The encounter rate in Yakuza 5 is like a clingy ex, always showing up at the worst possible times and refusing to take a hint.

This my friends, is why Yakuza 0 introduced the Cash Confetti.
Yakuza 5 truly walked (and in a few cases, fell on its face, which broke its skull, causing it to die a slow painful death) so Yakuza 0 could run.

Yakuza 5 encounter rate is pretty much like you're equipped with "Charismatic Photo" in any other Yakuza games. There'll be an instant of 3 ~ 4 possible random fights on the exact same junctions if you're unlucky enough (squatting "slavs", bumping into some thugs while walking, etc)

The most iconic voiceline is the one that sounds like singing, from the victory road and rich enemies.

my problem with Yakzua 5's encounters are that they're excessive until you want them. I was trying to do the victory road thing with Shinada and I just could not find any encounters for some reason
Same, the only time it doesn't happen is when you want it.
That's why tattered scarf and beads of good fortune are so cherished in Y5
I love Yakuza 5, but those encounter rates were wild. (Especially as Shinada in Kamurocho.)
Saejima's town is cursed. They really needed you to be able to walk on the main road but knowing this game every car that passes would be an encounter 😂
Seeing that one clip where the AI Kiryu just Komaki Parry or Tiger drop from a distance or from his back reminds me that one clip where Lee in Yakuza 0 can parry your golden rifle shot...

Devilleon7 editing has reached it's peak here. My favourite part was when you rolled over and bed and the sing started playing again when you saw yakuza 5. Closely followed by the yeh boi from Ainsley Harriet. That meme is golden

I remember getting the beads (even goro i think?) that stopped encounters. The only game i used them in was Yakuza 5 and i never took them off.

And while I’m thinking about it, I recently saw a video on a Yakuza 3 Multiplayer mod (still very early stage of development) and it suddenly hit me; why isn’t there a Coop mode that mimics arcade beat-‘em ups like Final Fight or Streets of Rage in any of these games?? Like they could repurpose all of the Long Battles and segment parts of each city as like standard “stages” where you fight enemies, pickup and use weapons/power ups, etc. and that would be so awesome to do in Coop

This, combined with Haruka's... everything caused me to start a mini-Joker arc. When I finally got to Yakuza 6, it felt like a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Like I was finally truly free.
Oh yeah, there were a lot of random encounters during that no upgrades run. That Kanai vs AI Kiryu part kind of made me wish there was a way to watch and create AI battles. They sort of did that in Yakuza 4, 6, and Kiwami 2, but eh it's not the same.

I love random encounters cause I am heat actions addict, but Tsukimino is just pain and suffer. Guy asks what is slower in yakuza; transition to mid battle text Lol
As much as I love Yakuza series I admit almost every installment have it's issue or flaw from various thing, like for example Yakuza mini games are fun and interesting but sometime you get screw by either RNG or weird control, the combat the game push you to fight with style but sometime the enemy hit feels like aimbot and have a perfect reflex to block or evade(tough that maybe because I suck at the game lol)

Yeah this encounters could be a little annoying. But when I played in this game I tryed to receive all skills and this encounters were a good opportunity to watched on new Heat Action

Someone gotta made a mod for replaying boss fights at will for, well any of the games. If they haven't already. I wonder about no damage players, do they reload a save and have to skip cutscenes or do a whole long battle for every attempt?
Encounter rate in Y5 makes me wanna commit unalive until I play as Shinada and "What a Funktastic Hit" plays every 30 seconds

Also Tsukimino and it's fight spawns can absolutely leave. We consider it the hardest chapter in any Yakuza run because of like 2 street corners where you can get up to SIX(!!!) encounters and as you said - they just never despawn. I *genuinely* think that Tsukimino in the Dragon Engine with the ability to run in the middle of the road on the top part of the map and less aggressive fight spawns would make this place managable and actually fun

I'm one of the y5 defenders its one of my favourites but it certainly has its issues
Yakuza 4 was definitely worse for grabs. If an enemy in 4 decided to use the grsb move, you literally could not dodge it because it locks you into an animation the moment the enemy goes for a grab
