They also showed us the results where tourists had wandered off to see the 'endangered' polar bears. In polar bear country, they're not endangered, we are. "many would have wanted it dead but the bear was just doing what nature intended. "
Last time I checked, human wasn't on the menu for bears. In fact, most bears actively avoid humans. Bears hunting down humans isn't natural. What happened with this guy is the same as every other bear attack, f**ker broke the rules of coexisting and in so doing attracted a curious bear into his tent who was then suppressed by the bazar hairless mammal it found inside and attacked it out of fear. Trust me, if that bear wanted to kill and eat this f**ker, he'd be a pile of bear s**t right now.
That said, bears who attack people have a tendency to repeat it as they lose their fear of man and begin to see man as an easy food source, which is neither good for us or the bears. The only solution is to put the bear down before it becomes a rouge bear.

Matt is not only a badass, but a cool dude with a sense of humor. I did a little research to see how Matt's doing now, and came across a Sierra Club article on it. On his return-trip to the location of his attack, Richard Gross (one of the leaders who saved his life) was with Matt. Matt gave everyone in the group a present--a little polar bear figurine. When he got to Rich, Matt pulled out a special one; a polar bear that lit up with an LED light, because according to Matt "You saved my life with a light, so here's a little light for your world in return." Matt struggles with some cognitive motor functioning, but otherwise appears to be dong well and reportedly still enjoys being outdoors! I do not know if he's still working. I wish him well!!

They stated they felt like they were being hunted. They also were down to 3 flares, not enough to run off another bear if needed. What an experience that must have been, I wonder how many suffered PTSD.
Just to update the facts, apparently the helicopter crew had an armed bear guard with them but I can't make out if they left him there while the rest of them waited. Hello everyone, I don't mean to be a burden and I know this is random, but this is the most important thing you'll ever hear in your life. Jesus is coming back soon! God sent His only Begotten Son into the world, that whosoever shall believe on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Those who do not believe will be condemned. (John 3:16-18). Jesus died for our sins, and to set us free from our sins and condemnation (John 8:36, Acts 13:39). Jesus rose from the the grave 3 days later after His death, defeating death. He now lives forevermore, and seeing we have saving faith in Him, we too will live eternally with Him! Jesus is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6). Following Him is the best decision to make in life. Though the Christian life isn't a life absent of difficulty, despite any circumstance Jesus gives true peace and fulfillment, a peace and fulfillment this world cannot give (John 14, John 16).

I just love Mr. Ballen's storytelling abilities! Even if the story itself isn't interesting, he sure makes it interesting! The first video I watched, I thought, was boring, but before I knew it, I had binge watched about 4 hours of his videos, not to mention another couple hours of listening to his podcasts! Mr. Ballen, PLEASE keep making content!

@@CoconutscottAgreed. Even though I have been victimized by men in the past, I have never blamed it on them simply being men or masculine. I blame it on them being horrible people. Just people who are horrible. Nothing to do with their sex, because there are far more men who wouldn't and haven't done those awful things to me. I have met far more sympathetic masculine men who treated me well than masculine men who took advantage and harmed me. There are more women who have made me feel ugly and strange and treated me unkindly than men. Women are very catty lol they judge you far more harshly. A few men physically hurt me, and many women ostracized me. But in the end, they're all just terrible people.

It mentioned that the trip leaders prepared a big feast for the group. In any area where there are bears present it’s not a good idea to cook, eat or store food at your campsite where you sleep. A polar bear has the most powerful sense of smell of all bears and can smell your camp up to 20km away.
I’m just glad Matt survived to tell the tale. 🙏
