Don't forget to complete the census for your UNI ADDRESS, even if you’re at home right now - just go to census.gov.uk/students
Census day might have passed, but it's still not too late to fill yours out if you haven't already!!
As always, let me know if you have any comments in the section below!

Oxford maths student here! Also important to note, there is a big expectation that you'll do quite a lot of work over the vacs (holidays) in order to keep up with the pace and intensity of the work, which means that often you don't get everything fully done during term. I didn't realize just how big of a deal this would be before I applied. As someone from a working class, complicated family background I found it really hard to fit in studying so much over the holidays, which lead to me feeling quite behind a lot of the time (which wasn't something a lot of my friends at other unis experienced). That being said, my oxford friends with more comfortable home lives didn't necessarily struggle with this like I did - so definitely something to consider when applying based on your home life!
Thanks Codie! This is a really important one and I'm grateful that you've shared it on here!
Oh nice, I'll be matriculating this year to do maths at oxford.
I agree! I probably do just as much if not more work in the Vac - it's tough if there's lots going on at home and often people back home don't realise that you're not on 'holiday' ahaha
do u mean because you had to work?
@@hemikiwi817 potentially, but even without having to do a ‘job’ there’s a hell of a lot u need to do in terms of uni work over the vacs - particularly bc you’ll typically have exams at the week before the start of every new term on last terms content so need to revise for them
I remember arriving at Oxford in 2017 and seeing you queuing for Bridge ....literally felt like I had laid eyes on a celebrity! Your vids were so invaluable for helping calm my nerves about coming - access king!
❤❤❤ Bridge was an institution haha
This is a really great video! It came just at the right time cause I'm thinking of applying to Oxford. To get a perspective from a student rather than a college is so helpful. Thank you for the video :D
I'm glad you found it useful!!
Hello brother i am from India i want to tell you something.
Mani, this is such an insightful video, thank you so much for sharing!! Your drive and passion shine through so much, absolutely loved this!!
Regarding cost, Oxford is ridiculously inexpensive compared to equivalent universities in the U.S. Oxford $US 11,000; Harvard/Yale $75-78,000 per year!
That’s the cost for UK home students, the international student course fees at Oxford are around £35,000/$50,000 a year which is such a big spike! However it is still comparatively better than the US Ivies you mentioned
@@alexachew3348yeah... My mother is doing Finance and FinTech and honestly I think that this phenomenal gap between fees for Home VS International students is quite unfair. We already have to deal with being in a new country and visa fees and what not.
Thank you for this! I’m a first year chemist and whenever people find out I go to Oxford they make it sound like this perfect experience. Every university has its pros and cons, including oxford!
prospective chem student - any advice?
@@nikolashadjipaschalis5629 Chemistry is great but it is a challenge - the workload is crazy and varies massively from college to college. If you love chemistry go for it, but be prepared!! If you have any more specific questions lmk!
@@Wiggyfoo Well if all goes well, I have an offer from Balliol, how long are labs and what are the practicals like - are they hardest part of the course?
Edit: sorry just 1 more thing, I gather it's one of the tougher courses so between colleges do chem students ever synergise with work if you don't nderstand something or is it truly everyone for themselves sink or float ?
@@nikolashadjipaschalis5629 in terms of labs, we’ve only had 3 in person due to Covid, and personally I really enjoy them and would say they’re one of the easier parts of the course. Again, because of Covid, it’s been difficult to meet people from other colleges, but we do work together when need be!
@@Wiggyfoo Thank you for your responses and best of luck in the future
I am a Chinese senior high student studying Cambridge International AS and A Level and I will go to UK for university later on. This video showed the benefits and drawbacks of Oxford from your perspective. Thanks for sharing!
Did you apply this year? How did it go?
A well rounded and very thoughtful video.
I would add to that that if you need to drop out due to ill health, having grades only in the final year puts you at a massive disadvantage. If or when you are back on your feet and transfer to another university, though Oxford has the kudos, there's very little for the new university to use to assess you or say "you did so well you can skip x years".
I love you have a very mature, focussed yet realistic take on things. Please do more videos if you can.
Good to see you back Mani!!!
Thank you!! x
Rather interesting hearing a student perspective as a resident of oxford and someone thinking of applying, great video, one thing I’d say is make sure you go to as many Oxford Games as you can! COYY
Hi there! Thanks for the great vid, very insightful. I was admitted to Oxford couple of weeks ago for my postgrad, and I was really suprised to hear you say that the financial support is so abundant (I actually heard the opposite). As someone European struggling to get the money together (yeey Brexit!), I was wondering at what point do you apply for the Oxford support you mentioned, or is this part of the scholarships you are automatically considered for? As I dont know my college yet, I also have no idea how to apply for that kind of support.
about to start trinity term as a fresher. covid has surely made things interesting, but so far i'm happy to be apart of the oxford community and getting use to the new culture and traditions it was a bit hectic at first but once i started letting loose it was fun!
Watching this video past (maybe?) COVID - I hope you had a great experience so far and that you are happy! ❤
I would love to hear your views on the Rashmi Samant Oxford bullying issue! Let us know what you think...
Hi Mani, absolutely love all of your videos! I’m thinking of applying to Univ for History and would love to know what you thought of the college. I’m also thinking of New College and St Catz. I definitely want to do rowing and apply to a big college - are there any other colleges you really liked when you were there? Thank u so much! xxx
Hey man! Ox alumni class of 2010 - gosh I sound like an old man already 😭. Studied Econ at Magdalen. Worked at GS for 3 years and then on a few startups before deciding to start my own 2 years back and enjoying the journey thus far! Stumbled across you video and it made me miss and reminisce the amazing time I had at Ox especially with my ISOC pals! Good old days bro! Keep it up and God willing you have an exit strategy in place because boy I tell Goldmansachs killed me when I was there albeit I did enjoy the 15+ hour daily shifts and was endeavouring to stay on for at least a decade straight outa school; but unfortunately my health took a turn for the worse (I have Crohn’s and colitis) and , alas, decided to leave and so grateful I joined some amazing fintech start ups in my home town here in london who were really flexible to accommodate me and my medical needs. Anyways , enough with my anecdotes already lol. Liked and subscribed bro! Inshallah will be interesting to see where your journey takes you! Bless!
I have applied to London unis for econ and plan to do an internship with GS eventually, but I was diagnosed with colitis 2 months ago, would you say working with a big IBank can get very hectic with UC?
Thank you so much for this wonderful insight to Oxford University Mani , my son was watching your RUclips blog on Monday evening & on Tuesday Morning he had found that he was offered a place at the The Queens Collage to study Modern
Languages. 😊
Oxford and Cambridge are intense. If you fancy a less stressful education at a university voted best in the UK for student life, then I would recommend the University of Leeds.
Ah that’s comforting to hear. I’m thinking of studying Law with French Law there 😊
@@benedictcucumberbitch9352 That's a great course. I was considering studying Law, but I thought that I could get where I wanted with a law career after first doing a subject that I was more into at undergrad
I wanted to do 'Philosophy and Physics' at Oxford. I instead did Physics at Birmingham, and Philosophy at Leeds. Also attended Imperial for a year in between. Can confirm that Leeds is the best for studying, partying and girls.
@@horse69outside Like your priorities 🤣
@@horse69outsideyo can I ask you some questions cuz I'm hoping to apply to Birmingham and Imperial
1. How is the city of Birmingham? Is it safe
2. How did u deal with the high cost of living - especially accomodation - in london
Thank you this wonderful insight to Oxford University Mani , my son was watching your youtube blog on Monday evening, and come Tuesday morning he got the email to confirm that he has been given an offer at the Queens Collage to study Modern Languages. 😊
I’m considering applying to Oxbridge and this video was really informative and well made :)
Loved this video :)
Literally just confirmed my offer! This was brilliant, thanks so so much :))
Congratulations!! ❤
@@ThisIsMani Thank you !!! You've been a massive inspiration for me :))
congratulations!! what course are you studying? xx
@@alishabilal5756 thank you and geography ! X
AHH OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!🎉🎉🎉
Excellent video Mani. How are you doing?
I'm getting anxious because I need to confirm my Cambridge offer but as soon as I do I feel like it will become too much of a reality. At the same time I feel like the longer I wait, the more chance there is it will suddenly disappear. Yes I'm irrational - I have no idea how I got into Cambridge.....
what college?
So helpful!
Hey, really interesting content I've seen so far! Do you have a linkedin?
Great review
For masters in English which is the best Oxford or Cambridge
this is a great video, very helpful
also, what are your views on the recent events that took place in Oxford regarding Rashmi Samant?
Sanghis ought to be ostracized.
Would you consider reacting to the series ‘industry’ as an investment banker? Love your personality and videos!
oxford or cambrigde for medicine?
Are you still using the Canon g7x Mark2?
hey Mani dont mind me asking but can you tell me what percentage you got in GCSEs and A levels would really help me to set my exoectations and i would work really hard towards that direction. I am currently in 8th (about to go in 9th after 1 month)
Love from India Mani ❤️
Did you end up having to do your Finals on-line ?
Hey mani could you please tell me how much you got for MAT?
St Catz or Kellogg for postgraduate studies? Thoughts?
Can I get into oxford for MS based on work experience?🤕
after a long time,my frd🙂
1.do you get all your stuff like fridge, micro, printers and other stuff from the college or by yourself?
2. How much it costs in oxford if you wanna come from India?
3. In which age should I join oxford?
4. How much marks should I get so that i can join oxford (in 10th and 12th)?
all the answers for these are on the oxford website!!
@@fattoumabenabdallah2917 can you tell me here if possible I am still confused! It will be helpful if you can tell!
1. All accommodations comes with the basic kitchen area with all the basic essentials like a fridge and microwave. No, I wouldn’t recommend bringing a printer, Your college will have them and they can be heavy, expensive and take up space.
2. On the Oxford website it says fees are between £27,840 and £39,010. Depending on your course you will need to factor in other costs but again like Mani mentioned in the video, Oxford has financial aid to help if needed.
3. You can apply as an undergraduate or a postgraduate. Postgraduates are 21+ I believe.
4. Each country has its own grading system and form of exams and education so please do look into what the requirements are for India.
How's mba finance in Oxford ?
i don't know if you'll read this but can you please tell about the computer science and philosophy course. i am thinking of taking perhaps if i get into oxford. does it have artificial intelligence ??
Really good take on imposter syndrome, eye-opening!
Sir i wanna enroll in Oxford Univeristy in law field is this university best for studying law ? Pleaze tell😊
I liked the video but the amount of adverts ruined it, I didn’t want to be disrupted 🤣
Why many people try to get into US universities whereas Oxford and Cambridge also have high rankings and their acceptance rate is much higher than US’s ones?
Oxford has both less applicants (roughly a 1/3rd of Harvard’s). So let’s say Harvard = 4%, Oxford = 12% initially. If the same amount applied for both, Oxford would also have 4%, but Oxford also admits 1000 more people than Harvard (roughly). Harvard = 2000. Oxford = 3000 (for ease of calculation). Oxford would then go up to 6%. This is very basically done, but it just shows Oxford acceptance rate is very heavily skewed by how little amount of people apply compared to Harvard.
did you do alevels.
Which A levels did you take ?
Proud of you as a young Sikh British man - you inspire me as an ethnic minority student to aspire to Oxford for my PhD. Proud of you.
I’m more of a tradesman king of guy. I wanna go into construction in the future.
Have you considered doing a civil engineering degree?
I’m from India , I’m in 11th grade , Sir when can I apply for Oxford university and how much will it cost ?
when you finish your a-level equivalent and it will cost around £21,000
How is the University for International Students? And is it safe for example, women?
It is very safe and walkable

Don't get the hype with Oxbridge. I got a first from Cambridge, but would have had way way more fun getting one at Manchester or similar, and actually would have partied more. The reality is the benefit vs work demands for jobs is neglible. It's 3 precious years of your life- why not enjoy it?
You must read in the vac. It’s the only way not to waste your three or four years.
I want your reply brother
I want to study mchem or mbiochem
Recommend me some tough , prestigious universities to crack
And their requirements I have to fulfil
I am at last year of my school (tamilnadu state board)
Which exams I want to prepare and crack
Your reply will really mean to me
Computer Science God....🤣🤣🤣
Your absence has been noted

These students are going to have a meltdown on July 4th when Starmer wins a landslide.
You can't get a job while you are a Oxford student?!
How is that a good thing?! I'm concerned
Oxford is an extremely diverse city, it's a student town 100%, if you are talking Oxford university as diverse, well duh it is extremely difficult to get in and very expensive, this sets alot of international and local students to branch to other universities. The thing is, this is Oxford Uni's key requirement, they want the best of the best to keep the rank high and private education always offers a better education but the con being private education is expensive and affordable by the elite.
But Oxford as a city? Maaaan, it is one of the most diverse. Just walk around Oxford and you will see so many diverse shops, restaurants and you'll hear a thousand accents and languages.
I actually went to Oxford a couple of years ago. I remember one summer night in second year, I was at a party and there was this girl there who was really, really drunk. At one point she let out the longest, loudest fart I've ever heard come out of a girl. It smelled so awful as well. It was shocking yet hilarious at the same time, definitely one of my funniest memories from university. Such good times.
Every female who attends Oxford eventually starts doing this in their second year.
Kindly watch on RUclips this video to know about creator of the entire universe-(The throne of Allah mind-blowing by merciful servant)
Unlike these students, I've done a lot of work today.
These smelly students need to get to work and quick. Those essays don't write themselves you know.
