Malden Police Commissioner Salvatore “Butch” Gennetti Funeral Services

Today members of the Malden Police Department paid their final respects to Police Commissioner Salvatore “ Butch “ Gennetti.
Officers stood shoulder to shoulder during his funeral services offering a final salute to our commissioner. We are especially grateful to all whom attended including members of our community who were on hand to remember and honor the lifelong public servant.
May he rest in eternal peace. You will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the men and women of the Malden Police Department we offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of MPD Commissioner Salvatore “Butch” Gennetti who served as Commissioner from 2010-2024. He passed away peacefully yesterday June 28th, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Commissioner Gennetti has been a pillar of our department and our city for over six decades, serving with distinction, honor, and unwavering commitment. For the past 14 years, he led our police force with vision and integrity, always striving to enhance our service and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
His contributions to our department and the broader community are immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all. Commissioner Gennetti was not only a leader but also a mentor, a colleague, and a friend to many.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Further details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available.
