Funny thing is that almost every toy iteration of Soundwave can do that in some way. I think it's almost as big a running gag as the many deaths (& revivals) of Optimus Prime.

I don't mind battle damage. It's just that it weirdly placed. At least on the Wave 1 Megs and Prime. Soundwave and Starscream has them on areas that make sense, you know what I mean?
It's because it clashes with the previous generations figures. It's also really easy to do battle damage custom work. It's only dry brushing silver paint onto textured surfaces. On the other hand, it's very time consuming to have to try and remove the battle damage, especially with the paint that is used by Hasbro.
I'm meh on it. It worked on Megatron for me but it doesn't work for Prime imo. I feel like they should have different weathering colors, like prime should have darker red war damage on the red bits and a darker blue on the blue. You know what mean?
So he does! I was using the post method on Megatron and it worked great so I didn't catch the divots on Soundwave. It seems like the feet *should* stick in, but on mine at least they like to keep popping back out, so the post is a more secure option.

The real shitty part is that they really didn’t do anything cool for Shockwave’s armored robot mode. Vehicle mode is cool, but they could’ve done so much with the armor. An Onyx Prime look, a homage to Energon Shockblast, a Prime appearance. Idk, anything that amounts to more than Doctor Shocktapus.
@peaugh I think the idea of the lamp mode came out from the Fall of Cybertron Game. If i remember correctly in the chapter 3 with Optimus Prime we can see Soundwave hiding in the city in kinda similar form
If comes from part 1 of the original cartoon pilot. It was titled "more than meets the eye". We see Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Soundwave, and Laserbeak in all of their pre-Earth alt-modes in the 1st third from that episode. I think we also see Jazz briefly as well but I am not sure.
Daaamn...those look amazing together (despite Starscream having the *WRONG* COLOR FACE AGAIN, it's supposed to be charcoal or gunmetal gray, not silver like Thundercracker & Skywarp)!! Yeah, they need to hurry up and get both Thundercracker & Skywarp made already. Maybe even have Ramjet, Thrust, & Dirge retools in part two or part three of this War for Cybertron Trilogy. We've needed proper Voyager class Seekers forever!! Speaking of which, I think that between the old Generations toylines for the original War for Cybertron & Fall of Cybertron (WFC Megs, WFC Soundwave, FoC Seekers, FoC Shocky), that was the ONLY other time in the modern era that we had all six of'em *in scale* with each other. (Masterpiece doesn't count due to Shockwave being way too short) Yes, the WFC/FoC peeps were all Deluxe class. But this...all Voyagers...this hits the sweet spot nicely...even though Megs kinda sucks (questionable design choices in robot mode, craptastic H-Tank for an alt mode).
The closest I can get to a cassette player mode that sits fine without removing his arms is rotating his arms 180, and fold them up at the elbow, then put his legs in a titans return base mode style and rotating them to the back. When you do so, you can fold the panels on his legs up to cover the gap between his arms and legs.
The goofy gun that extends Soundwaves blasters is very reminiscent of Megatron's gun Alt-mode. Anyone else see it? Kinda sad that you didn't make Soundwave hold it.
