Thank you for this interesting video! Given the small baseline between the two rear cameras, I expect the Lume pad to be suitable for shooting macros. Did you experiment with that? Do you know what is the closest distance at which the images are still sharp and the 3D still working? I would also be curious about the depth of field at the minimum shooting distance, in case you know it... Thanks!
If you get a chance to talk to the CEO again you might draw his attention to the fact that Canon is now doing a 3D lens for their DSLR mirrorless camera.
I tried the app for extracting depth maps "LumePad Depth Map Extraction v.0.1.zip" but I was only able to extract 3 files (2 depth maps and a normal image). I would like to use it to get the image pair for a SBS. It has been over 215 days since it was modified. Is there a newer version? Thank you
@StereoPicture3D, I'm glad someone is using the tool :) The tool only creates the hidden images as files. The original file is your 4th image. So if you want a SBS pair, use the original file and the generated non-depth-map file and that is your SBS pair. Not intuitive I know, but it's all there.
@@StereoPicture3D - haha, I like the way you call this a "secret", it's probably more like a "bug" that I should really fix one day since one would probably expect to get all 4 images. But I'm glad that it makes sense and you can use it.
So, am I right, that 4view is additional interpolated images, made from 2 native stereoscopic images from rear cameras? I found that distant objects, like landscapes, filmed in 4Vwith my Hydrogen One are often looking somewhat artificial. I suppose that 4V camera, at least on Hydrogen One is not exactly stereoscopic, rather it is a simulation of stereoscopy. It is obvious that the distance between its cameras is far too little to have enough stereobase for the most of cases.

But in short, yes you are right, 4 view is generated from RGB images plus respective depth maps using an algorithm. As for the stereo-base, I agree, it is small. I haven't tried connecting a memory stick to the USB-C slot, but I understand that works. I tend to moved folder of images back and forth from connected PC.

I've done a quick experiment and found that closest distance that camera would focus was between 70 to 80mm. At that distance FOV was about 20mm.

Are you talking about the Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8 Dual Fisheye VR Lens?

128 gigs is not a lot at all to use it to shot data. Unless it is strictly for photos.
Yes, video obviously uses more storage. I admit I use it more for photos than videos, but do have a couple of full length movies on it also.
