- This is episode 1 of a series called 'Hysterical Records' aka 'अति-हास्य' which aims to dig deep into Indian history, especially the hysterical claims made in the name of religious nationalism by BJP/RSS/VHP.
Episode 1 debunks the claims of BJP/RSS about India's history being based on Sanatan Dharm / Vedic religion for the last 5000-10000 years. I spoke to Dr. Ruchika Sharma, PhD & History professor @eyeshadowetihaaswithruchika in this episode to fact check false claims in the popular Indian narrative.

@tokitomuimui Hibduism is not one religion. Before Buddhism, there was vedic religion and the dravdian religion, which is matriarchal and nature worship. Today's hinduism, which is derived from puranas, mahabharata and ramayana etc . is post Buddhist. Ramayana story is inspired by Buddhist jataka kathas . Mahabharata is inspired by Buddhist kathas and torah and Talmud from jews. The name krishna is actually name given for a daitya who was killed by Indra .

One thing we need to acknowledge is that almost all the scholars or historians have their personal biases - Abhijit Chavda and Dr. Ruchika Sharma must have their own. When these studies are being published, do you really think that these are raw observations? I disagree.
The thing I appreciate here is narrator's acceptance that we are living in an era of post-truth modernism where every understanding is a misunderstanding. And this is not only happening since 2014. It has been happening since long (which also include period of INC government). So whom to believe - it may be possible that Ruchika ji has bias against Hindutva and Abhijit has bias for Hindutva.
In the era of infowar, let's question everything. Think rationally and indulge ourselves in relevant deliberations. Don't blindly follow anyone - whether it is your government or it is some random historian giving lectures on some random YT channel.
And for the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata - why is one section dying to prove that these are actual events in history and the other section is eager to prove that these are mythology? I believe that the intention of these (factual or mythological) stories are to determine the social ethics and give us all life-lesson on how to conduct ourselves. Let's get over the obsession to prove these epics right or wrong and focus more on the lessons and learnings.

The Assyriologist Gustave Opert opined that the Sumerians were the migrant people from the east of Mesopotamia, who brought the culture of brick making and city building. Another major proof of the Vedic or Hindu religion NOT being thousands of years old is the fact that we cannot find classical Sanskrit in India before the 5th - 6th century AD. Before that, Pali and Prakrit were written in the Dhamma script. Interestingly, none of the so-called Hindu scriptures are found in Pali.
Moreover, when the British excavated the Ashoka Pillar with Pali engravings, Indian Pandits called it "Bheem's Gada" because they couldn't decipher it.
The only thing that is thousands of years old in India is the false ego and baseless confidence.
Vedic sanskrit was standardized by panini that we now call classical sanskrit, vedic sanskrit is far more older than classical sanskrit.
Vedas were also composed in vedic sanskrit and linguistic evidence suggests that the oldest hymns of rigveda can be 5500-5300 years old.

I encourage everyone to find the genetics study of our ancestors and our DNA. There is a study comparing harappan people’s DNA to the present DNA as well. It’s a complex and fascinating read. There have multiple migration’s throughout the North West India and Persia multiple times and that has left a trail in our DNA. It’s not only accurate, it’s beautiful. Mad it’s of no use if you tell this to an andh Bhakt.
Another point about when someone says everything wrong in the school books. School books can only publish information which have been published in a reputable peer reviewed journal and accepted.

Firstly I majorly support your thoughts, but just because something has not been discovered yet or theory has proven which was earlier believed to be untrue just denotes scientific research and development.
Findings will keep on happening. I believe many things might be of metaphorical nature in our texts like hanumanji trying to eat sun etc might be of symbol that someone trying to gulp down rage etc but stilll strong judgements on each side should not be made.

Being a civil service aspirant, I always look for objective videos that are based on facts. While this one is very much aligned with it, there are elements of pick and choose on certain facts. I understand that the sole purpose of this channel is to expose BJP but it kinda takes away from the objectiveness of the video. Just like Ranveer's videos, this was too very definitive due to the political involvement. Same thing happens when I look at right wing channels as well. I'm not biased against any side bcoz both are more alike than they actually seen to be.
A good thing about this video is that it is promoting inclusivity by indirectly stating that we have ancestors from different parts outside of the country (🤫 it's not only Hindu's country but Muslim's as well) but in the effort it is devaluing Hindu's ancestory. Ofcourse, I don't believe any of the hypothetical rewriting of the past that BJP leaders spin to further their Hindu rashtra agenda, and believe that Ramayan and Mahabharat are an exaggerated and glamorized epics of a very possible real time event. The video kinda smirks that hastinapur didn't have any palaces. Also, when describing the landscape of "Akhand Bharat", it preferably omits the Gupta's,Mauryan's, Maratha's and a collection of smaller Hindu States that ruled the landscape. It stated that there were just two empires that ruled a big enough area ( 😉 and both aren't hindus😉) Aurangzeb's and Ashoka's.

See, the video still has many redeeming qualities but the focus being BJP instead of actual history is taking me out from it and makes it look like I'm watching a political video instead of history video. Apart from the historical facts stated in the video which I've learnt from books I've no reason to believe that others are true as well. The female narrator being actually who she claims she is or just a random paid narrator with a script is also a point of doubt when we can't see her face to verify it.
I know this comment would either be deleted or get lost in comments section in midst of antibjp comments just like it happens in a right wing channel with an anti BJP comment. Worst case scenario is getting hate comments 😂😂😂.
Finally someone with objectivity. I also smelled some coffee when he said the 2 Akhand Bharat kingdoms were Ashok and Aurangzeb while dismissing Maratha Empire 😅. Even if we agree on Aryan migration , still Aryans were one of the oldest ethnicity lot before arrival of Abrahamic religions.
Aryans were a race while religion is totally different thing (race is an ascribed status while religion ia a non ascribed status) both people following Abrahamic religions and non Abrahamic religions and even atheists in India are having the same ancestors i.e, the aryans
The problem here is definition of Hindus, the left often tries to divide various cultures and say Hindus is umbrella term for people belonging to Indian subcontinent, so if you apply that logic naturally Harappans where Hindus but then left will argue that they worship different gods, they ate different food.

Harappans were at best proto-Hindu in the sense of religion. We have examples of nature worship, mother goddess, Pasupati. But we do not know much about their beliefs in detail so nothing can be said conclusively.
