    To be honest, that last Glacier run as the Superhero That Doesn't Actually Care, and Normal Smiley's fanboying over him just to be disappointed every time, was a brief moment of comedy gold for me. I loved it. Glacier's deadpan delivery of the hero too late, and Norman's over the top wackiness, made a perfect combo. I wish it went on longer. Or maybe I don't as they'd have found a way to ruin it.

      Because they learned nothing from ripping off Spider-Man and the Ultimate Warrior, or their "I don't know what we're doing with this story" booking of the Black Scorpion.
      But these are people who managed to kick Flair off of booking (he was pushing new talent and creating stories that made sense, when they wanted a WWF knock-off), sabotaged Muta, Foley, Mark Calloway, Austin, Sting, Rey, Jericho, Cornette, and Paul Heyman...among so many others...
      Pulling failure from the jaws of success was their gift.

    Idea for more videos: Hi Ryan, I hope life is good brother. I was watching Wrestlemania 7 the other day (the very 1st wrestling VHS I owned/watched) and one of the matches was a blindfold match featuring Jake the Snake. As both were blindfolded Jake would point around the ring and when his finger pointed to his opponent (I think it was Ric Martel) the audience in the arena went crazy, massive pops. My recommendation is to do a video on the biggest fan interactions in WWE history. I don't know if the match was as loud as it seemed or maybe the commentary swung me but I do not remember a match so diffirent yet all fans were in grossed in the final outcome. I'm sure u have plenty of ideas however I thought u cud try one on fans, their experiences and wht got wrestlers over. Good luck in the future!

    It really sucked because Glacier was caught in between the NWO stuff, the Four Horsemen still demanding TV time while doing nothing, and the new editions. There wasn't a place for him to be the kind of eye opener that people wanted without taking TV time from the main eventers who wanted the spotlight.
    That being said, my memory of Glacier since I watched WCW in late 1997 was that he was one of the very many things WCW offered at the time. He was lower midcard, but he definitely was someone I loved to watch because of the unique entrance, personality, and style. WCW had so much variety at this time and Glacier was just a small part but definitely significant and memorable. I also liked heel Glacier and think he really sold his cocky attitude and Tenay really sold him going down the wrong path with it.

    I live in Valdosta. I remember seeing Glacier on WCW, but I didn’t know til around 2008 that he had gone to college here.
    I ended up working at my local sheriff’s office with his tag team partner from back when they were in the independent circuit. Their team name was “The Blazers” which comes from the name of the Valdosta State University sports program.

    I cant wait for the Deadly Kung-fu Legacies: Glacier game.
    Where Glacier gets tricked by the evil wizard Quantum Chief, into killing the pet of the fire warrior Dessert.
    Dessert not knowing of Quantums tricks
    decides to kill glacier and all of the
    Kwin Lei, Glaciers group of Kung fu practitioners.

    If Sting had got Glacier, Wrath, and Mortis to set their differences aside for a time, they could have made a great gimmick team against the NWO.

    I feel like there were a lot of missteps early on...I think Bischoff thought that Glacier and Krew would catch on because of Mortal Kombat, but it was running it's course as a phenomena itself. Yeah, it's still around, but they missed the heyday of Mortal Kombat 3. They COULD have tried to use Glacier and the gang to fight the NWO, but that would have put a corny spin on that angle they probably didn't want to touch. So it just kind of died a slow death.

    • @tylongkicks8821
      @tylongkicks8821 2 года назад

      They did Glacier a year or two too late. If he had debut spiring/summer of 1995 he would have been popular. Mortal Kombat was at it's peak popularity with MK3 just coming out and a movie and cartoon coming out.

    I was mildly interested in Glacier when Mortis and Wrath turned up but it really did feel out of place at the time. When the whole thing went nowhere but he continued the gimmick it just seemed pointless because the longer he stuck around the more out of place he seemed. If he had turned up a year before the whole thing may have worked and probably would have been one of the bigger funds and gimmicks in 1995.

    They brought in Vampiro and didn't know what to do with him, so maybe a Glacier/Vampiro angle might have been a better pairing than the Vampiro/Sting angle.

    • @justinlast2lastharder749
      @justinlast2lastharder749 2 года назад

      Vampiro/Sting made a lot of sense to do. Two very visually similar characters and WCW was grasping at anything to survive. Vampiro just wasn't a great Character. Even ICP couldn't help him get over that much and ICP turned the failed Truth Commission into the Fan Favorite Oddities faction.
      ICP were jokes in the music industry, but holy hell their gimmick fit in perfectly with Wrestling. The Oddities were legitimately Fun to Watch.

      It didn't work because they were too similar...
      Sting being headliner was more reality based conflicts and storyline so didn't match well with Vampiro being a little over the top, where maybe it would fit better with Glacier.
      And I don't know what all that blathering about ICP was about. Lol
