I’m 50 & always been a fan .. I remember I waited all night in line to pick up Tomb Raider & a PlayStation 1… I’ll never forget hearing that unique sound of the PS 1 .. or how many times I heard Lara’s screams as she either drowned , fell to her death or got impaled by spikes.. You needed patience for these games but a big feeling of joy when passed a level .. Happy Times 😀 ..
I'm currently playing the remasters on my Steam Deck, but I'm well aware that option is a much more expensive way to play handheld Tomb Raider. So even though I personally don't have a use for this I hope it does bring new people to Evercade and leads to other big names appearing on the platform.
I didn’t play these games a lot. So playing them today is going to feel totally new to me! Definitely a GREAT addition to the Evercade Library! 😊. How hard do you think it was to acquire the licence Crazy Burger? 🤔. It bolds well for what other BIG name games that Blaze is maybe able to get in the future?!
I was going to pick up Piko collection 4 as I have the first three, but I've held off as I only own an exp & a tatio sp, so it is the perfect time to pick up thie tomb raider vs bundle in July. After a dismal 3 to 4 months from Blaze, I can definitely say they are peeking my interest again, so let's hope it continues.
Aspyr Media confirmed on the PS Blog that the remastered ports were derived from the Apple Macintosh source codes of the games. Aspyr has ported/ published all sorts of PC games to Apple platforms going all the way back to the 90's , and they were the publishers for the original TR series (1-5, as well as AOD) for the Macintosh as well. But, the Mac versions of TR1-3 are based on the PC GOTY/ Gold Editions. I guess they are the closest in relation to the PC ports.
Can't wait to get my hands on this cartridge, i've a sneaky feeling the next lot of Hardware will be a limited edition VS and EXP and the next Gigacart will be a Mortal Kombat collection, initially i didn't want the new models but im a sucker so will buy them regardless .
Have all these original games, but i dont have a vs. yet, so I've been wating for the vs. to go down in price, so since there's this bundle and they said the gamma was improved in these games I sprang for it.
These games looked better on our old CRT tvs, not so painful to look at. I wonder how it will look on EXP. Probably not as nice as an old CRT but probably better than a big tv or monitor.
Nice preview! I’ve not played any of these since they first came out but will definitely be ordering it. By the way, have you tried Duke Nukem Collection 2 since the last firmware update? After finding my own workaround for the problems you mentioned with save states, I’ve now lost them all because it killed my cartridge! Currently waiting for a replacement to arrive.
I'm curious how these will play. I remember the first being a bit clunky and I wasn't a fan of the early 3d graphics as they gave me a headache and I often couldn't figure out which way to go but I'm sure even by the second and third these were improved similar to the way Spyro and Medievil and several other PS games improved with their sequels.
@@CrazyBurger Yeah. I'm hopeful I'll feel a little differently now compared to the late 90s. I'll still likely start with the second or third to at least get to the slightly improved graphics and give them a real chance.
@@CrazyBurger: 🙂 The Last Revelation, (Tomb Raider 4) is the first TR game to get a Dreamcast release on 24th March, 2000. 🙂 Nearly 9 months later, Chronicles, (tomb raider 5) is the second and final TR game to get a Dreamcast release on 15th December, 2000. 🙂 Just in the case, you did not know that.
@@MatthewStreets-sc1cv I owned both but its thar long ago I can't remember the specifics. There's been far more TR games than I remember. Played most but old age comes bad memory lol
TR: Anniversary was the previous remake, it was one of the "Legend" trilogy. They basically took the maps from TR and recreated them inside the Legend engine.
Been on fence with Evercade for a while but this and Duke Nukem might have sold it. Do you think we’ll see more classic ps1 games on the system in the future?
I would LOVE to see more collections from new developers and personally I want to see way more shmups, one of the biggest reasons I want to get an EXP is because of the Tate mode ability and in my opinion, not enough games have taken advantage of that it seems like wasted potential. I feel like it was a big selling point over the earlier model and part of what made it newer and better and I feel they’ve done so little with that and it’s disappointing
Crazy Burger gets a lot of gameplay coverage out first but it's always kind of misleading because these games are not being played on an Evercade, I'd rather wait until the release and watch an actual gameplay video
The point of these are to give folks an idea what to expect and thus make a decision to buy. Obviously these are not running on Evercade, but for the best part what you see here will be the same as you see on Evercade. Evercade is basically emulation also. For Tomb Raider we might see some differences depending on what Blaze have managed to implement.
Definitely a big licence that blaze have acquired. Bigger than Duke Nukem arguably. I'll certainly be getting this collection. I had the Saturn version of tomb raider back in the day. It makes sense they are bundling it with the new version of the VS. But I won't ever be getting that because I don't see the point of getting every variant of the same thing. Definitely a must have for newcomer's though.
That said, the reason Duke Nukem was more exciting was the HD remasters of Duke Nukem 1 and 2. Still both are a big deal, and raise the profile for the Evercade as a whole.
Nice one Crazy. Your TR1 capture footage, the brightness came out very close to default, how it would look on a CRT if it's set up properly. I know as I was only playing it the other night. 😉 I prefer to original look as well, that gritty texture feel works better, modern games can look too clean. Cheers!
Yeah definitely prefer the original feel.. though it's nice to see the upgraded graphics. Though I remember they did this with the original Halo. Going back to the original xbox graphics was pretty horrific. Apart from the grass lol
@@CrazyBurger the grass in Halo 1 did look good and something I won't forget lol. I don't think I've ever played a Golf game with grass that good lol. Not even Skyrim had grass that good lol 😀

I always kinda found Tomb Raider 2 slightly harder then 3, if only for the fact there was so many hit scan enemies.
Crazy, all the machines and carts are live on Funstock, and the new controller box is showing compatible with "VS, VS-R & Alpha"?
On this basis, you'd have to assume the Alpha is a new console.
