and it was .. 'Caledonia. ' I didn't want a song in my head, but it wouldn't stop and at that time I had no idea that my daughter was communicating with me from spirit. The piece that came to me was just the chorus - 'Let me tell you that I love you and think about you all the time....' (I often say to folks now that when anyone passes into the spirit world, they go home....) Now, I am aware that spirit communicates with me by songs. Music is definitely food for the soul .
Love this song & Dolores Keane sings it so beautifully, I played it for my dad on my phone when he was in a nursing home (with cancer & early dementia), he loved it too as the words had a deep meaning of how he felt...'if I should become a stranger...' he passed about a week later 2yrs last Mar RIP Dad 💙 xxx
My 7 year old daughters name is Kala and she lives a hundred miles from me, i think about her all the time, my version is called Kaladonia. This amazing song took ten minutes to write. Well done Dougie Mc and to the voice behind this beautiful cover. Wow
This song makes me so sad after loosing the most beautiful lady I really loved.i miss her every day and I will never forget her and her beautiful smile.xxxx😢😢
Many of us can relate to the this special song Delores adds so much since ive heard her sing it in my eyes its her take on living life and getting through it Its not a song any more its an Anthem to surviving our ghosts Thank you Delores for your version
My mom sadly passed away in September she always played this as we drove from tralee back to dingle and now she rests fully in dingle over looking the west coast love u mom and this song and everyone that can relate to it ❤️❤️
This song is so brilliant because it’s universal. It captures the longing we all have for a place we call home, wherever we’re from. There’s nothing chauvinistic about it - a national song that is international in sentiment - we all have our own personal Caledonia.
My wife sang this song at her father's funeral he was out having a laugh and few pints Guinness in our country Irish he fell into shannon off a bridge pure freck Accident he died b4 he hit water my sang this Trimbleing that awful day in church and instead of people crying they stood up sang it with her I held her shaking hand body everything it was like a 100 Angles came from heaven and sang this amazing song his favourite song the church was shaking with pure love iv never experienced god love like that it changed us for life this song RIP FATHER
Obviously I'm expressing my own opinion but it's ironic that the best version of a Scottish song is by an Irish singer. There are many very good versions of this song but I rate this one as the best.
Dougie Maclean. Best version. Dolores Keane is wonderful, and this is a lovely version of the song. But nothing can match Dougie Maclean's deep feeling.
The great Dolores was the one who brought this brilliant Sottish song to prominence. We Irish seem to have great PROes, and I have no wish to denigrate our lovely music, but there is great Scots, and English, music, and we all know what great singers the Welsh are. When I was trying to teach music to youngsters I used to tell them to try everything from Traditional to Classical, and not get bogged down in one genre.. There is some great Pop music out there also.☺☺☺☺☺☺
God bless mighty Scotland, from an Irishman. People you guys should of takin your chance to go it alone, we had to fight and still are for Irish freedom..,,
What a song this!Beautiful well done the Scots again......We Irish seem to have an extraordinary love for your music....but sure thats not a bad thing....
I sang this song to my Labrador Monty before he passed away. Let me tell you that I love you and I think about you all the time, It's heartbreaking now he's gone
Tonight I lost 1 of my best friends I came home from Australia in 07 and she heard dis on a cd I had an she loved it we always use to play dis over and over, Fly high now hun I'll never forget u biddy xxx.
There is beautiful place for us all beyond this fallen realm, our real home! For Jesus says, I go now and prepare a place for you, according to your fruits, the good deeds you've all bore, they are all written in your book of Life. Be of Good cheer this is not where it all ends, but just a beginning for our young souls. Shalom
I think everyone has their own version they like of this song and everyone can relate to caledonia as home even if it's not Caledonia. Wicklow Lassie here!
i lost my son many years ago as my then wife kidnapped him and took him to canada. i never saw him again but God has lifted me up and i know i will see him on the far banks of the river jordan! His peace to all
Dolores is the kind it takes time to come to love and then you fall in love and her versions of oft-recorded songs are always best. 'The wind that shakes the barley,' for example. Of course 'You'll never be the sun' is in the pantheon of songs.
I love this song really makes you think about not just where you come from but other places you've been to and fell in love with and had to leave all the places you'll miss the most
Caledonia was 1 of my mother's funeral songs n it brought so much comfort 2 all her children n grandchildren n place in my heart also by Delores was played 4 my father she gave us such peace in her songs although it was 17yrs ago I still listen 2 her lyrics n it gives me so much comfort
