Deep dive: Fomitopsis officinalis Agarikon

  • Our habitats provide us with innate immunity.
    .
As habitats are destroyed, zoonotic diseases can emanate from stressed ecosystems to us.
    .
For thousands of years ancient peoples from Europe to the Pacific Northwest have discovered that Agarikon (Fomitopsis officinalis aka Laricifomes officinalis) is an important ally in nature's pharmacopoeia. Growing almost exclusively in old growth forests, and one of the longest living mushrooms in the world (up to 100 years (?)), our team has collected more than 60 strains of this rare species.
    .
This majestic mushroom is threatened to become extinct in Europe. Our efforts are to preserve as many strains as possible for future investigations into their benefits. My lifetime goal is to collect 100 strains, and compare them all. We are now on that path.
    .
We do not harvest the fruitbodies unless they are in forests that are going to be logged or otherwise threatened. Sometimes we find them laying on the mossy forest floor. Our preferred method is to only take a small fragment of tissue less the size of a finger nail so theses conks continue to thrive.
    .
Respect to ALL. Our ancestors and our descendents are calling out to us. We must listen.
    .

The field of mycology itself in my opinion is a result of Stamets' book. He's going to save the world!❤

Finding a University that teaches "mycological medicines" will be difficult as there is no such degree path. However, you can enroll in a biology program just like Paul Staments did. Then follow an advisor to get your Masters and P.hD. After you get a few papers published, maybe you will get the chance to get a job in a lab. Or a company selling mushroom supplements.

    • @PostPatriot
      @PostPatriot 4 года назад +13

@@70wolfnipplechips41 Then you know nothing about the "field of mycology". 😂
There are hundreds of mycologists who paved the way for Paul Staments to do what he did.
You are only aware of who he is because he wrote a comprehensive guide to Psilocybin mushrooms.
Actually, if you pay attention to what he says, he merely takes part in studies. You really should look into research being done via peer reviewed journals and save the RUclips for entertainment.

You do realize this video has been around for quite a while. Lol! Whoever manages his channel probably reuploaded it for the views. Its a simple trick for making revenue on RUclips. If a vid gets a lot of views the first time, show it again!
And no, He doesnt have a cure for it and wouldnt be claiming to.
Take your immune boosters, pay attention to personal sanitation.

Another great, concise upload by Paul & his team. Sad to see that such an adaptive, potent, long living fungus can potentially go extinct in some strains. The work these guys are doing to preserve such strains for the rest of us and for future generations is immeasurable. We should all be immensely grateful. Hope one day soon to see a sequel released to the classic movie, Fantastic Fungi :)

    worm composting the new way:
replace your worms with pink oyster, oyster or, in case you have achat snails ( achatina fulica)in your bin, with button mushroom.they live off the snail poo.
results are fantanstic.attracts some gnats, but the earth worms do more.
recently composted citrus fruits to see if the oyster is able to kill off citrus molds( which are very cancerous).works out pretty well.
