There is a more affordable alternative with the Seiko Alpinist 1959 Re-Interpretation SPB243J1, which has a very similar dial, that has a sunburst grey dial with the 1959 type indices. However, you do only get a 6R35 that runs at 21600 BPH. That being said, I much prefer some of the other dial colours of the 1959 Re-Interpretation line. So for me, I think I'd still rather buy some of the other more affordable alpinists and I'd be able to buy more than one too, giving me a selection of watches.
Would love 1 of these if it was at a reasonable price. Nice to see an historic reissue all the same. The spb243 is a bit more attainable for me 1 day maybe.....lol
As soon as you said book review channel and Kentucky I knew to whom who you were referring. I've been subscribed over there for a while. I hope to see one of them sporting the Alpinist. Honestly the Alpinists I like best are the old quartz models.
Nice looking watch which I'm sure will appeal to the Seiko enthusiasts but very pricey for what it is - there are plenty of COSC certified alternatives out there for less than half the money. Only one keeper on the strap is a bit ridiculous, particularly for those with smaller wrists who will end up with the tail flapping about. Would have been nice if the review addressed the negative as well as the positive aspects.
I have the SARA015 (internationally SJE073j) that also uses 6L35 internals but that one comes in at under 10mm overall height even with a display caseback. Also an LE but with a slightly lower number of units total and was cheaper when new - and on a bracelet to boot
It might have a thin movement which is great for this dress watch. So pretty confused it sits in the Alpinist range and comes on a bund strap. The whole thing just does not gel for me. Somebody said they had the Ginza edition on here, now that’s a watch that could justify this price tag IMHO of course. Dare say the Seiko fan boys will lap it up.
Really cool watch, box, review. Love Kentucky Man’s wife’s youtube channel. Reminds me of being in grad school, when I still bought real books (vs electronic). Books are cool, so is her channel. Check it out.
I did not know KYMan and his wife ran a channel with 300k subs. Wow. Congrats on that. So this one's not for me, its not the price per se just that case. Its too thick and not my style, bund or not. Beautiful watch.
.... nice simple overpriced watch but the strap in my opinion is simply confused and hideous .... so many Seiko watches are let down by inappropriate or poor quality straps and bracelets what a pity ..........
That price is eye-watering.

The SPB159J1 is my favorite Alpinist and much more affordable
That wooden case is stunning!

This watch is super dope. Want it
Wish they had put “Alpinist” on the dial.
I've got the Ginza Alpinist but I'm really starting to hanker after one of these. The lack of depreciation is a factor, I have to admit.
You have to buy right for a lack of depreciation. Francis and gaye has three in stock at £1890!!
The ginza is nice, I saw one in my local shop. Congrats on that one👍

Very impressive looking Seiko, sorry loose the bunn strap. Thanks for the great review!
Love it. Too pricey for me
Nice Seiko, not a bund fan. I'd wear it just on he strap. Still too expensive for me. Great review.
Great size, and a no date version would be even better.
Great watch just pricey! t u for reviewing it !
Already some ad's selling at 50% discount in UK.!!
Because its never worth nearly 3000 dollars!
Picked up for £1k
From where ?@@davidb9531

Is it possible to get the same bundstrap for replacing a used one?
Maybe for $900. Too many nicer watches in the $3,000 price range.
Gorgeous strap!

good for hunting in Africa!
Nice, but too small and pricey. Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
the minutes and hour hand r exactly like HMT pilot watch
The price 😂😂😂😂😂

Fancy box to justify price.😳
Very expensive box😉
For this $ amount I would expect it to be 100% made in Japan

I dunno but for 2 and a half grand or whatever it costs id expect an engraved caseback
Needs to have the word "Alpinist " on the watch.. Huge miss. When you recreate something you ought to label the thing your recreating...

Small and overpriced.
Overpriced
