everytime i use squid it gets devoured by crabs im new to surf fishing and saltwater in general im good at freshwater. Any suggestions? ive used the hi lo rig and the fire ball rig but still get attacked by crabs? Should i jerk it or let it sit for less periods of time? im so confused lol
If you're getting crabbed hard, you can try moving your hooks a little further up the line on your hi-lo to keep your bait up off bottom more. Usually, if the fish are really biting, I usually just hold the rod and wait for a bite. If I don't get one in a couple minutes, I reel in like 10 ft. or so and hold again. Sometimes they like it when you just cast out, let it sit for a minute, then just retrieve it back very slowly feeling for bites. No matter what technique you use, I highly recommend using braid for your main line so you can feel every little bump.
The shore fishing for them is tricky from what I've seen, you have to hit it just right. But, there are also several party boats you can jump on in the area for $75 a trip or so that will take you Porgy fishing. On the boat you will have more consistent action. I fished on the "Neat Lady" party boat and did well.
I don’t understand, I see people asking for the location on comments and they don’t share that info. Lots of fisherman’s are selfish. Guys there’s enough fish for everyone. People being fishing for thousands of years and still plenty of fish in the waters 😂
I'm not that selfish, if I knew you personally, I would be happy to take you fishing at this spot. On social media though it's generally considered bad form to ask for specific spots and to share them.
Love the friendly competition. I do similar fishing in Connecticut so I enjoyed. Subscribed
