Loved this episode! I appreciated the questions that society has deemed ‘taboo’, we really don’t talk about sex enough, especially in a vulnerable borderline embarrassing way. I wish the audience engaged more in the comments.

There is so much to unpack about Shannon’s 3 point requirement for great sex: consent, intent, and AUTHENTICITY. If 3 weeks later I feel like shit about what happened, one of those three was probably missing.
I was never given the sex talk. My mom would always say she was going to talk to me about it but truth be told I already knew about sex in elementary school because my friends teenage sister told us. So for years I asked my mother when would I get the talk just to f*ck with her because I knew she was uncomfortable talking about it. I taught my children before they went to school. We didn't use cute names. They knew the names for everything, they knew what sex was, how it worked, where babies come from. We talked about child molestation, everything. My son was one of those kids you literally couldn't lie to. At 3 this boy asked me a question I didn't think he was old enough to know the answer to so I made up something cute and he just looked at me and said 'Mommy. if you didn't want to tell me the truth why didn't you just say that" I said to myself, "God gave me on of those kids?" When he started kindergarden I told him if the other kids talk about sex please don't tell them anything because their parents most like will lie to them okay. It worked until 2nd grade. He told the kids where babies come from. I said didn't we agree we wouldn't tell the other kids. He said "but mommy they had no idea what they were talking about". They're both adults now. No surprise pregnancies, stds, nor were they molested. They're 24 and 30 now. Neither one has children. They have both said they appreciate the relationship we have as opposed to the relationship their friends have with their parents. They can talk to me about anything.

It depends how you look at it. If you see the state of virginity as someone who hasn't had sex before that's one thing.
However, if you see as someone having an unbroken hymen that's another. Because people can do sports and their hymen "breaks". They are still virgins though.
