I have a 2005 9N3 Polo and I was surprised when I took out the original stock radio. I do not have the ISO connectors but the so called "quadlock" connector. There are a bunch of adapters "ISO to quadlock" but it's very complicated because every Polo (or VW) has a different pinout on the quadlock connector. But to keep it simple for all of you that like to fiddle with electronics, if you don't have cruise control, steering wheel buttons and the fancy stuff you can modify any ISO to quadlock adapter for the power input to the stereo. You need three wires, black for negative, yellow for constant 12V and red for 12V that comes live only when the ignition is switched on. The audio side of the connector doesn't have to modified. If you're wondering why is there such a thing as a "quadlock" connector, according to my web search it was adopted by VW in 2004 because of the CANBUS interface that allows a car to be "smart", shortly explained. Who invented such a thing I don't know. If I had a pre 2004 Polo 9N my stereo would be already banging. :) Cheers!
Search for this on EBay. You will need this VW harness adapter: PC2-75-4 WIRING HARNESS You'll also need a VW aerial adapter. (search for "VW aerial adapter")

I got myself a volkswagen polo 2004 for my first car and I was wondering one thing: The cables that I need to connect behind I just need to disconnect the cables from my old stereo and connect them to me new one? Do I need an adapter of sorts? I'm really interested in this system I looked into as it packs both bt connecting and screen mirroring and removing the radio was easy enough but I don't wanna invest into a new stereo without knowing everything I might need. Thanks for your time.

your red wire (power) and yellow wire ( continuous power) cables might be the wrong way round. check them and ensure all the colours match with the diagram in the instructions.

Get a better Android 8.1 based unit at least. (Around £60 on EBay) Don't buy the absolute cheapest. Honestly you'll regret it. You'll need a double din facia designed specifically for your polo, ( rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F362045692999 ) This converts the styling of the dash to fit a standard size double din radio. The Ebay link I posted should fit and contains the harness adapter, aerial adapter and removal keys for a tenner. Good luck!

I have some issues with date/time always resetting to 01-01-2012 00:00 after turning off the car and waiting a few minutes. If I start car the within e.g. a minute or so both date and time are intact and correct, but if I wait more than minute to start the car, it reset to 01-01-2012 00:00... Also on another note I'm not able to save any radio stations, they are also being reset to default, and same above, if I start the car within a minute or so they are intact... Is this something anyone can relate to and perhaps have suggestions on how fix this...?
magicmashrom this is due to the fact your constant power wire isn’t connected correctly . This most of the time is yellow. Without there being constant power to the radio it won’t retain its saved settings. I’d check your wiring most of the time you will just require to move a few cables around.

This is a fab video and I followed everything. Cut the wire, brought an antenna etc but Can anyone help. I have three problems. I am unable to get any radio stations to tune in. When I turn the car off, all time and date settings reset. When I put my headlights on, the screen flashes. Can anyone help me please.
Most likely you’ve got your wires muddled up. The likely reason your stereo flashes is it’s responding to your headlights assuming you are going into reverse . Trying to open the reversing camera screen. Take a look at your connections again. You may need to rewrite them. The date and time is once again because your “constant wire” is not connected properly so there isn’t continued power going to the stereo.

I did exactly the same as in the video but now my vw golf IV won't start anymore. I checked all the fuses but they weren't blown. Everything works, lights, radio, windows etc. But when i turn the key, i hear a click and thats it..

Brown and black plugs are DIN connectors. You surely can find any adaptators in any supermarket or car oreinted market place.
