BALLET BC X MARIE KHOURI

Dancers from Ballet BC visited the Gallery to present a performance inspired by the flowing arabesque-like forms of Marie Khouri's installation.
Friends turned artistic collaborators Marie Khouri and Ballet BC Artistic Director Medhi Walerski spent a recent afternoon at the Vancouver Art Gallery, exploring an improvisational response to Marie's latest exhibit in the Gallery's 1st Floor Rotunda.
Featuring excerpts from Medhi's celebrated duet Silent Tides as well as improvised elements, we're excited to share with you the result of this collaboration-brought to life through the artistry of Ballet BC dancers Sarah Pippin and Rae Srivastava.
This video was filmed and produced in collaboration with Ballet BC and Marie Khouri, featuring her installation I Love, currently on view at the Gallery until November 23, 2023. Choreography by Medhi Walerski in collaboration with the dancers and video by Peter Smida.

The movements and body of the dancer Sarah Pippin are mesmerizing. So beautiful and harmonious while expressing such square and angle shapes. Loved it!
