    Christopher Nolan about Dune:
    "I think it’s an incredible piece of work. I’ve had the luxury of seeing it a couple times now, and each time I watch it I discover new things, new details to the world. The way in which it’s made is for the big screen. It’s a real pleasure and a real gift to film fans everywhere."

      @CoolHandLuke To each their own. I appreciated that Arrival wasn't another Marvel-type superficial sci-fi movie--lots of action with little substance. I think, among many other things, Denis' ability to telly a story visually is why he is one of the best directors working today. He has mastered 'show not tell' visuals. Theres something so poetic and resonant about his choices of frames; often parting from what you would expect a shot to focus on, and instead, delving in on subtle cues that convey the story. Whether that be a character's hands, a colour, faint wisp of wind or a dance of light; the shots force you deep within the souls of the characters he studies in his films. God I can't wait till lockdown ends here so I can watch Dune in cinemas.

    • @Tmtrnr22
      @Tmtrnr22 2 года назад +9

      You put it into words perfectly! I also love about his movies that he always takes his time to tell his story. Many of his movies feel so slow paced in comparison to other movies out there but that’s part of what makes them so special. Combined with what you said it makes his works into experiences.

    • @anjhap
      @anjhap 2 года назад +3

      Agree 100%

    • @marcodekretser
      @marcodekretser 2 года назад +3

      @@Tmtrnr22 Agreed! I used to think his pacing was akin to TV, but I think his ability to slow a scene down is much more purposeful and crafted than the way TV series slow burn. You can tell in all of his movies how “deeply in love” he is with them. The slow pacing of the scenes guides you to explore the frames and understand the level of depth and care that went into each and every one of them. I mean... who else is going to make a +200m blockbuster and focus on a bee on K’s hand for 10 seconds lol

    You know in Dune there is this one frame of Timothée Chalamet when he catches this spying bug that enters his room and he hides behind this ancient tree projection and the aura of that projected light hits the actor's dirty, sage-ish green eyes, and we the audience see it from the bug's pov riding on its antennae, as it makes it's way to the iris.. thank you for using the nature of daylight as bgm. i know the song isn't original for arrival but somehow it encapsulates villeneuve's cinematic experience so well. it envelops and drowns you in, and you can't help but surrender to the current, knowing it will be one hell of a ride

      people just mindlessly follow franchises now. Everyone is in a bubble, political bubble, youtube bubble, Film franchise bubbles. It fucking sucks. Dune will probably bore half that audience because it doesnt have some mindless fight scene every 10 minutes.

      Isn't it obvious that people like dumb shit?
      I mean do you think the general audience gives two fucks story or characters....
      This is obviously the reason why dumb big blockbuster movies would always outshine great movies.

    • @shadeop6773
      @shadeop6773 2 года назад

      @@uriancuanaloflores6132 he isn't really hating venom rather than hating the fact that dumb action blockbusters kill good movies in theatres....well can't really do anything when people want to watch shit movies anyway.

    • @rushpan93
      @rushpan93 2 года назад +1

      @@shadeop6773 It's weird you say that because story and characters are the only things missing from Dune. Arcs and story are both incomplete, and whatever we did see won't appear anything out of normal on first watch (it will on second which is why I love it). The only reason people like Dune so much that it got a $40m opening, was because of visuals and score and the grandeur of things that hasn't been on the big screen since LOTR probably.

    Absolute masterpiece video. This soundtrack from Arrival and Shutter Island has my heart and was pleased to see this. Denis' films aren't for everyone and he uses very few dialogues, but the cinematography is from another planets and that man truly understands science fiction. Only lord knows what will happen when Nolan's concepts and Denis' cinematography come together to make a film, I hope that day comes.

    Most people say that Nolan is the greatest blockbuster filmmaker in our age, but I respectfully disagree. I think Villeneuve's brilliance surpasses anyone who makes films at this scale. He is one of the most talented directors of his generation next to Cuarón and Aronofsky. Also, your transitions were great in the video.
