I stopped buying cable back then, and I've always ran adblock plus-- I just never see ads and it feels so weird if you drop into someone's house and they still watch cable TV with ads constantly blasted on their screen. Same, I think the last time I watched network television with any regularity was 2006 or so, I'm adblocked to the hilt and just don't see what most of us would readily call ads. The only time I see "TV" is at the gym and I'm always left aghast at what kind of drooling livestock of a person would pay money to watch it.
I did actually quit my job recently. After almost 8 years of working for my fat boss and getting nothing in return other than a check, I had enough. Now I have time to build custom bluetooth speakers and tend to my garden. If there are too many people in the latter group, they will drag the entire system down with them every single time. The solution is to fix the environment so that we don't cross the point of no return. The success of humanity depends directly on the morale of humanity. Natural disasters aside, our collective morale will directly manifest our destiny. Obesity, depression, and suicide rates are the first warnings of a collapsing empire.

well i did actually used to work on a project that was based on the fact that it's becomming more commonplace that people can't actually fall asleep without background noise. And the number of "Idle watchers" is increasing at an alarming rate. Basicly we where writing code to check if is someone fell asleep based on input behavior/what time of day etc.. if so then run . It was pretty sketchy and we didn't got told for what purpose it would be used.
