Almost 6 years ago I lost my husband to cancer, leaving me with 8 kids, the youngest 3…that first morning this song came on at the perfect moment in my life. It helped me keep getting back up every day. Today I AM stronger. It’s a hard love, but the Lord never leaves us to face it alone. There is still joy in living with His love. Every time this song comes on, it is a very real reminder.
I got a referral to an oncologist yesterday....I have a 5yo daughter and a 3 yo daughter plus 1 yo twin girls. I'm praying so hard God will heal me. I pray you and your husband have your prayers answered as well. ❤ Our God can do anything.

It is so so hard though. I'm 43 never married he's 50 married once before and it was over 20 yrs ago he divorced. I'm a very instantly forgiving person, where he hangs on to things and takes many days if ever to forgive. I just get tired of hearing about stuff that happened 6mos or 1 yr ago. I pray for him all the time and me too..i don't know if I can live like that. But it is true love we have. We've tested each other's love many times and ways so who knows?!
This song saved my life. I was in a very dark place, and made some very bad decisions that I regret deeply but when I listen to the song, it reminded me that I still can be saved and loved by Jesus I didn’t realize how lost I was until I heard this song on the radio. I'm an atheist and this group is one of my favorites...this song is my favorite by them, especially featuring Andra Day. She makes it so much more powerful and the 2 of them together would make me happy if they did more. You don't have to be a believer to enjoy, appreciate and have Christian music in your Playlist. Atheists aren't bad people, though there are some, just as there are some pretty awful Christians (ex: white supremacists, Donald Trump to start). I respect all religions that don't hate others as a tenet of their belief system. Just treat people with dignity, respect and kindness. Ask questions and learn about one another. Not to upset your faith but I think a large part of it is that there are a lot of religious songs that hold more meaning than religion. That's one of the greatest things about religion is that even without god or beliefs it can provide for a person something that few other things can and the songs people produce from those meanings can touch people on even a grander scale.

Just broke up 2 months ago after 5 years of relationship, and my ex now already in a new relationship for almost a month now. When I found out about it, no lie, it hurts every part of me. I'm healing now, plus, listen to this song make me burst into tears, but in a happy means and I know that I can do it, I can move on, I can heal. I'm going through a very similar situation with my wife. 13 years married she left and did some regrettable things however through the love, healing and grace of God He has touched our lives for the better and brought us closer together. For anyone out there just hang on listen to God and trust in Him He'll get you through the storms of your lives. You are never alone. Be patient and loving.

You can! I did my own thing for 6 months but then took him back which was the worst mistake ever because his abuse got worse and so did his manipulation and gas lighting. He calls about 15 to 20 times a day and stalks me. I’ve also unfortunately had to cut my mom out of my life sense he is in contact with her and he stays in contact with my brother. I’m done. There’s a time that came when I had to ask myself do I listen to what my family says about my ex or do I listen to what Jesus says? I’m still trying to figure out what he wants from me but it is clearly not this relationship.

In one of my classes, we start each day by sharing something that inspires us. I started playing this song and had to stop after the second verse because I was bawling my eyes out. I told the class it inspired me because I'm going to an art school, and although I know God wants me to be there, many people in my life have expressed their disappointment in me for choosing to be an artist. I knew that other students in the room could relate and the teacher thanked me for bringing up such an important topic. I absolutely love this song because it gives me the courage to keep going and do the right thing even when the world is against us.

This song has got me through my toughest days and longest nights. I remember to put my focus on Jesus and to let him be in control. We just have to hold onto his promise and stand strong! God will never leave you! In the midst of my breaking points, I just cried out in prayer for strength. God just recently delivered my son through his worst few months of his life and restored his peace. Now he's back to his typical self thanks to the power in the name of Jesus! Hang in there and hold tight to his promises.

I found your song Hard Love on the Shack soundtrack. I put my trust in our heavenly Father 36 yrs ago. Married for 37 yrs, 2 grown children, son and a daughter. There's been some bumps in the road, family deaths, disappointments etc but we managed, w/ God's help, to survive and overcome. Three months ago, our beloved first born and only son was hit & killed by a drugged driver. He died on impact, they say. Having 2 policeman knock on your door at 6am to tell you your son is gone was the most gut-wrenching, white hot searing pain any parent can feel. He leaves behind a wife, 4 yr old, heart broken sister, parents & friends. This is a HARD LOVE clawing back to our relationship with God, all the questions, HOW CAN THIS BE??!!, we prayed a hedge of protection & pled the blood of Jesus every day over our kids & grandkids!! A piece of us died that day, what don't kill us makes us stronger, we now have to get back up bc this is a hard love. Trying to make sense of it, lots of unanswered questions. Where else do we go for healing? The world certainly doesn't have anything to offer. This is HARD, though!!

Christie Locke sure true, it was good they did this version. But still.. they actually included a small audio clip of Lauren (3:20) in this version. I understand that, because Lauren killed it!! Such an epic addition to the lyrics. Love all the collaborations on this song, but Lauren was definitely the best one in my opinion.
My husband has struggled with severe depression for 6 years. He's finally coming into a time of better health, but I've been so torn down in the process that I can't seem to appreciate the new health he is finding. My thoughts and my emotions trend down as his trend up. I've felt emotionally like I felt physically during those last 10 minutes of childbirth - I'm so exhausted that I can't push anymore. This song helped with the passing of my very sweet cat, Sassy. She got hit by a car, broke her back, her hips and three of her legs. She was screaming and meowing. She crawled like a zombie crawler, just wanting someone to help her. I had to put her to sleep. May Sassy forever be with us and the Lord our God. Love you guys and keep up your good work.
I had a cat named Sassy, She was more human than animal, she would walk to the store with me and go inside, she would jump up on the counter when we were through she would jump down and lead the way home,I have a lung disease at night when I would be struggling to breathe she would run back and forth over me to wake me up so I could get my medication in time, I had her for 14 years, the day I had to put her down, I cried for days and I still have her toys, anybody that says it's just an animal can kiss my *ASS*

When you get the phone call informing you that you have the big C word, and I do mean Cancer then for the battle of and for your life. Put your faith in God to survive. When I got that phone call my 1st thought was, Please tell me you got the wrong person or the wrong diagnosis, please tell me that. Within a few more minutes of talking to them I knew they had the right person and the right diagnosis, and that I HAD CANCER. My 2nd thought was, OK God, how do WE get through this together? Because not only have I survived Cancer but a stroke and a blood bacteria too. I’m also diabetic and I have a pacemaker too. I should be 6 feet under now, but by the grace of God I’m not. Everyone should thank God for every new day of life that they live. Because every day is a gift from God. Never take for granted that you will be alive tomorrow. Praise God for every new day you live.
This world isn’t easy to get through, and for some people it’s extremely hard and difficult, and they suffer alot. We need to put our faith in God to get through this life. When (not if) we go through adversity in this life that we need to put our faith in the one who made us and loves each and every one of us so much that he send him one and only son to die on a cross. 😢 But Jesus Christ didn’t stay dead, he proved that he was 100% human and 100% God by rising from the dead. Put your faith in Jesus to help you get through whatever you are going through in your life.
I agree. This song is about the message. This song can hold its own. Andra Day has a unique sound that adds some depth to this song. Additionally, it lends itself to be as anthemic as the previous versions. Also, Lauren Daigle's voice can be heard around 3:14 - 3:23. Her voice is building up in the background and sounds like she's saying "love" drawn out similar to how she did in her version around the same portion of the song.
Woke up this morning and was having a bad morning, but as I started to pray the Lord opened up my heart and as I listened the music he began to show me his grace and peace, every song led me closer to him. I love NEEDTOBREATHE....I love this song and the violin part transmits a hope feeling....I haven't gone to church for almost 10 years, got tired of hypocrites people and people in general.....but I love God and I listen to this group every morning on the radio on my way to work....it is my especial time between me and God..... my kids are now teenagers and every day I feel guilty that they are not close to GOD or we are not that close anymore....I'm praying they agree to go see this group with me October 16/17 ( 10/02 /birthday gift) so they can be touch through this group.
My wife and I live in Panama City, FL, and while our home was messed up rather badly by Hurricane Michael last week we weren't in the really bad parts. We were driving back from a supply run we had made to drop stuff off for family and friends in the parts of town that were hit badly. On the return trip this song came up on our playlist, and it made us realize how much the storm had changed us in just a few days. We now know we can muscle through days without running water and air conditioning, and still get back up to help those around us. Such a deep meaning. The walk with christ is never easy and when you leave your old sinful life going through deliverance hurts, it burns its a terrifying experience but it's so worth it. Your old self dies, your demons leave, you life changes, God rescues you from you agony and it makes you into a different person. It's a love that I'd hard to follow because of the fire you go through but it's surely a beautiful love you'll never want to let go.

Almost 6 years ago I lost my husband to cancer, leaving me with 8 kids, the youngest 3…that first morning this song came on at the perfect moment in my life. It helped me keep getting back up every day. Today I AM stronger. It’s a hard love, but the Lord never leaves us to face it alone. There is still joy in living with His love. Every time this song comes on, it is a very real reminder.

Bill Hughes Bill, thank you for sharing that! I have been so on the fence with my ex. We're still talking, trying i guess, I've felt since we met that he was the one God chose for me. It is so so hard though. I'm 43 never married he's 50 married once before and it was over 20 yrs ago he divorced. I'm a very instantly forgiving person, where he hangs on to things and takes many days if ever to forgive. I just get tired of hearing about stuff that happened 6mos or 1 yr ago. I pray for him all the time and me too..i don't know if I can live like that. But it is true love we have. We've tested each other's love many times and ways so who knows?!

I'm an atheist and this group is one of my favorites...this song is my favorite by them, especially featuring Andra Day. She makes it so much more powerful and the 2 of them together would make me happy if they did more. You don't have to be a believer to enjoy, appreciate and have Christian music in your Playlist. Atheists aren't bad people, though there are some, just as there are some pretty awful Christians (ex: white supremacists, Donald Trump to start). I respect all religions that don't hate others as a tenet of their belief system. Just treat people with dignity, respect and kindness. Ask questions and learn about one another. Not to upset your faith but I think a large part of it is that there are a lot of religious songs that hold more meaning than religion. That's one of the greatest things about religion is that even without god or beliefs it can provide for a person something that few other things can and the songs people produce from those meanings can touch people on even a grander scale.

You can! I did my own thing for 6 months but then took him back which was the worst mistake ever because his abuse got worse and so did his manipulation and gas lighting. He calls about 15 to 20 times a day and stalks me. I’ve also unfortunately had to cut my mom out of my life sense he is in contact with her and he stays in contact with my brother. I’m done. There’s a time that came when I had to ask myself do I listen to what my family says about my ex or do I listen to what Jesus says? I’m still trying to figure out what he wants from me but it is clearly not this relationship.

In one of my classes, we start each day by sharing something that inspires us. I started playing this song and had to stop after the second verse because I was bawling my eyes out. I told the class it inspired me because I'm going to an art school, and although I know God wants me to be there, many people in my life have expressed their disappointment in me for choosing to be an artist. I knew that other students in the room could relate and the teacher thanked me for bringing up such an important topic. I absolutely love this song because it gives me the courage to keep going and do the right thing even when the world is against us.

This song has got me through my toughest days and longest nights. I remember to put my focus on Jesus and to let him be in control. We just have to hold onto his promise and stand strong! God will never leave you! In the midst of my breaking points, I just cried out in prayer for strength. God just recently delivered my son through his worst few months of his life and restored his peace. Now he's back to his typical self thanks to the power in the name of Jesus! Hang in there and hold tight to his promises.

I found your song Hard Love on the Shack soundtrack. I put my trust in our heavenly Father 36 yrs ago. Married for 37 yrs, 2 grown children, son and a daughter. There's been some bumps in the road, family deaths, disappointments etc but we managed, w/ God's help, to survive and overcome. Three months ago, our beloved first born and only son was hit & killed by a drugged driver. He died on impact, they say. Having 2 policeman knock on your door at 6am to tell you your son is gone was the most gut-wrenching, white hot searing pain any parent can feel. He leaves behind a wife, 4 yr old, heart broken sister, parents & friends. This is a HARD LOVE clawing back to our relationship with God, all the questions, HOW CAN THIS BE??!!, we prayed a hedge of protection & pled the blood of Jesus every day over our kids & grandkids!! A piece of us died that day, what don't kill us makes us stronger, we now have to get back up bc this is a hard love. Trying to make sense of it, lots of unanswered questions. Where else do we go for healing? The world certainly doesn't have anything to offer. This is HARD, though!!

My husband has struggled with severe depression for 6 years. He's finally coming into a time of better health, but I've been so torn down in the process that I can't seem to appreciate the new health he is finding. I had a cat named Sassy, She was more human than animal, she would walk to the store with me and go inside, she would jump up on the counter when we were through she would jump down and lead the way home,I have a lung disease at night when I would be struggling to breathe she would run back and forth over me to wake me up so I could get my medication in time, I had her for 14 years, the day I had to put her down, I cried for days and I still have her toys, anybody that says it's just an animal can kiss my *ASS*

When you get the phone call informing you that you have the big C word, and I do mean Cancer then for the battle of and for your life. Put your faith in God to survive. When I got that phone call my 1st thought was, Please tell me you got the wrong person or the wrong diagnosis, please tell me that. Within a few more minutes of talking to them I knew they had the right person and the right diagnosis, and that I HAD CANCER. My 2nd thought was, OK God, how do WE get through this together? Because not only have I survived Cancer but a stroke and a blood bacteria too. I’m also diabetic and I have a pacemaker too. I should be 6 feet under now, but by the grace of God I’m not. Everyone should thank God for every new day of life that they live. Because every day is a gift from God. Never take for granted that you will be alive tomorrow. Praise God for every new day you live.
This world isn’t easy to get through, and for some people it’s extremely hard and difficult, and they suffer alot. We need to put our faith in God to get through this life. When (not if) we go through adversity in this life that we need to put our faith in the one who made us and loves each and every one of us so much that he send him one and only son to die on a cross. 😢 But Jesus Christ didn’t stay dead, he proved that he was 100% human and 100% God by rising from the dead. Put your faith in Jesus to help you get through whatever you are going through in your life.

I agree. This song is about the message. This song can hold its own. Andra Day has a unique sound that adds some depth to this song. Additionally, it lends itself to be as anthemic as the previous versions.
Also, Lauren Daigle's voice can be heard around 3:14 - 3:23. Her voice is building up in the background and sounds like she's saying "love" drawn out similar to how she did in her version around the same portion of the song.

I love NEEDTOBREATHE....I love this song and the violin part transmits a hope feeling....I haven't gone to church for almost 10 years, got tired of hypocrites people and people in general.....but I love God and I listen to this group every morning on the radio on my way to work....it is my especial time between me and God..... my kids are now teenagers and every day I feel guilty that they are not close to GOD or we are not that close anymore....I'm praying they agree to go see this group with me October 16/17 ( 10/02 /birthday gift) so they can be touch through this group.

My wife and I live in Panama City, FL, and while our home was messed up rather badly by Hurricane Michael last week we weren't in the really bad parts. We were driving back from a supply run we had made to drop stuff off for family and friends in the parts of town that were hit badly. On the return trip this song came up on our playlist, and it made us realize how much the storm had changed us in just a few days. We now know we can muscle through days without running water and air conditioning, and still get back up to help those around us. It's hard, but you never know how strong you are until everything is stripped away.

The negative influences of this world are designed to make our heart sick through emotional & physical pain resulting in a given person turning to music as one source of comfort to the body. The painful realty of this existence gives rise to the birth of music in two forms, earthly & HEAVENLY. Earthly music speaks to the experiences of this world through the singer-song writer’s eyes. Oftentimes drug use (i.e. alcohol, smokes, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, benzos and propofol to name a few) is intertwined with the survival of an artist to deal with the pressure of performing in order to stay relevant in the music industry, and to serve as fuel for creativity. As a result, music celebrities develop a tendency to sin against their body, through excessive drug use, for not measuring up to or to satisfy the demands of their music. Any earthly joy they experience is darkened by the heavy burden of performing and the loss of privacy.
The end users of their music become fans because the lyrics are relatable and the sound of the singer’s voice & rhythm helps them cope with the pains of this reality. Unfortunately, this band aid approach is only a time out from the hurt and in the meantime we are fortifying its wall with painful memories waiting in line. Who can save us from wounds that are silent, wordless and cruel all the while tearing us apart inch by inch on the inside, which could radically accelerate the demise of the human body? I will use caps as emphasis to show the honest reverence for GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY when writing about HEAVENLY music in the paragraphs below.
That INVINCIBLE DIVINE be our HEAVENLY FATHER, WHO THROUGH HIS SON’S MISSION HAS INSPIRED believers to write songs that sing of HIS LIFE GIVING LOVE to deal with emotional & physical pain, economic instability, mortality and the emotional instability of others with the motive of winning over souls for HIS KINGDOM. The melody & theme of HEAVENLY music is hateful and intolerable to the devil, a spirit which causes us to be blinded of the effects of sin and is responsible for the woes of this world such as melancholy, anguish, tribulation and trial. These agitations of the soul create a heavy burden for the lost and could lead him or her to be hostile of songs that sing about GOD’S GLORY. This makes it clear that we cannot win the spiritual battle by our own strength. Moreover, on earth the devil has no equal.
GOD has provided us with the ONE WHO CAN AND WILL LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt from a given sinner's heart if he or she (through faith) would open their understanding to Psalms (starting with the focus on Psalms 51:1-10 KJV), and hymns/songs giving praise to HIM for the purpose of being persuaded, converted and healed by the HOLY SPIRIT from within by transforming your body/temple into a meeting place for you and the KING OF THE AGES to commune as friends through the born again experience (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life). It is only here that the fears of tomorrow will diminish, the blessed assurance is given that you are HIS and HE LIVES. Once the blessed assurance is known in prayer (through the confession of wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, combine with admitting that JESUS CHRIST is LORD and believing in one’s heart that GOD raised HIM from the dead to deliver us from sin's guilt) the world can never take it away because the world didn’t give it to you.
Such a deep meaning. The walk with christ is never easy and when you leave your old sinful life going through deliverance hurts, it burns its a terrifying experience but it's so worth it. Your old self dies, your demons leave, you life changes, God rescues you from you agony and it makes you into a different person. It's a love that I'd hard to follow because of the fire you go through but it's surely a beautiful love you'll never want to let go.
This is about Jesus not a relationship. Hence the saying its a "hard love". God has a hard love. "Theyll see my strength in this love I found" Gods love He found. Life is hard and its all a test God loves us but its a hard love to make us stronger and in the end " the reward we get in heaven doesnt even compare to the suffering of earth" in other words as much as we suffer the reward is so much so where it is more than we deserve basically. So much so that a human mind cant even comprehend the glory and paradise that waits
