That’s one great thing about working facilities. I can take personal ownership of all my HVACR equipment & ensure that the units get the proper care. I don’t have to get permission from a business owner to do a coil wash, contactor replacement, etc. plus being pro active reduces my workload.
"They could be calliing someone else" is the addendum to "it's a lot easier to get budget for an 'emergency' than for maintenance". Sometimes, maybe, you're lucky and telling them "more maintenance expenditure will save you more in overtime fees" actually goes through to the right person.
Hi and Thank You in your after video notes. Reminding us to have a good attitude toward our customers (even when they do not make sense). They support us by calling us. We need to support them and listen to them. Sincerely Todd
"Thermostat was blank" - "You need to cycle power to reset the HP Lockout" I'd ask the manager to verify if someone didn't decide to turn off/on the breaker for that thing by applying the trusty "have you tried turning it off and on again" method of troubleshooting. I would not be surprised if that was the case, it and explains both these things. The HP lockout itself tripping, well... you found a few causes for that I'd say.
I’ve seen people on that same carrier break the R wire coming from the terminal board with the overload wires on the blower motor. The blower motor would over amp because the set screw on the motor pulley was not tightened down and closed itself shut. So the motor would run for 20 to 30 minutes,Trip off on overload and break the 24 V to the thermostat. Therefore causing the thermostat to go blank. But when I showed up the thermostat was on
Buenas tardes Chris, nuevamente un formidable video y sigo muy impresionado en tu manera de pensar y resolver las cosas tengo que aprender mucho de ti. Gracias por tu sencillez y enseñanzas. Saludos desde Coacalco Edo de México.
I would haft to say my most frustrating thing is my customers who do not do any maintenance 🙄🤬🤦♂️ AN it seams like they always call when we are slammed an say we need you right away… You are 💯 % right!! Their lack of maintenance costs them more In R&R but I can not understand for my life why they don’t want to try and save them major repairs issues… Yea it’s more work for us to replace and repair but it pays the bills . So I do understand and appreciate your fluster… on the ice maker?? Some one had their common sense thinking up their booty!!! If they will not allow moving ?? At least a 45 deg deflection to push the heat above the air unit..
Well said at the end! If only these companies could understand everything that lack of maintenance causes. There's no way emergency repairs are cheaper than routine maintenance
What I always wonder when you clean a condenser every week or 2: (that's very satisfying to watch by the way) I have a Split AC with 5 inside units which runs all Summer for cooling and all Winter for heating. Its been about 4 years since I've installed it, I looked thru the condenser the other day and it was clean like new You must have some dirty air there. How do you guys breathe? Yes, I know, dessert and stuff.... My unit is hanging 20ft high on a wall with no trees, exhaust fans or a dirty rooftop in de vicinity. I was almost disappointed not having to clean it
It’s probably because your unit runs as a heat pump. When it’s running in heat mode, the condenser will frost up like an evaporator since it basically is the evaporator when the system is in reverse cycle mode. As the system defrost, a lot of the dirt, probably washes away.
@@DBVintage That's what I thought too. The climate here is more on the heating than on the cooling side. Its like 1h cooling vs 10h heating, so the outdoor part is a evaporator for most of its duty. Alec from technology connections made a video about his split AC This thing runs the condenser fan in reverse full blast after it has shut down the compressor when it satisfied the indoor temperature to blow of any dirt that might have been caught by the condenser That is a really nice trick. But my unit doesn't seem to do this I think. Why isn't this a wide spread technique on equipment like this, exposed to dirty environments?
I don’t know why but I always loved cleaning the condensers. Everyone else hated PMs and that was like my favorite thing to do, check belts, clean coils, replace filters, especially coils though it was like a competition in my head to see which unit had the most crap come out of it 😂😂😂😂
@ when I was a brand new tech that was my only job, even though I had a ton of schooling and experience previously I was the clean it guy, learned to love it lol
For split multi row condensers, would a thin water wand be of use? Something like a fixed rain head style shower head on a pole, so it sorta looks like a flat shovel so the whole thing is as thin as the wand pole itself to squeeze between the condenser rows?
Wow look at that poor condenser, it’s got everything against it with dirt, ruined fins, wrong fan motor and ice machine blowing on it and yet it keeps going ! Also satisfying seeing the dirt come off the various coils 😊👍
@HVACRVIDEOS Those hoshi fittings are solid they don't leak unless you do something dumb or loosen them Quick small twist of cond and if anything a ¼ turn from your Cresent to make sure they didn't bump and that would of eliminated a large portion of the direct discharge - recirc in less than 5 min..
Anyone knows where I can get 'generic' condensing units without compressor? I'm not in the USA, with many ac's with corroded and punctured condenser coils with no way to get oem replacement coils. Replacing equipment is too expensive.
The same people who won’t pay to prevent problems and save money in the long run are the same people who think mining rare earth elements, mining copper, cobalt etc., and shipping the car around the world twice is more energy efficient than buying a gas car made in the same country.
Why not attempt to rake up that big section of flattened fins? Yeah it may fall off due to degradation, but wouldn't it be better to have airflow with a little bit of metal missing as opposed to no airflow rendering a big section of the condenser useless?
Never underestimate the customers ability to cycle power from the breaker. Worked with a guy who went to test voltage on an open air case and the customer had been resetting the breaker due to high head pressure. Dude got a flamethrower in the face.
If you have the clearance you could turn those condensing units sideways? No consideration for the AC when they installed them Lack of maintenance? Pay me now or pay me later
Equipment owner can't afford regular maintenance because they spend all their money on emergency service calls to deal with issues that could be prevented with regular maintenance.
Being a one man show who does HVAC/R part time at best, MeasureQuick's usurping the ability to take screenshots earned it an immediate vacation. Still debating whether to give them a second chance...
@@LasVegasVocalist I suppose it depends upon how charitable one wants to be in their assessment. Coil cleaning videos might be boring for you but I find them so satisfying and enjoyable to watch.
It's oddly satisfying

Exactly right, thanks for watching
Great catch on the over heated terminals
Might not be a problem at the moment but would be later. The Big Picture comes through once again 😅
For the win, lol
Great mind set

ALWAYS assume the unit ahs been breaker power cycled hundreds to thousands of times, BEFORE you get a trouble call..........
Your wisdom is very encouraging.....thank you sir.....
Thanks for watching
I love watching the very dirty condeser coils being cleaned probably the most satisfying part of the whole video
Thanks for watching

garbage is garbage....
Is this one of the units where 24v hot runs through the blower overload? Could explain a thermostat that went blank and then came back on
I'm in high school and I'm dropping band as soon as I can and taking up Hvac. I wanna start my career early and learn about it.

Could you please show us how you connect to measure quick and set up
I have a bunch of videos that show that process, but on my next one if I have time I'll see if I can do a little something along those lines.
Thank You so much for the video, and all the information. Have a great rest of your day

That condenser is CAKED, holy cow!
Caked and baked
Some day ACs will require a water hookup and have a system to auto clean the coils
Or at least city code will require rooftop water sources
Another great video, maybe common was making a bad connection at T-stat
That spray bottle is sick
Can you plz share the link for it
Thanks.

It could but there would be drawbacks
Starting with the basics and easier type repairs can solve many issues. Its not always some intricate elaborate issue.
That's exactly right
As a technician in south Florida with regular 60+% humility seeing 30+ degree temp splits shocks me. Whats the humidity in your area?
Wow look at that poor condenser, it’s got everything against it with dirt, ruined fins, wrong fan motor and ice machine blowing on it and yet it keeps going ! Also satisfying seeing the dirt come off the various coils 😊👍
It really was fighting for its life
You could of rotated the I/M condenser in like 1 min to kick the discharge away from rtu cond inlet
Nah the lines could begin leaking if I started moving them, it needs to be a planned event not a thing we just do on the fly

I wonder if the breaker tripped and Joe Shmoe just flipped it back cuz it looked weird.
Thats possible or it was reset when the lights where kicked off at the end of the night
I am thinking the condenser fan will run in reverse on a timed basis kinda like construction equipment radiator fans do to clear the radiator.
True mfg has a line of coolers that do something like that, it doesn't work as well as you'd think

Anyone knows where I can get 'generic' condensing units without compressor? I'm not in the USA, with many ac's with corroded and punctured condenser coils with no way to get oem replacement coils. Replacing equipment is too expensive.
Can you put a barrier between that unit so it won't blow on the other unit.?
Possibly, like some sort of air diverter
Can you ( with customer approval, of course ) put "reverse rotation fans" on the ice machine condensers?
I suppose you could but it might affect the performance
“Hurry, we don’t budget for preventative maintenance!”
That’s what I heard when I read the title.
Lol, that might be reading between the lines a bit

How in the heck did that condenser coil get flattened on the right side like that?
Good question
