I've owned this chevy colorado for 100k and I'am going to give you my honest opinion of what I like and dislike owning a 1st generation stock chevy colorado/gmc Canyon.
08 I5 still runs fine 90,400 miles. Minor repairs like the harness for ac but yes if you keep up Matinence it’s fine. I get 18 city 23 highway non factor rims.
i had one of these in a 4x4 drove it 200,000 miles it was still running strong had the inline 5 cyl engine . It was a great vehicle, i would still be driving it but i crashed it had it 14 years.
I just bought a 2011 with 55k miles and not a cheap truck, I payed 17k for it. This is the nature of the beast.... different world we live in. Used vehicles are like the housing market....in Extreme high demand and bloated pricing. I bought it through a private seller who took great care of it.
Luckily I do all my own work and my 05 has had a few repairs, blower motor resister at 25K miles cam sensor at 33K miles then battery terminals at 40K miles the stock ones were a flimsy weak joke ! now have 60 K miles in 15 years not really bad for a truck that paid for itself in just light hauling over the years.
There's something wrong with your truck if you're getting 15 MPG highway. I have a 2007 single cab with the 2.9L 4-banger, 5-spd manual, 121K miles and I'm averaging 23 MPG combined.
All the sheets of steel does make the engine work harder, iam not sure how much vortec is comparable to DOHC VVTI but I bet gas milage would be better in this truck, furthermore I would try to remedy the issue but I've since got into a wreck and the truck got totaled, now I drive a 2016 scion tc
I like that color

4 year update on your Colorado?
This review is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks so much! May be purchasing one of these soon!

We get about 16/17 in our 2005 i4 2.8L.
2.9 5spd 89k I also get 22/23mpg.
I’d say the auto and crew cab kills that one imo.
