    Great review of the Laurel Almost and comparison to the Baby Alpinist 👏 I tried the grey version on yesterday and was very impressed with it - it's my favourite of the three colours in your review. However, I'm also interested in trying out the new blue 'Deep Lake' SPB249 👌

    I was lucky to pick up the special boutique limited edition alpinist SPB289j1. It has a mystic forest dial and whilst I also agree that the champagne variant is the best looking in this video, I have to put the mystic forest as my favourite. If you are able to pick one up I would love to see a review or at least a showcase. Great video by the way!

    I have the Baby Alpinist in my small collection as my favourite, and also the Ginza SPB259J1 which covers the the indices and hand set look of the SPB245. Normally I'd not look for further Alpinists so soon, but the champagne dial SPB241 would be the next one I'd buy.

    Researching the Baby Alpinist & saw your review. It is excellent! Both are great field watches, but I’m leaning toward the Baby. I’m concerned about getting a good fit with the bracelets (my SARB035 bracelet has the same lack of micro-adjustment…why does Seiko do this?)! If I have to go with a strap or aftermarket, the options for 20mm lugs are much greater!

    I have the cream dial and it is a beautiful design, but man it is chunky! Because it's so compact, it just feels a little bit too top heavy and is not the most comfortable wear.

  • @TheBucketOfTruth
    @TheBucketOfTruth 9 месяцев назад

    I thought the leather strap with the buckle usually went on the top part of the watch not attached to the bottom. Is that wrong? Is it just a preference thing?

    • @MinuteMon
      @MinuteMon  8 месяцев назад +1

      Nope, that strap configuration is very normal on watches with a Deployant buckle. Anything with a standard pin buckle will have the buckle and shorter side strap on the 12 o'clock side, otherwise deployant buckles usually (not always) have a longer strap on the 12 o'clock side and the deployant buckle on the 6 o'clock side

    I believe that the baby Alpinist, Champaign colour looks more attractive with this cathedral type hour arm and also its 20 mm lug width for possible change of bracelets.

  • @DavidDatura
    @DavidDatura 2 года назад +9

    I had a look at both the baby Alpinist with the blue gradient dial and the 1959 re-creation Alpinist with the grey sunburst dial at my local Seiko AD yesterday.
    I came out quite disappointed by the former, as that textured dial, which in photos looked great! In real life and closeup seemed very cheaply applied to my eyes. To add insult to injury the movement was visibly dirty, even from a distance and it’s price was actually higher than the 1959 re-creation!
    The latter on the other hand looked far more dressy (which is what I’m looking for) and more upmarket. A little disappointed though to find out here, that it uses a 19mm lug width rather than the standard 20mm. That’s going to make alternate straps that fit, more difficult to find.
