I love how I went on about the sound quality for like a whole minute and she was just like “it’s pretty good” 😂 It truly shows how different our perspectives/priorities are and why I wanted to bring her on to share her thoughts! What do YOU look for the most in wireless earbuds?

So cozy and entertaining, yet still interesting.
I feel so grateful for the videos you made about the Apple Silicon stuff, and your scientific research method (although you claim that it's not scientific...).
This video was a great mix between the serious review, and the more casual "what do you think"-ness.
    Thanks for your generous work!

Hi James. I really liked your wife’s input as an everyday user. She made me realize that I wasn’t going crazy with my 3ANC idiosyncrasies! A couple of things that I wanted to say. I was hoping for your in-depth thoughts at the end of the piece regarding their sound quality. I purchased a pair a couple months back and was a little disappointed with them and ended up buying Bose QuietComfort Ultra which so far I prefer. I haven’t given up on Status as maybe they need a little more breaking in? Besides the sound quality the thing I find lacking in their software is the EQ section. You have to boost or cut frequencies without hearing the actual effect on the sound then apply the settings. Anyway, not giving up on them yet.
The one other thing I’d like to see as far as your videos go is a review of Soothe2. I recently bought it and have been blown away by their ability to “tame” harsh frequencies without sacrificing sound quality. Love to hear your thoughts.
Keep up the great work. Always enjoy your submissions.
    Donald

I’m glad your wife feels the same way as I do regarding the app. In addition, why won’t it doesn’t connect to the earbuds when the earbuds themselves are already connected to the device you’re using. It totally needs a rehaul!
As for the earbuds themselves, they are the best sounding earbuds I’ve ever heard. The 3 drivers make a huge difference giving good separation and balance. Sub bass is not muddy, I can almost feel it rather than hear it. I have a pair of Sony WH-1000 MK3, which are considered in the top 5. I thought those were amazing, but in comparison, the bass is more muddy than the Status. The Sony app offered more features, but sometime, just having something that gives you a solid performance without any bells and whistles is all one needs. Now if they’d only fix the app…

I own a pair of the 3ANC's. I use them specifically use them for music. They sound amazing and they are loud! I also very much appreciate the deep bass in these 3ANC's! The noise cancelling on these are ok. I still believe Apple's Airpods Pro are far superior. The controls however, I agree with your wife. They work but not the best. My greatest pet peeve with these 3ANC's is that if I am listening to music in my Tesla and leave to go to the gym with my iPhone, the bluetooth doesn't work. They're still connected to the Tesla. I have to turn off the earbuds and turn back on for them connect to my iPhone 15 Pro. The ios app seems worthless to me. It's a barebones minimum app. With all that said, The 3ANC's are a one of the best sounding wireless earbuds in the market but, there are lots of bugs that need to be fixed. They've been out for 8 months and I'm surprised they haven't fixed many of these issues with firmware.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah I feel like Status Audio put everything into the sound quality while everything else became an afterthought. I feel like that puts these earbuds in a weird position in the market, because the true audiophiles who would really appreciate 3ANC's superior sound quality won't get these earbuds since they do not support lossless audio, but then the 3ANCs don't have the best ease of use features that are important to the more average users like yourself and my wife. The 3ANCs are "a flawed gem" for sure, as another review puts it.

Samantha, these earbuds allow you to connect to the last two devices used, if available. For me, they are almost always my iPad and iPhone. When I take them out and put them on, I hear it saying “Connected “ twice-once for each of my two devices. I can normally switch between devices, just by starting play on the other device and the other will quickly fade out, while the newly active device will fade in.
