    Basically this method may work. But if you think about how such an O2-Sensor is structured you may think twice. Inside there´s a Circon-Dioxyde-Ceramic with really thin platinum-contactors (these two components bulid the sensor-cell), and high-frequency-vibrations can damage or destroy that ceramic. Trust me, at work I have to deal with such sensors almost every day - and I´m not working as a car-mechanic.

      That's why you utilize the plastic tray that ultrasonic cleaners usually come with, a person should avoid the metal on metal vibration with these.

    The hardest part of doing an O2 sensor is getting it off the car. Chuck the old one in the trash and put in a new one then be done with the job. You could do all that work cleaning it only to find out it's still bad

    Took out my O2 sensor and gave it this treatment. The gunk that came out was pretty surprising. Ran it for about 15 minutes, rinsed with alcohol, allowed to dry, reinstalled. Crossover rate certainly improved, but I still think it's reading slightly off (could be my MAF as well.. or maybe someone did a tune to the car... or I have a tiny leak somewhere... so many possibilities).
    New O2 sensor coming tomorrow... will have to see how it goes. Worst case - I have a spare O2 sensor :p (I already have five spare coils).

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 3 года назад

      It can be the O2 sensor or NOT. What the black pipe indicate is a overly rich mixture on the tail pipe end. (period) Nothing more, nothing less.
      Now the reasons can be many and sometimes even countersense one's. Like a very common intake leak, allowing more air in! Which supposedly should lean the mixture. But the problem is rich mix you might say! ;-)
      Well the mix is in fact lean, the O2 sensor pick up that reading and tell the ECU to dump more fuel to "compensate". Result rich mix and a black pipe!
      DO NO be so hasty judging mechanical failures. That's the ideal method to break your wallet and don't get the expected results. ;-)

      Y en otro recipiente con agua lo enjuagas lo puedes cardenal o con un cepillo de alambre así repetir varias veces asta ver la cerámica lo más limpia ojo no dejarlo olvidado por mucho tiempo. En jaguar muy bien todos los sensores que e limpiado de oxígeno son de acero inox y el interior de cerámica

    Are you sure submerging it is completly safe for the sensor?
    I just had one that started randomly flatlining almost immediately after recovering my truck from getting stuck flooded in 3 feet of water off road. (It was dark and I didn't think it was that deep till I tried to drive through it) There wasn't any water in the connector and a new sensor DID fix the issue. Coincidence maybe? The other 2 sensors didn't have any problems.

    Heating the tip with a torch is better and faster. Still don't mean it's gonna work it has a heat sensitive resistor inside you can't fix when that goes bad.

    are you sure that an O2 is waterproof? because submerging it in water could permanently damage it.

    • @christopherhernandez1502

      edward james as long as there is no electric current should be fine nothing will short circuit. Theoretically you can submerge a phone without a battery and it would be fine as long you let it dry properly.
