I always salute the dispatcher that reads the last call, and is able to keep it together while on the air. Nobody thinks about them, but they hurt as well.
I couldn't do it, I would break down!

One of our assignments as MCSO Officers was to complete an 8 hour tour in the emergency dispatch center to witness the various radio calls. A Deputy Sheriff made a distress call in which every thing stopped and the call supervisor assisted the lady taking that call. It was a very uneasy time as the dispatcher ordered all officers in the area to respond to assist the deputy. The deputy was shot but survived his injuries. Our fellow officers used the injured officer's handcuffs to place the shooter under arrest and take him to jail!!! You could hear a pin drop other than the single dispatcher and her supervisor helping her!! I served in both the military and police they are very similar!!!

There is a command that can be given by a handler that will cause the K-9 to bark. I will not reveal it here, but I've seen Police K-9's all start barking when a murdered police officer or Police K-9's body goes by. It rips your heart out.

Because the initial officers suspected this creep had drugs, it seems they knew who he was and that he was a convicted violent felon. If so, he should’ve been searched and placed in handcuffs immediately. Many violent felons who had long term, even life sentences are being released because of law changes. Because they’re older and finally got out of prison, they will do any and everything to keep from going back, making them extremely dangerous.
