  • Stringing your marionette is the final step that really brings your creation to life. When you first connect to the controller and see that all of your hard work has paid off it can be a rewarding experience.

    Clever. I had no idea that the length of string needed on the controller corresponds to your arm position. I just assumed it was a random length. The manipulation is great - good evidence that you're on the right track with your stringing, even with your intended adjustments.

      If you ever try moving a marionette around for even a few minutes with short strings your back will hate you! Thanks for the comment!

    Very well defined technique of stringing. It's the simplest of the simple ones. A beginner should be very comfortable and confident in stringing ones own. Great! Thank you. This is Subhasis Sen from Tal-Betal Puppet Theatre, Kolkata; west-Bengal (India) .

      Thanks Rod, I sent the original comment from my private RUclips channel but I’ll answer you from my projects channel, since this is where I’ll be making the marionette on I’m actually making a marionette that is shaped like a battery on its side and I’m having an issue with how to string the puppet so that the strings don’t get in the way do you maybe have an email address I can send the concept pictures to? And maybe you have some good advice on how to string up this puppet. The puppets will be used in a music video in about two weeks :)

    Thank you for the tutorial video - How does one make sure that the arm strings and leg strings are away from each other enough to not prohibit the mobility and movement?

    • @WatercolourQuickandEasy
      @WatercolourQuickandEasy  5 месяцев назад

      Good question! The strings of the marionettes knees and off the Marionette‘s hands have to come straight up or angled out slightly.
      The strings should not angle in towards the centre or they are in danger of getting tangled up.

      Another great question. There is a video of me making this head. This marionette has a hole on each side of the head and a wooden dowel glued into the hole. Later when the glue is dried I put in an eye hook! ruclips.net/video/8-cSZO0c1TI/видео.html

    what type of string can you use to re-string? I can't find puppet string anywhere and would love some recommendations! thanks

    • @WatercolourQuickandEasy
      @WatercolourQuickandEasy  4 года назад

      Great question! Mostly I use embroidery floss. It is a type of sting that is strong and also does not flex. It also comes in lots of colours. You could also use para cord. That is what I use in this video.
      Let me know if you have any questions.

    • @WatercolourQuickandEasy

      If the strings work don't replace them. If you want more freedom of movement, add a separate controller for the hands and arms.

      @@attilathehamster6774 Very often I string marionettes with embroidery floss. It is super strong and comes in lots of different colours. It will be really easy to find. I have another video about how to string a marionette and I use the embroidery floss there.
