This is a very special plugin, easily the best sounding VST I own. Usually even if a VST sounds close, it will lack something, but not this. I'm tweaking away making lots of patches with this synth, it's really inspirational!
I got the UAD minimoog yesterday after playing with it for a bit... This is far superior to all the other emulations! As usual, UA, thanks for taking all of my money...
I have soaked in all available UA Luna news. All I need for completion are I/O Utility for Hardware Inserts, mirrored EQ curves on different channels, mirrored ghost notes on the piano roll, perfect roundtrip latency delay compensation and I will finally have one perfect DAW!
Universal Audio but 300€ for a virtual instrument is way too high. For the same money you get a Behringer model d. I’ll wait for a promotion... or uad you can also give me a discount coupon? ;) just saying

Ive been considering moving from Logic to Luna. After this (thorough) demonsration of Lunas Minimoog and Ravel Piano, whats not to like? UA consistently delivers premium sampled instruments and outboard; I should know... Ive got Many Many vintage synths and a ton of outboard gear, that every time I hear the latest comparisons from OTB vs ITB UA kills it. I am going to do more homework on Luna; this very well may become my new DAW platform. And Kudos to Dave Lebolt, you are a killer player. Great great instructional video guys.
I have to say that Shape sounds really good for a standard library of sounds. Certainly better than what comes with Studio One and at least as good as what comes with Logic Pro (which is seriously good). Well done! That said, I will not invest in the paid instruments as long as they are tied to LUNA. But if you make them available as standard AU or VST instruments I'd be happy to, because they sound fantastic.
Any plans to make Ravel Piano available for use in other DAWs? I would love to use this incredible sounding piano live in Mainstage, since LUNA isn't really made for live gigs.

Idea for your next product : a 16 faders controllers which would allow to control luna and all the parameters of UA plug ins, the main parameters of multi apollo system (the current « console »), and monitoring section. Vintage style please, with nice big meters.
I see there are premium Sptifire libraries to purchase on the UA site, but no specs or articulations and size. It would be nice to have that info. I also assume these new instruments are all using the new advance latency processing so it is lower than using an AU or VST plugin? Can we expect closer to hardware synth/workstation type playback? Finally, what about midi mapping for controlling the instrument parameters?
"Shipping alongside Luna" - What does this mean? Are Ravel, Minimoog, Chamber Strings and Shape included with Luna, or do I need to purchase everything separately after buying an Apollo Twin X? Each instrument has a price tag on UA's website...
How do you obtain all these sounds? Do you have to purchase them? My strings folder only has 4 patches to choose from! You have tons! What is Spitfire? I finally got my free Minimoog plug in to work... took forever! I want to party all these sounds like you dudes!

Sure, all digital systems has some latency. We publish a 1.1ms spec @ 96k for audio, not sure what the ms number is for VIs, sorry, but as you can see, Dave had ZERO problems with the set up! 😀There are no buffer settings, everything has been optimized for you.

@@UniversalAudio Thanks for responding. I'm aware of the AU support, and while most virtual instruments and FX ARE hybrid in that way, some are not, and AU is MAC only. So, that's an issue for the Windows users. I've been using UA (and MACs) exclusively for several years now; there's no better IO hardware/computer marriage. Absolutely no question about that at all... I'll use UA forever. Having said all of that... I compose and score in Steinberg Nuendo, so I don't think I'll make the exclusive transition to Luna.
That UAD Minimoog is more expensive than the hardware Behringer Model D and its almost twice the cash U-he Diva costs which is much more than just a Minimoog. Sounds quite "flat"... not as good as Diva and of course not like real hardware Model D. Strange pricing strategy.
Here is my problem - The cost of all the extensions. I own 2 DAWs and hundreds of insanely good plugins including Arturia V collection 7. Yet UAD feels it's a good idea to sell a minimoog plugin for 300$. What the heck? I don't care how much work went into their software. That price is ridiculous in today's market environment. Im sorry this LUNA thing is a fool's money grab and I am appalled they are going this route. Thanks for the free DAW UAD. But you will be getting absolutely none of my money for insultingly overpriced extensions.
Hi Delon, feel free to use LUNA along with all your UAD and Audio Units plugins for free. There's no requirement to buy anything else. Should you decide to try them, there are 14 day demos for Extensions and Instruments. There is absolutely no downside with this for you, it's all gravy as they say. Have fun!

I purchased all your reverbs and many of your other plugins despite the financial hit I took. But there comes a point when customers have to draw a line in the granite saying openly -- NO. The price of your virtual instruments need to be 100% protested. And you need to slash them at least in half to begin with.

Delon Lawrence I hear you but you can get a bundle for Luna that has the Neve Summing, Studer Tape, Ravel piano and Minimoog for just over £500 at the moment, which is much more affordable than each item individually. That’s probably equivalent to $550-600, which works out at around 150 bucks compared to 300 individually. I do like the free Oxide tape machine included in Luna. IK Multimedia charge a very high price for their official Hammond plugin - but I picked it up recently on sale. Slate have a different business model which will probably be the way of the future. I know UA keep trying to upsell but you’re not forced to buy their plugins or replace any of your other plugins. It would still be nice if their plugins were a lot cheaper!

Is Shape ONLY for LUNA? What about Apollo users? I am on PC and Luna is mac only but I would LOVE to get my hands on Shape :)
All LUNA Extensions and LUNA Instruments are exclusive to LUNA and will not work in other DAWs.

Shape and the ARP MIDI FX are included, but the others are optional purchases.

Most are mapped to the General MIDI spec.

Use a keyboard with a USB connection or get a MIDI interface (they are really cheap).
