The look. Christopher Doyle’s cinematography is both kinetic and sublime. Hong Kong becomes a dream-like world of colour and light. And Kar-wai's play with slow motion images adds to the romantic atmosphere.
I watch this movie every year, before my bday, with a pineapple can, alone in my office room, on a computer monitor, never on tv. I am 41 tomorrow, and been doing this for almost...god, over a decade :)
You should check out one of the most famous director in Hong Kong, Wong Kar Wei, who is the director of Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Happy Together etc. Those movie were filmed in a really beautiful way. Many scene were well-framed. You will have difference experience every time you watch his movie. His movie is like a life lesson that make you think after you watched the movie for a week
Fallen Angels has some of the best cinematography I’ve ever seen in a movie. Haven’t seen anything else by Wong Kar Wai yet, but I’ve been meaning to ever since I saw that.
This film is just remain with you like you genuinely. There are few films like that none of these likes are available now these kinds don't get made so often
Clairement mon film préféré, Wong Kar Wai est un genie, avec une realisation fraiche et nouvelle il nous depeint la vie sentimentale et la solitude comme personne au cinema.
I read a comment somewhere mentioning how for years they watch this movie every year on their birthday and I think that pretty much sums up how this movie makes you feel.
YES YOU'VE DONE IT! You said you would upload Chungking Express and you finally have! This channel has been top-notch so far! Loving your work P.S. I wish you played the Cantonese cover of The Cranberries' 'Dreams' by Faye Wong but this OST is also very nice
Now I want an episode about the lethal weapon saga, every thing in this video make me think about those film, from the musique to the shot, there's so much material in these four film!!!
Next video should be a Nicolas Cage film with him telling us about the world's most popular assault rifle, a weapon all fighters love, an elegantly simple 9 Ibs amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam or overheat, it's so easy even a child can use it, and they do. It was put a coin where it's cold, Mozambique put on their flag. Since the end of the CW the Kalashnikov has become the Russian peoples greatest export. Underrated cinematography.
I watched this movie when I was a teenager and thought it was great. Watched it again this year, and almost didn't finish it. My god... Beautiful cinematography, but I can't stand improvisation in film anymore. I want a well-structured cinematographic experience dammit!
please make the Beauty of 3%, a brazilian-Netflix prodution. its a dystopy show that speaks about the failure of meritocracy, the eternal journey for change and free will.

Exactly
I was so sure bg will have the song, but Nope.
Lmfao
Instead it has the superior rain tears and sweat
I am thankful for it. Not that I don't like it but I like this song better..

It's similar to slow motion, but it's actually a thing called step-printing
@@ellisjp4906 is that where he puts the same frame multiple times?
@@Nanaminanamin Essentially, yes.
This is my first and favorite Wong Karwai movie.I couldn't forget this movie for a month.
I watch this movie every year, before my bday, with a pineapple can, alone in my office room, on a computer monitor, never on tv. I am 41 tomorrow, and been doing this for almost...god, over a decade :)
@@biancaneagu1065 I saw this movie in April 29 this year for first time and loved it... my bday was may 20 what a coincidence!
Watched this movie, never understood the hype around this movie.
@@biancaneagu1065 idk why but it makes me happy you do that.
The best Hongkong drama filn I've ever seen.
Have you seen In the Mood for Love? I think the two together are unbeatable.

I think it’s more of a romance than a drama but yes.
@@TheMisfitPond Romance *is* drama, but alright then.
@@sammy40381 Yeah, I know who Wong Kar Wei is. Chungking Express made me a fan of his works.
Imagine Christopher Doyle as cinematographer of Blade Runner
It would be be amazing
I like this but blade runners cinematography is already amazing
@@casiofigueroa5627 I meant for the next time
Oh no, I can't handle another blade runner cut lol
2046 would basically answer what a Christopher Doyle shot Blade Runner could look like
already amazing
Honestly, the part of it's beauty is it's narration. The vibe, the simplicity, the feel, the city.
I really like Christopher Doyle's cinematography here because watching feels like reliving a distant memory from the past and it felt so surreal.
Wong Kar wai is the one of the best director and this movie is truly a great experience
The beauty of fallen angels????
In the mood for love is good too
Fallen Angels has some of the best cinematography I’ve ever seen in a movie. Haven’t seen anything else by Wong Kar Wai yet, but I’ve been meaning to ever since I saw that.
YES, PLEASE ! We need the beauty of "Fallen Angels" by Wong-Kar Wai next !
@@ianbeach23 You've seen only Fallen Angels ? Did you like it ?
Ling Fantastic I absolutely loved it. Like I said, I need to see the other stuff by WKW I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
One of the greatest films I've ever seen.
This film is just remain with you like you genuinely. There are few films like that none of these likes are available now these kinds don't get made so often
I watched this movie this year and was pure love, everything is perfect!
Would love it if you did the "Beauty of Fallen Angels"

Man, I love your channel😍✨
Woah, the shots at 0:33 snd 0:44 are completely mirrored in “Joker”??
Exactly 😉
I never noticed thx
Hollywood gets lot of inspiration from Hong Kong and Japanese movie but they never gave credit
@@sameerahmed-gx8js It’s an homage, it’s not exactly supposed to need credit. It’s more of an inside joke.
Damn, that's a great spotting, never knew

Great content as usual
Good job!
You simply can't ignore.. Christopher Doyle..😄😌
This is just a suggestion, would you consider doing The Beauty of Slumdog Millionaire? I rewatched it recently and it has some good cinematography.

This feels surreal and dreamlike... I kind of hate it but I also simultaneously love it.
Y'all should do Burning Cane
Gonna watch
I know it's not like any super "high-class" film, but I would love to see one on rocketman. There are some really nice shots in that one.

I watched this movie for that thumbnail shot, but it wasn't there in the movie. Its a great movie though. Loved it ❤️.
